People just need to listen to Yes, Rush, and Emerson Lake and Palmer, and all will be right with the world!

Pope Francis is a liberal extremist. He’s driving people OUT of Catholicism to our Orthodox faith in droves! Thanks, Frank!

Well, in my case it wasn't because I thought he was too liberal or anything like that, but because I simply didn't agree with the Papal doctrines as taught by the Catholic church. I was never actually Catholic, but did consider it. I still occasionally do.

Why would you consider Catholicism after becoming Orthodox and knowing the Faith? It’s like owning a Ferrari from the 1980’s and still considering an old Volvo!?

Okay, so I stumbled upon this metal band, allegedly from Poland, that uses Orthodox imagery. Batushka - Wikipedia I thought it all looked pretty neat because I have toyed with the idea before that a lot of our stuff would make interesting aesthetics for a metal band. However, I can't really seem to be able to find any information on the band. Are they honouring Orthodoxy? Are they blasphemous? Etc. Like, I obviously would not feel comfortable listening to something that is mocking our faith.

Does anybody know anything about them?

They use Orthodox imagery in an anti-sense, similar to the band Ghost that uses Roman Catholic/papal imagery...one of their songs, Ritual, is very blasphemous...

Here is a video of them live, you can clearly see inverted Orthodox crosses...

I have my reasons. Isolation that is taking a toll on my mental and spiritual health, primarily.

Yea, that's what I compared to them as well, Ghost. I don't know Slavonic, though, so have no idea what is in their song lyrics.

Disclaimer: I know nothing about the band.

I found a thread on Reddit talking about them where a commenter said the following:
"A recurring theme throughout their entire album seems to be the esoteric concept of self divination, in contrast to the traditional Christian view of worshipping god. While not necessarily mocking towards the church, in itself the lyrics are rather blasphemous (if only from distorting the actual 'holy' texts). The lyrics of the first 'litany' are actually that of a Psalm which is turned inside out. All the instances where there should be a 'You' (as in the person of god) they are replaced simply with an 'I'. Same goes in greater lines with the entire album."
"If you were curious of their message; it is quite clear they oppose Christianity. Maybe too afraid to mock the Catholic Church, as in after all we are talking about a Polish band here, they turned to Orthodoxy (that also speaks a bit of a anti-russian sentiment manifested in Poland as a whole). "

This sounds to me very related to a modern denomination's misunderstanding of part of Orthodoxy (potentially) ... though I can't imagine tampering with the Scriptures in that way to great degree.

But this ...

Here is a video of them live, you can clearly see inverted Orthodox crosses...

Just completely creeps me out. If I had any thought of asking myself, I'd have nothing at all to do with it.

Sorry for the frivolous post necromancy, but Google is getting very creepy. For some reason, my phone started notifying me today that this band put out a new album. All I did was click the links here, and they KNOW. They know.

The most obvious thing that you can actually see with your physical eyes is when they use Mudras and Hand Seals to open doors to the spirit world. It’s done in the occult, Hinduism, martial arts etc.

There’s other stuff also, but that is one thing that is the most noticeable. These people are not going to just come out and say who they really are because they have no moral convictions about lying or using deception.

Proof? I will say that there are many figures, including Pope Benedict and Pope Francis, who seem to give a “devil horns” hand sign, but in actuality, the likely explanation is that “I love you” in sign language is a very similar hand gesture.

I enjoy the band so they replace you with I that doesn't necessarily make them blasphemous my only main concern was the inverted cross that pretty much the only thing that disturbed me the hand gestures they use are christian hand gestures like the blessing hand lyrics seems legit when listening to the words sounds like the spirit of God talks through them

It is not the case that they oppose Christianity. Not anywhere legitimate has any of the band members, past or present, said anything of the kind. What has been said, however, was that one of the two founding members thought simply to combine elements of Orthodox Liturgy with the black metal style. There's nothing to support the idea that they oppose Christianity or intend their presence to suggest an opposition to Christianity.

This is a case of bad rumor spreading.
