Imagine that! And right after he returned from his visit to Orthodox Romania.

What does the Holy Father's visit to Romania have to do with this opinion on what The Holy Father has said, expressed by His Emminence Cardinal Kasper ?

This was an interesting (enigmatic really to me) sentence:

"Speaking in particular about female deacons, Kasper said that women today do “ten times more than what female deacons did” as they were described in the Bible."

I'd like to see more about that -- how he knows.... Were (Rom 16:1 -- strongly suggest read this whole chapter too!) Phoebe's duties enumerated somewhere and/or other instances of other women -- a specific list of duties? How could we know they didn't so much back then? On what basis? Or does he only mean the proliferation of other kinds of groups, such as sisters of charity, and more? That at least would make sense. Anyway, on what basis were offices like Phoebe's ended???
