The terrifying Greenland ice graph that's shocked climate scientists

Yeah, that's just as concerning as it looks, especially if you live in Houston, Miami, or New Orleans, or New York City, or Charlestown, SC....

But anyone should be concerned. If you also get other news about the unusual thawing in the gigantic Siberian tundra for instance:
The poisons released by melting Arctic ice (BBC)
(this isn't a sensational headline it turns out....)

All at once, quite a few news stories. I'd seen a news notification perhaps from the some weather app that temperatures in both Greenland and the Arctic had soared 40 degrees (F) above normal..., so I was searching for that, and found the above.

Here's a link on that:
Greenland saw temperatures soar up to 40 degrees Fahrenheit above normal Wednesday, while open water exists in places north of Alaska where it seldom, if ever, has in recent times.
Greenland Was 40°F Hotter Than Normal This Week, And Things Are Getting Intense

Thats nature for you.

Last big thaw was the end of the ice age.
The thing is that unless you take into account the additional greenhouse gases being pumped into the atmosphere by us, coupled to the destruction of the mechanisms that help regulate said gases(by us), nature cannot explain the current warming.

Sounds like it's time to buy real estate in Greenland and Siberia.

And I just might have prime beachfront property before long that I could sell.
If you don't mind a few mosquitoes and a big bog nearby or just all around. Hah hah Check out timewerx's post for some other hazards.

How did nature explain the former thawing? Or the ice ages? AFAIK nature hasn't ever explained anything.

Didn't Greenland used to be green? How and When Did Greenland Become Covered in Ice?

But it was really hot in Greenland in late May and early June so the world is coming to an end. If you question that you are a science denier.

It's been really cold in May and June in Wisconsin, so now I know where all the heat went.

Facts that do not support the approved conclusion are to be ignored or you are a science denier.

except that places being cold does not in any was contradict the scientific fact of anthropogenic climate change.

The Northwest passage has started to open more frequently.

I recall there was a huge snowstorm in the Midwest during late April this year.

I suppose warming is inevitable. Global coal use increased in 2018:

The bulging zones of high pressure in the Arctic, which have facilitated the unusual warmth and intensified melting, are displacing the cold air normally contained in that region into the mid-latitudes — like a refrigerator door left open. Much of the central and eastern United States have seen lower-than-normal temperatures in the past week.

Yeah. From reading a few dozen articles in the last few months, often a research team finds some new way melting of ice could accelerate in a area of Antarctica for instance, like warm water undercutting an ice shelf that holds back a glacier, etc. And a different team discovers a different factor that also will warm same area due to wind pattern modified by mountain slope.

And they both give a New estimate of melting rate using only their single new factor, unaware of the other factor just found by another team.

So they are likely to underestimate. Note on one article above how a researcher says a new factor not incorporated in models that current estimates are based on.

It's a pattern.

Add this also.

Now, a recent paper shows that nitrous oxide emissions from thawing Alaskan permafrost are about twelve times higher than previously assumed. "Much smaller increases in nitrous oxide would entail the same kind of climate change that a large plume of CO2 would cause" says Jordan Wilkerson, first author and graduate student in the lab of James G. Anderson, the Philip S. Weld Professor of Atmospheric Chemistry at Harvard.

Since nitrous oxide is about 300 times more potent than carbon dioxide, this revelation could mean that the Arctic—and our global climate—are in more danger than we thought.
