Nobody venerates statues or pictures. If we bow or kneel in front of artwork, it’s a display of venerating the person it represents. To argue otherwise is just plain silly.
I don't think anyone said otherwise.

I don’t think that we Orthodox would have any great disagreement with that statement. I suspect (though I hesitate to speak for the OP) that the original question was not in regards to the veneration of icons in general, but whether he, as an Orthodox Christian, should venerate Roman Catholic icons and statues, as he would Orthodox icons. (If I am wrong in my interpretation of the original question and am speaking out of turn, please forgive me).

You are right. Thanks for being kind too, Paisios

If I see an image of Christ or a saint (an Orthodox saint), and the image has no obvious theological errors, I will venerate the image due to who or Who is being depicted. If you tie two sticks together with the intent of making it a Cross, I'll venerate that as well.

I mean, you should show as much respect so far as they are someone else's property and therefore shouldn't destroy them. That's just rude.

Now, should you, an Orthodox Christian, venerate a statue the way we would an icon? No. I'll visit old Roman Catholic churches and cathedrals once in a while, because I like old churches, and I'll cross myself upon entering the navy or walking near the altar and that's about it. No veneration of statues neccesary.
