And yet you concur with others that Christ received all promises, covenants, and blessings given by God to anyone who came before
I'm trying to understand this statement, so correct me if I am wrong. You seem to be stating that I agree with others that Christ received all promises, covenant, and blessings given by God to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and the 12 tribes?
I believe the promises (PLURAL) made to Abraham and his offspring were to Christ, as the offspring is Christ according to the revelation given by Paul.
Galatians 3:16 The promises (plural) were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. The Scripture does not say, “and to seeds,” meaning many, but “and to your seed,” meaning One, who is Christ.
I believe the old covenant was only a shadow of Christ, given to the 12 tribes as a gaurdian until the coming of Christ.
galatians 3:25 So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith.
Colossians 2:17 These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ.
Hebrews 10:1 For since the law has but a shadow of the good things to come instead of the true form of these realities.
Hebrews 9:9-10 According to this arrangement, gifts and sacrifices are offered that cannot perfect the conscience of the worshiper, but deal only with food and drink and various washings, regulations for the body imposed until the time of reformation.
As I believe the OT points to Christ, I believe all the promises of God are found fulfilled in Christ.
2 Corinthians 1:20 all the promises of God find their Yes in him
Considering that it is certainly dumb luck that the birthright promise as well as the other prophetic blessings of Genesis 49 should so fit the latter day nations mentioned in the theory. If it looks like a duck...
I think this is where I am struggling to understand you. You appear to use the term birthright interchangeably with the prophetic blessings given by Jacob. However, this is not the case, as shown in post 772, the birthright and blessings are not the same.
Birthright: double portion inheritance
Jacob's Blessing to sons: prophetic of what would occur in the latter days.
Here's how I view Jacob's prophetic blessings:
From the tribe of Judah, Jesus would come
Genesis 49:10 The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the staff from between his feet,c
until Shiloh comes and the allegiance of the nations is his
From the house of Joseph, through Ephraim, a multitude of nations would come.
Genesis 49:22 Joseph is a fruitful vine, a fruitful vine by a spring, whose branches scale the wall.
Genesis 48:19 But his father refused. “I know, my son, I know!” he said. “He too shall become a people, and he too shall be great; nevertheless, his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his offspring shall become a multitude of nations.”
