Even if they're prosecuted, Trump will pardon them. And his enablers and accomplices will just shrug their shoulders and turn their backs on that assault on the criminal justice system.

Maybe I'd accept a trade. Trump can let his children go if he IMMEDIATELY decides not to prosecute a single protester at Standing Rock or other pipeline sites. Presently, some are up on charges that can give them 20 years.

Trying to save our country and its citizens from environmental devastation is a whole lot more principled than applying lessons learned at your father's knee to live on a false fortune built on Russian loans which may carry a treasonous amount of interest....

You don't know this. No one knows this. It has already been speculated (with all due solemnity) that he was "going to" pardon this person or that person who has already been sentenced...but it has not happened.

We accomplish nothing, discussion-wise, by making posts that are simply imaginary scenarios.

I'd be OK with this too, with the understand that Donald's kids aren't immune from prosecution when he is in office. Having them answering uncomfortable questions up in front of a House committee in the weeks leading up to the election seems like a reasonable timeline to shoot for.

A pointless exercise. They'll refuse to talk, Congress withh bust them for contempt, daddy pardons them.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

You don't know whether or not Donald would pardon his own children to keep them out of Leavenworth?

Sheesh, even I don't think he's that heartless... he'll pardon them even if for no other reason than they share his name...

You have a lot to learn about hypotheticals... but then again, foresight isn't a quality Donald appreciates in his supporters...

.

I see that, but in the link there is more to it also. And that is what I’m iffy about.

Can't see why.... the statute is pretty comprehensive. Any "attempts to do" anything listed there is a crime.

In the eyes of the law, a criminal isn't any less guilty just because he's untalented at it.

Well, you know that this is more silliness that can be kicked around purely for the sake of being as vicious as possible, just like calling Barron retarded or the first lady a call girl or some of the other disgraceful stuff that I have read online.

Sticking to the orange hair routine and using the President's first name in order to show disrespect would make the point equally as well that the speaker doesn't like losing the 2016 election.

I love how the haters automatically find anyone with the President including the President guilty.

And then prep another conspiracy theory regarding parsons.

Next some report will ask the President if he would pardon so and so and the haters here will say. “See, the President is obstructing by talking about pardons”

I know how desperately (and poorly) some would try to spin it as such.

Can you imagine that he will not pardon them proactively if there is a hint of prosecution? If they're to be prosecuted, it would have to be at a state level while Donald is in office (and possibly afterwards if he pulls a Ford).
If he preemptively issues pardons then they cannot invoke 5th Amendment Rights, and must answer any questions.

Hm, I wonder if they would lie like their dad? If they've been preemptively pardoned, could they be prosecuted for perjury or would that have been pardoned as well?

If they could nevertheless be prosecuted by any of the States, then wouldn't their 5th Amendment rights still apply?

When pardoned, the person admits to the crime, whether they like it or not. When put in front of a grand jury or making a legal statement, the person cannot lie or use the 5th amendment in regards to what he is pardoned for.

We can make educated predictions about an individual's behavior based on their past behavior.

In the case of Trump, we can say with almost 100% certainty that if It benefits him or his family personally he'll do it, no matter if it is unethical, dishonest or even a danger yo our national security.

I never said anything about a criminal investigation, just normal oversight activities. Of course, if they took the 5th, or better yet, lost that ability because they were pardoned and thus had no risk of being prosecuted, that's on them. Not our fault they're engaged in a criminal enterprise.

The point isn't to change the mind of hard-core Trump voters. The point is to remind the majority of voters how abnormal this administration is at a time when they can do something about it.

950 people having the same opinion is the same as one. It’s just an opinion.

But that means the opinions are stacked higher and should carry more weight, maybe another 1K or so will make it reality/factual in some peoples eyes.... even though its only an "opinion"

950 expert opinions, not the opinions of random Joes on the street. These are people who intimately understand our laws and have looked at the evidence.
