I'm expressly against healing ministries in the vein of those who 'touch to heal' and whatnot, as I find it rooted in pagan practices and not historic Christianity, in which healings were dramatic and obviously of God and were real and lasting.

They are fake and an embarrassment to Christianity.

Your against healing ministries... ?
Are you against healing?
Where does scripture state touching is sinful?
I.e ..they shall hands on (touch) the sick and they shall recovery..

"Healers" appear to be very good at curing ailments on stage, but considerably less so in hospitals. They're good at undiagnosed illnesses, an bad at obvious debilitating maladies. Short form, for the most part they appear to be frauds. Let 'em go empty some hospitals, then I'll take them seriously.
This is seriously an argument so often parroted Mostly by people that dont step out in faith of any kind...
We go to hospitals very often.
Earlier this year we went to a med clinic where every one in the there in the waiting room was suffering from fever...
All were healed.. Those who knew it cancelled appointments and left healed and happy. Those who didn't believe decided to stay and have fever.. People are odd that way.

Add. I don't get into " healing ministries"
There is no such thing biblically ...
Its all just the work of The Gospel...

Don't let a lack of faith of people, which prevents them from receiving their healing, make you think God has stopped healing. Multiple places in the Bible speak about the gifts of the Spirit and healing is one of them. It also speaks of the laying on of hands so be careful before saying this is a pagan ritual. The pharisees accused Jesus of casting out devils by the devil and he warned them of blaspheming against the Holy Spirit immediately afterwards.

So to answer the OP directly (I voted "other"), I am against so-called "healing ministries", but am not against healing ministry. The Church has always been in the business of healing, St. James commends people to be anointed with oil when they are sick. Anointing of the sick has always been Christian practice, and many churches have services dedicated for this purpose. It isn't the showy displays one sees on television, it's just part of the liturgical worship and ancient praxis of Christianity.

The Church prays for the sick, anoints the sick with oil, and is also supportive of medical care and the vocation of the physician, sponsoring hospitals, providing medicine and medical care for those without, using resources to help those in need receive the medical care they need. As such the Church's healing ministry isn't about showmanship, it's about addressing both the spiritual and physical needs of people in Christ's name. That's what authentic Christian healing ministry is and looks like.

I'm expressly against healing ministries in the vein of those who 'touch to heal' and whatnot, as I find it rooted in pagan practices and not historic Christianity, in which healings were dramatic and obviously of God and were real and lasting.
It seems that healings are part of a category, the proof category. The other part was called words:

John 10
38But if I'm doing them, even though you don't believe me, believe the actions, so that you may know and understand that the Father is in me and I am in the Father."

The Father revealed what words and works Jesus had to do, to convince Israel that Jesus was sent by Him.

In fact, works include not just healings, but all miraculous actions, including producing food out of thin air. Also, the words were the supernatural unraveling of Scripture.

And the proof was needed to support the claim that He was in the Father and the Father was in Him. Very important for one to remember when the instruction of how eternal life could be attained was later given. You had to be IN Him. Which is why there was a very detailed description of the sacrificial lamb in the Old Covenant...

Don't forget, Moses had credentials given to him too:

Exodus 4
4Then God told Moses, “Reach out and grab its tail.” So he reached out, grabbed it, and it became a stafff in his hand. 5God said, “I’ve done thisg so that they may believe that the LORD God of their ancestors—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob—has appeared to you.”

6Again the LORD told him, “Put your hand into your bosom.”h He put his hand into his bosom and as soon as he brought it out it was leprous, like snow.i 7Then Godj said, “Put your hand back into your bosom.” He returned itk to his bosom and as soon as he brought it out,l it was restored like the rest ofm his skin.n

8And the LORD said, “If they refuse to believe you or heed the witness of the first sign, they may believe that of the second. 9But if they do not believe even these two signs or listen to your voice, take some water from the Nile and pour it on the dry ground. Then the water you take from the Nile will become blood on the ground.”

Also, some people wanted the ability to lay hands on believers and give the Holy Spirit. It wasn't easy to obtain.

Further:

John 3
2He came to Jesus at night and said, "Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs You are doing if God were not with him."

Mark 6
1Jesusa left that place and went back to his hometown,b and his disciples followed him.2When the Sabbath came, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were utterly amazed. “Where did this man get all these things?” they asked. “What is this wisdom that has been given to him? What great miracles are being done by his hands! 3This is the builder,c the son of Mary, and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas, and Simon, isn’t it? His sisters are here with us, aren’t they?” And they were offended by him.

4Jesus had been telling them, “A prophet is without honor only in his hometown, among his relatives, and in his own home.” 5He couldn’t perform a miracle there except to lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. 6He was amazed at their unbelief. Then he went around to the villages and continued teaching.

Again, this is in the context of convincing people to follow God, not the world/Egypt. In other words, Jesus didn't come to empty the hospitals of his day.

