If you would read your Bible, you would start to get an idea about what things are (or are not) pleasing to God. (I assume that it's His opinion that matters most to you.)

Offering opinions outside of that context won't get you to where you want to go.

In my opinion, Disney has either been a third string company (that period right after Walt died) or else it's been the evil empire (1980'ish up to now).

I don't recommend that anybody watch their media or financially support anything they do.

For those who can receive this, I recommend pondering on these verses from Ps. 101 and asking Jesus what grieves Him regarding what we have and do in our living space.

2 I will ponder the way that is blameless—

when will You come to me?

I will walk in my house with integrity of heart.

3 I will set no worthless thing before my eyes.

I hate the work of those who fall away;

it shall not cling to me.

4 A perverse heart shall depart from me;

I will know nothing of evil.

Can't recall the exact verse right now, but there is one that states anything we are not told we can't do, through we are allowed to do it, doesn't necessarily make it a good thing to do. That also means it doesn't necessarily mean there is anything wrong with doing it. So, I'd say, if the particular show you want to watch is not a problem in itself, watch it if you want to.

If you wan to boycott the media outlet or anything for that matter, that would be up to you, and I can understand how something can be so extremely bad we would want to do that.. But lets be reminded, if we stood our ground and refused to watch/buy form anyone who was dishonest, it's very likely we would not even be able to buy food.

I no longer watch TV, but I do watch movies ad play some video games with some foul language/whatever in them. I manage to ignore it all for the most part, and certainly don't see it a cool so I start using the language myself. IOW, though I sometimes will get so disgusted with some content enough to not to use it, I'm secure enough in my Christianity, and not a child that will be swayed by some things, I don't feel the need to throw out the baby with the bath water.

But that's just me, and there are several who would disagree with the content i allow in order to get my relaxation/keep from being board, and that's fine. We all need to make out own choices, and I suppose you are doing just as you should in order to help yourself do that, but those are some of my opinions on the matter, and you can easily see how I personally would view your show as just fine in comparison to some of the things I watch. :)

The Disney company has lost is way and in many ways is getting out of hand, both corporately and in their products. That said, I don't think everything they have put out is bad, and some of it has been very good. They very well may be on a downward trajectory though.

I would definitely avoid the bad stuff. Whether you on principle want to boycott everything they do is up to you as an individual. Also worth considering is whether the time spent on their products has been wisely used, or whether there is something better to watch, or even something altogether different to do.

Disney has promoted witchcraft from early on, trying to make it look harmless and fun. For example the witches in Sleeping Beauty who change the colors of her gown, Escape to Witch Mountain and so on. Many have found subliminal sexual and occultic images in Disney "entertainment." You are right to be wondering if you should watch it.

But, why watch most any secular entertainment? Your brain was made for so much more. You could be spending time on learning a fun hobby or serving the Lord in some way. Be honest now, aren't most forms of secular entertainment promoting anti Biblical messages either directly or indirectly? I have given up all t.v. and most all secular entertainment. Before I went cold turkey, though, I did watch a lot of old movies starting in the 30s as they are often on the wholesome side and some actually promote Biblical values directly or indirectly. There are lots of them on You Tube for free.

I wouldn't watch anything produced by Disney... except (1) that's getting harder and harder to do lately since Disney is buying everything in sight and (2) not everybody will agree with my standards. I can't stop anybody from watching anything Disney produces but neither will I support them in doing it.

I'm probably not one that can answer that as I have an annual pass for Walt Disney World and it's three other parks here in Florida.

I also have many Disney movies and am looking forward to seeing The Lion King in the theater and Star Wars in December.

Just an aside, for LoricaLady, the only thing witchy in Escape To Witch Mountain was the name of the mountain. The children were aliens.

Are you engaging in witchcraft? Disney is made up stories. They are not real witchcraft, and you are not going to start flying around the neighborhood on a broom, because you saw some dumb thing on TV.

I'm much more worried about the bad relationship models they have, and the anti-G-d messages that seem to be in much of the TV world. Be more on the lookout for that garbage, than this shake-a-twig-at-people-and-turn-them-into-rats nonsense that you is more a joke, than some real witchcraft.

I struggle with this too.
It might be helpful to ask yourself a few questions:
1) Is the 'magic' natural ie apart of how this fantasy universe 'works' or is it supernatural? It's the supernatural that is the dangerous stuff. Supernatural magic is magic that is acquired ( usually through spells or mediums).
2) Does God and grace sit comfortably in this world? I.e. Can you see the characters of the Decendents worshipping the true God? Because what I've often noticed is that Disney 'believes in magic'' like we believe in God's indwelling power and His indwelling grace.
Hope this helps a little.

You have a good point, LoricaLady. Funny how I thought about this too not too long ago, it is something to keep in mind.

As I grew up with watching a lot of Walt Disney movies, cartoons, series... Having a mother who is a quite big fan of this, I watched a lot of the classics as well as the later ones during my childhood and growing up. I used to think the classics were better and with more moral than the later ones. But now I see clearly that many of Walt Disney's classics are also very dark. Ever seen the Black Cauldron? This is supposed being for children but is made in a way which can be frightening children. I do remember some shorter cartoons which I thought was also frightening as a child. Even looking at the scenes of the evil queen in Snowhite was frightening to me when I was a child, although I did watch it in the end of last year and found it encouraging at this time.

It is definitely something to keep in mind, and to think of what is being honouring to God or not. What His Word says about what we watch, as there are many things we can see in the bible of what is pleasing before God and not. And a lot of what we watch fills up our minds and hearts, whether we are aware of it or not. Many will not think too much of it. But it is as it says in His Word; Matthew 15:18

"But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them."

Proverbs 4:23

"Above all else, guard your heart,
for everything you do flows from it."

Fantasy magic is just that, fantasy. It's quite harmless. In the real world there are self-identified witches who observe some form of reconstructed [Neo-]Paganism; but they aren't engaging in "magic" or "witchcraft" that you see in fantasy works. Their religious acts are fundamentally no different than what any other religious person does. If the fact that a Buddhist meditates doesn't cause you to worry than what Wiccans and other NeoPagans do shouldn't concern you either. And you certainly shouldn't be worried about make-believe things you see in children's shows.

Life's too short to worry about things like that.
