Gutfield has an interesting point. The Hyde Amendment was the one moderate position in a sea of abortion positions. With it, at least the public wasn't paying for abortions - supposedly, that is, since PP gets half a billion of our dollars, fully fungible, each year. Without it, there is no moderate on abortion Dem running.

Joe Biden is Catholic. I gather that, like a number of other Catholics in public office, he is torn between his own personal pro-life convictions and an awareness that one's religious convictions can't always be turned into legislation in a secular democracy. He seems to have decided this difficult issue in different ways at different times during his career.

No, he's "Catholic". If he's willing to let the unborn be slaughtered because he claims that he doesn't want to "force his views on others", then he's in total and willing opposition to what the Church (and God) say of the issue.

More unintended consequences. With conservatives making abortion an issue, it's not surprising that others are taking the opposite position. If the Supreme Court rejects the new conservative laws, the main effect of the whole thing will have been to make blue states and Democrats more liberal on abortion.

Actually here up top the mountain we do not see it as a conservative view type of a issue. Christians believe that the Holy Spirit tells us abortion is a bad thing. If one is born again they should always follow the Holy Spirit.

Spirit Knows Best.