Numbers 14
11,22,27
And the LORD said unto Moses, How long will this people provoke me? and how long will it be ere they believe me, for all the signs which I have shewed among them? …

Mark 9
19Jesusn told them, “You unbelieving generation! How long must I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring him to me!”

20So they brought the boyo to him. When the spirit saw Jesus,p it immediately threw the boyq into convulsions. He fell on the ground and kept rolling around and foaming at the mouth. 21Then Jesusr asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” He said, “Since he was a child. 22The spirits has often thrown him into fire and into water to destroy him. But if you are able to do anything, have pity on us and help us!”

23Jesus told him, “‘If you are able?’ Everything is possible for the person who believes!”

24With tears flowing,t the child’s father at once cried out, “I do believe! Help my unbelief!”

You know, the children were weak. They needed bread to get them through the wilderness. The crises and the victims only provided the opportunity...

I am going with my lord what Christ said not with how I feel about others. He never once asked me or cared how I feel when He said "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." Christ even said ..if he is for me he is not against me. Gee what was that MAN doing?

So truth .. if one is against, nor for laying hands on .. this is what Christ did.. and the 12 and then the 120, 3000 up to this day. Jesus goes in to some town and all He could do was "He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them" Gee why? Doubt.. yet JESUS "lay hands on".

See were talking healing. Sorry cant beat around the bush here.. Isa 53 read it. Then read 1st Peter 2 24.. man I can keep going. For me it comes down to these verse. 1st What is GODS will? Its His word. So if you know He hears you then you know you have the petitions you asked for. Back up.. whats it say before that? This IS the confidence..what does confidence mean?

GOD is talking not man. God said.. and this is the confidence that we have IN HIM that if we ask ANYTHING according to His will He hears us. Thats where people get lost. No one during the time Jesus was here ..never got Healed that came to Him. People were healed just by Peters shadow. GODS WILL ..this is where some get lost. They HAVE a GOD IN THEM...yet no clue what His will is. They see the the flesh they hear with the flesh and feel with the flesh. None of that is faith.

So God tells us through our brother James "But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed For let that person not think that he will receive anything from the Lord."

I think we tend to apply that ONLY to healing or what ever. But.. His word is very clear "receive ANYTHING from the lord" What is anything mean? Faith.. the ONLY way to please Him. With out faith.. we can not ever please Him. I am really shocked at how some talk about these preachers on stage and not in hospitals. I can say for FACT you dont watch them.. you never took the time to look into this. Well they have answered that EXACT question SO MANY TIMES...YEARS ..and here it is being toss out.

Again the catch here is "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him". Did you read that? Must 1st believe... how many right here don't believe.. then dont believe He IS a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. You still only see MAN not Him.

You think God must use someone perfect.. never sins.. never misses it. No one on this planet is like that. We read the word and think.. what the 12 were perfect? Never did wrong never had BAD thoughts? Never missed it? Forgive me.. praise God SOMEONE out there said USE ME..take me. There is a reason THEY are out there in the open.. and YOU and ME are not.

Go for it.. go stand out there and PRAY for people.. watch how FAST some turn on YOU.. and all your doing is ONLY what He said. Watch how fast.. you get money given.. that you didnt want.. but they give it.. watch how fast some talk about YOU. It happens to EVER PREACHER. The ones you LOVE and not like. You learn THESE kind of people are everywhere. You learn as the word says.. your not hear to PLEASE MAN. Dont like it? So what? Did you ever notice GOD never once asked US about it? EVER..

So pray FOR THEM.. you think they are MISSING IT? Gee maybe GOD put that on your heart hoping you would PRAY for them.. help them. Love your enemy.. they are not even the enemy. Man I have NO CLUE how I would act seeing hundreds of thousands of dollars pass before me. Sure i can set here and say.. I LOVE JESUS I would NEVER Do wrong.. ..blood of JESUS I will NOT think that nor say it.. rather not be tested..

So healing as I see and read it are for today.. do some do wrong sure.. miss it sure.. I pray for them.. Holy JESUS ..GOD never once gives up on me when I miss it over and over and over.. never makes fun of me..never tells ANYONE where how I missed it.. so if thats how HE treats ME..thats how I will treat HIS not mine.. HIS Children.. sorry if I offended.. forgive me

He healed in at least one case where people struggled with it (Mark 9:14-29). Too often, this is turned around into victim-blaming when the "healer" does not successfully heal someone.

I was prayed for to heal my cerebral palsy and because I was not healed instantly the guy blamed me for not having enough faith, it took everything I had to keep my composure and not throw him over the pews. (at that time I was using a manual wheelchair and had great upper body strength)

Did you notice that in spite of the unbelief of the people in Him, He still layed hands on them and healed them? It's right there in the part you put in bold.

God's hands aren't tied, our faith or faithlessness doesn't hinder Him. He is still God, He is still Savior of the world, He is still Lord.

I wish a groups of Christians would hire people to investigate healing ministries and see if any are real.

There are Christian watchdog groups, like the Trinity Foundation, which basically do exactly that. They've successfully exposed a number of high profiles charlatans as being the charlatans they really are.
