Like I said, they're not terrible. Not at all what I had first imagined Trump coming up with and if he did come up with those designs (I'll give it to him that he did) then I applaud him for it. I still like the current design more though.

I do not believe that Trump “designed” the paint job.
I believe that he was handed designs for the aircraft and simply took credit for them.

I can't say for sure, but I think that's more likely the case with him.

There is a need for a new Air Force One. The overall color scheme is okay, imho. It is not the biggest issue to deal with. The designs were probably suggested and drawn up with Trump's input. I am sure a designer was involved as well.

Your right his input could have been even less.

It's actually not a bad scheme, but I feel like the two-tone blue is such an iconic look, and blue is a color that has always been associated with the US.

First, it doesn’t look anything like Trumps plane.

Second, the new plane will not be in service until 2024.

This is what I was thinking when I first saw it, that it looks a lot like a commercial airliner.

As for the current Air Force One -- I can't speak for why it was originally designed that way but I'm guessing the colors were in part to make it harder to spot while flying. While it would make little difference today, in an era where you had to visually see a plane to accurately target it, I would think the combination of blues and white made it blend in with the sky better.
