Senior Hunger Surges As Boomers Swell The Ranks Of The Nation's Elderly

The way we neglect our seniors is one of many signs that America is far more demonic than it is Godly. Almost completely demonic. People don't care about news like this.
Some nations are worse. Some nations are better. I don't think the US is particularly evil although more down the road than some. Kills it's youngest and neglects its parents. Well, what does one expect after decades of "do your own thing" and "you gotta do what's right for you and don't care about anyone else but your own happiness" being preached in counseling rooms?

Seniors are not our poorest demographic group, but they are often hit with catastrophic medical bills. It is possible to search through the morass of plans and pick the one with the most comprehensive coverage. Unfortunately there are Advantage Plans competing, like the one Joe Namath advertises. They are hmos with high deductibles and co-pays and lots of things they won't cover at all. I chose the best plan. It carries a monthly premium but leaves me with no other expenses.

What a load of rubbish. "Food insecurity" ? Gimme a break. Seniors in the US today are the most well fed and richest in the history of the world. these ridiculous claims keep cropping up whenever some so called journalist thinks he or she can get away with things because they assume people will not actually question what they have written and like so any just take it on faith alone because t people want to feel that there are great evils being perpetrated. Like when it was being claimed that seniors were eating canned cat food because they couldn't afford meat. Never mind that cat food was more expensive than fresh meat or canned tuna.

I work in a hospital, and I see elderly people quite often. Virtually all of them suffer from the opposite - far too much food. During the brief time I was volunteering at a nursing home, I learned that the vast majority of people housed there were only incapable of taking care of themselves due to obesity. About 1/5 were there for reasons like dementia or a broken hip. A few were just there briefly for something like a knee replacement or monitoring after a mild stroke. About 3/4 were just so fat they couldn't properly move any more. Nearly 1/3 of them were under age 50. They were just parked at a BMI over 40 and could no longer properly rise and ambulate.

And the staff gave them as much food as they wanted, because that would ensure they stayed there. If they'd have been put on a healthy diet and gone down to a sub-25 BMI the home would have had to close down, because there wouldn't be nearly enough people to "care" for.
