If I knew someone was being held captive I would tell the law, but I am NOT ( and most Americans would agree I am NOT going to willingly allow the government to watch my every move or listen to my every word in the name of "protection".

Then you are selfish and heartless. There are hundreds if not thousands of people being held hostage. How can you prevent this without getting rid of the idol of privacy?

Yes, the government will do what they want. I'm more afraid of criminals than the government.
The government can be criminals when they overstep the boundities put in place to protect the people FROM THE GOVERNMENT.

and it also violates the forth amendment to stop people for no reason

God is greater than the 4th amendment. I care about people, my question again how are you going to stop people from being held captive without getting rid of the idol of privacy?

You cannot stop everything There is sin in this world and in this fallen world there always will be that does not mean that people should lose their RIGHT to privaticy and freedom over what really is a few bad apples,

If there are not enough check and balances this would be true. You have been brainwashed by the world system that he devil has deceived. The bible says the devil has deceived the whole world and all the nations. The devil has deceived America into not protecting it's citizens enough.

God is greater than the forth amendment, BUT God is not who runs this country. Nor is the Bible nor any other holy book.

However, they still ( with very few exceptions) may not search you, so you do in that sense still have privacy of your person.

Yes. Even if you're arrested, they aren't allowed to take your cell phone or even see what's in it without a warrant. Supreme Court reinforced that, recently. And they can't go through your car or backpack without a warrant or probable cause.

This is why police want you to roll down your window all the way when they stop you. If it's down, they can say they smell marijuana, call for a drug dog, and run it around the car. Such dogs can be trained to point on cue, which then allows them to search your car. If only roll the window down a crack, courts don't usually allow that.

Right to privacy? No where in the bible says that privacy is a right. Are you a Christian or do you worship America?

but it is also my understanding that they may not call a drug dog for no reason.

I'm not afraid of either, brother, although at the present time I will say that the presence in our society of dangerous, organized criminals somewhat peeves me and it would be nice if law enforcement could do something more about it than it typically does.

At the same time, I don't really trust that those who are empowered by technology will use it responsibly in the long-run. Just as a taste of what I'm referring to, see the following Christian Forums thread I created not too long ago and I think you'll see more of the kind of thing I'm getting at. ;)

It sounds like you are helping criminals avoid the law? I want them in jail.

that is the law. Every one is presumed it is on the government ( working within the constrains within the law to prove people guilty. If they cannot do that without breaking the law themselves then they lose the case and the person walks.

that does nor mean it has to be the government that protects them, either.

The difference between you and me it seems is that I feel that to a certain point we are being over-protected.
