Planned Parenthood is a private organization. I oppose funding for private organizations. That includes the organization mentioned in this thread. That being said, if planned parenthood gets government money then so should this group.

So, you desire that the Government “runs all things healthcare”? Because I know you’re not saying “no government money for any healthcare”...are ya?

The only thing they "accomplished" was strip planned parenthood of money (who used it to help women better than this group) and gave it to a religious organization to push a religious agenda.

The absolute ignorance of some politicians are astounding. Something like this would take years to actually start working. There would be trial and error along the way. I think eventually it could work, but there is NO WAY this was going to work in a matter of months.

But that is what the organization promised.

The hole put there by the legislature by removing funding for planned parenthood was not actually bridged, what they did was remove a working organization and put in a non-working one.

You know they weren’t getting grants, right? (afaik anyways) The money was fees for services provided. What you’re proposing is pure socialism.

Which is precisely why they needed to take a deep breath and actually think about what they were doing.

They know exactly what they're doing - pandering to low information voters to get them to vote against their best interests. I mean, if you put the GOP's actual policy of funneling government money to billionaires up for a vote how successful do you think they'd be?

I think a thing like this could work. There is no reason it couldn't I they provided the same services minus the abortion aspect. But it would take time and it would take patience. And it would take the right people. Sounds like there were people involved here who didn't really have a decent business background or didn't hire someone who knew how to manage finances.

Which, to the surprise of absolutely nobody, failed utterly.

Which raises the question: where did the money end up?

Which raises the answer:

Now, internal documents, communications and financial statements obtained by the Observer, along with state records and interviews with half a dozen former Heidi Group employees and with Everett, paint a picture of mismanagement, contract violations, lack of oversight and misuse of taxpayer funds — problems that state officials knew about even as they continued to extend the Heidi Group’s contract for more than two years

...down the toilet and/or into someone's pocket.

Or perhaps a few people who knew all too well how to manage financials... a little off the top here, a kickback there...

I didn't propose anything other than if Planned Parenthood gets government money so should other entities that want to do the same thing. Government shouldn't support one organization over another.

I would propose competence as a prerequisite for that. PP qualifies; clearly their replacement did not.

In this case, Texas shut off the funds to PP several years ago. So hopefully, Texas will listen to you and restore those funds.

It's not that it can't work but rather that it didn't.

Planned parenthood would not exist if it were originally woefully financially mismanaged.

Things that work are harder to accomplish though than things that don't. The state took planned parenthood, demonized and de-funded them regardless of the fact that they worked and replaced them with their own religious ideal replacement that was a woefully financially mismanaged mess.

I'm saying no government money for private organizations.

That would cause massive issues for your economy. You do know that the US government subsidizes many different parts of your industry, including farming, right?

They do. What happens is that people receiving Medicaid are allowed to go to the provider of their own choice, assuming that provider accepts Medicaid and meets standards of care.
