How bout it, praying Christians? A seven-second prayer each day. That's easy.

Are you interested in the preservation of gun ownership and rights? Yes? Well, so am I. Concerned that mass shootings will be prevented? Yes? Well, I as well.

Can you then spend 7 seconds every day, or as often that you can remember to do so, to pray that God will stop, by any means necessary, those individuals that have murderous intent before they perpetrate unjustified gun violence on anyone? Do you believe your prayers will be effectual in this matter? No? Well why not? Are you not the Salt and Light of the earth? Has not God chosen to largely work through the prayers of the Saints (Matthew 9:38; 1 Timothy 2:1-2; Jeremiah 29:7)?

Do you have a prayer list? No? Why not? We keep and maintain lists for just about everything else under the sun, so why not as an aid to help us to remember what to pray for?

In addition to the above, I am praying that those opposing gun ownership rights will not be able to use recent tragedies for political gain.

Note: Please do not assume that I or anyone else own firearms or are determined to use physical force with firearms just becasue I or they support the preservation of gun ownership rights.

Although personal protection is a serious issue on this topic, one of my concerns pertains to a particular right necessary for the health of a nation a whole as well as the preservation of the US Constitution.

If you're interested in gun rights, remember that Someone greater than anyone who posts here said, "Those who take up the gun shall die by the gun."

Or something like that.

In the Bible we see people being commanded to go out with weapons to destroy Israel's enemies. In the Garden of Gethsemane we see that Peter had a sword. He attacked a man who was doing no harm, a servant who was just along for the ride so to speak. That's why what Peter did was wrong. Notice he was not corrected for having the sword, or told to ditch it. Nothing tells us we can't defend ourselves. The constitution was written, basically, to conform to Biblical standards. If someone was about to shoot you or a loved one would you just stand there, or would you wish you had a weapon to defend everyone?

Praying for our gun laws/rights to be upheld.

P.S. Correct translations can make all the difference. Notice the word "habitually" from the Amplified Bible:

52 “Put your sword back in its place; for all those who habitually draw the sword will die by the sword."

You're confusing the applicability of standards as they apply between individuals and nations as a whole.

Open up a thread in the appropriate area and I will meet you there.

Amen. I agree, brother, and yes, i am praying as well. I will also be praying regarding this on tomorrow, June 2nd, when Franklin Graham has requested that we all pray with him for President Trump.

God bless you brother.

Thanks for the reminder for prayer tomorrow. Can we post a reminder for others somewhere for that?

...just prayed...it was a little over 7 seconds, but yay!!!! i like these little spurts of prayers, because it's not so daunting, is it?

Thank you AACJ!!!!!

God bless you!
I actually have it on my prayer list. I am not claiming to fully understand all the differences between individual and collective prayers, but I do see evidence that large scale and specifically directed prayers make a huge difference.

 i love this 7 second prayer each day. Thank you. I just prayed...it was over 7 seconds....but the suggestion of just 7 seconds is rather delightful...it's not overwhelming or daunting and it cuts right to the chase, doesn't it?

God bless these 7 second prayers, and God bless you too, AACJ. (((hug)))
