If so, that's great. I have lots of thoughts on why tacos are delicious.

I can't think how there would be more than one thought on that subject. BTW, I cannot understand why you put the word like in the headline? Could you explain the need for it?

(apart from what they usually represent of course, no one should like that)

correction: 11pm*

For a minute I was under the impression you were speaking of armed assault on the railroad.

I have tried quite a bit to make latte art, watched several "easy" you-tube videos. Haven't mastered it (at all). I mainly just decorate with whipped cream and cinnamon/sugar sprinkles instead as my cheat. Of course I'm doing this overindulging at home, not as a barista in a coffee shop.

Language is a funny thing. "Shoot" has a number of meanings among them to employ photography or to employ firearm. "Like" is a word that can be and often is thrown into a sentence for no reason at all but not raise eyebrows. If one were to put the word " commode" into a sentence where it was a completely useless and superfluous addition as in " I commode went to the store and I commode was feeling poorly at the time." people would find it strange and probably the conclusion people would jump to was that the speaker was suffering something similar to Turret's syndrome. Put "like' in that sentence instead of "commode' and no one would think anything of it.

Yup, it is quite ambiguous. But as for someone who speaks English as a second language, I found English much easier to learn than French and Arabic (my mother tongue).

Arabic and French in my opinion tend to be less ambiguous with narrower-scoped synonyms but that ended to me having to learn a lot of vocabulary/expressions/combinations/permutations which was a burden.

When it comes to using words in an unusual place like "like", i think this persists in Arabic and maybe French. So, yeah, it is strange, maybe it fills the gap so that we don't go "ummm" and "ammm" all the time. But again, using something like "like" as a gap filler is strange.

Getting back to the OP:

My taco of choice is the fish taco. Crispy fried fish (snapper is most authentic, but mahi-mahi or tilapia is good) wrapped in a soft corn tortilla. Topped with shredded cabbage, crema, and pico de gallo. Grated cojita cheese is optional. That's the original Baja pescado taco. I haven't been to Baja, but San Diego is next best. Personally, I like the fish tacos at Miguel's Cocina on Coronado. The seasoning on the fish is just right, and the pico is very tasty. But I haven't been there in about 5 years, and I hope it's still good.

Oh, and while "like" is technically superfluous, it does have a linguistic purpose. It is a shortening of either the introductory clause, "It was like this", or "if you would like". It is, therefore, a social nicety either referencing a personal experience or a request for permission to proceed. It's an attempt to avoid sounding as if one is making an absolute proclamation.

I also exaggerate numbers, wear trendy sunglasses, drink too much coffee and have to make a consciencious effort to put my phone down sometimes. #millenialproblems

I personally don't like fish, but fish tacos count as tacos. So do shrimp tacos. So do bbq pulled pork tacos. So do veggie tacos. So do sweet and sour tofu tacos. so do tempeh tacos.... tacos are tacos. Taco Bell tacos technically count, but there are much better ones out there.
