The reality is that Americans today are less free than the Russians who lived under Soviet communism. The difference is that Americans believe they're free and won't hear any argument to the contrary.
Thank you for proving my point.If any official walks up to me on the street, and demands "papers, please", I'm free to tell him to buzz off, unless he can clearly tell me what crime I committed. If I'm taking pictures, and he doesn't like it, tough for him. Those two things alone would get you hard time in the old Soviet Union. So, no.
