Gun Violence: When Normal Becomes Unacceptable

The idea that grieving friends and relatives will be able overcome a powerful organization like the NRA who doesn't care about where its money comes from or how many people are killed is pretty much just wishful thinking.

Remember, America has the best government money can buy and the NRA, using money from both within America and from outside America, owns a substantial amount of that government. Members of Congress and and many presidents owe their positions to the backing of the NRA.

Funerals simply are no competition to money.

More and more often these days I'm reminded of this from our Founding Fathers:

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness."

I notice you list yourself as a Christian. If Jesus were to appear in America today, which gun do you suppose would be His choice to improve His chances of safety and happiness?

Yes, that's why Canada, the UK, Australia, Germany, Scandinavia, etc are violent [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] holes with daily mass shootings. Oh wait......

When the daily news here in Fort Lauderdale doesn't start off listing the shootings of the day that is the exception.

I see no conflict with guns and Christianity. "I did not come to bring peace, but a sword."

I don't suppose you read that passage in the context it was written, huh?

But that is beside the point. What gun do you suppose Jesus would select as His choice to improve His safety and happiness?

One thing I do no need is an atheist or deist to interpret scripture for me. Sorry, but you don't qualify. You don't have to like it or agree, but as long as I am peaceful and not aggressive with one, the second amendment tells me it's ok. Which is more authority than you have. If you don't want to own guns, that's alright. Your opinion may be expressed, but it means little to me. And I don't see Jesus returning in such a manner in which he would need to bring a gun with him. His power is enough to command the wholesale destruction he will enact.

Gun owners are more likely to die from gun violence, at least that was the stat a few years ago.

Yep. If one believes the Christians, Jesus has a LOT of killing to do. A Glock 9 is probably not the thing for Him. Probably He will go with nukes...lots and lots of nukes.

<shrug> I don't believe the Christians. Jesus is not coming back. And He doesn't have multiple personalities.

It is the religion which is wrong, not me. Your threats about my safety doesn't change that.

The money and influence of the NRA is equivalent to the money and influence of Planned Parenthood. Except Planned Parenthood results in exponentially greater amounts of deaths.

Another difference:

Can you name one member of the NRA that went on a killing rampage?
