The Trump Administration's strategy to control illegal immigration has been an utter failure. They refuse to address the problem at its source as that has no political value for his base. By shifting the focus to Mexico, Trump can now blame Mexico for his own failure. It's classic Trump.

THankfully last year America had more legal immigrants than the years prior. Believe me I understand poor. My friend lives over in Nigeria and has tried for over 11 years for her husband (who has never had a conviction or problem) to come to America. They have been married for over 11 yrs. They must wait the legal way. My grandparents waited. God blesses those who do not take matters into their own hands to break the law. Time and time again in the bible, whenever man decides that he "cannot wait for God", man brings destruction onto him or herself and their family.
Sadly most of the American kids in foster care are there because their parent is in American prison. Kids suffer for the sin of the parent. Maybe God is tugging at your heart to make a difference. Many Christian organizations are currently helping refugees find families to take them in, teach them skills (such as English, but also financial etc) and just get them integrated into systems of help (like church families). Contact Salvation army or Bethany Christian services to start. There may be others, but those are the ones in my area that do great things to help. There is another organization to help the children of those incarcerated. I think it has angel in the name. I have a 2 kids that I help so I never had to go through the organization. Take care!
Asking for asylum by coming into the country, is the legal way.

I apologize that I’ve hurt your feelings.
I’m sure that future history “books” will be replete with your wisdom.

No worries. I leave my feelings aside when on the CF. ;)

I do have one that everyone should take notice of,

You're welcome. ;)

Is there any point trying to teach them what Donald doesn't want them to know?

If you are a poor Guatemalan and decide that you and your family would be better off in another country, why wouldn’t you choose to go to the absolute richest country on the face of the Earth?

With the most generous welfare system on the face of the earth? Why not indeed!

The focus was on Mexico long ago. With the border between the USA and Mexico being so open and weak, it has always been an attractive place for anyone who wants to illegally cross into our country to do so. That's why Mexico has not only been the focus recently, but for a long time in the past as well.

We said "poor Guatemalan," not "corporation."

This thread is another example of president Trump says whatever he wants and his supporter believes him!

After 2020 if President Trump is re-elected he will call a victory on illegal immigrant and his supporter will accept it. Fact is nothing has been changed on illegal immigration issue since President Trump was elected. No wall, no money from Mexico for the wall, no policy change, only tweets.

LOL. No wonder Donald felt so compelled to play coy about it.

Probably because the Middle East is hard for them to travel to.

Not the first time he signed an agreement to kick the can down the road and claim it as some sort of major victory.

I was only a child when I heard that the Paris Peace talks had been delayed due to a minor imbroglio about the shape of the negotiating table, so I learned early that dealing with people as obstinate as your good-self* gets tedious to the SANER of the involved parties, first.

Because it is a long walk from central America to Scandinavia?

Then they could have stopped walking once they threw rocks and forced their way into Mexico. Such a peaceful people. Sure!
