How did you keep trusting and believing in the Lord Jesus Christ once you knew Him?
By His grace through His Word and Spirit.

2 Peter 3:18 KJVS
[18] But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

i was brought up a believer so i knew about Jesus all my life, but i didn't know Him as my Saviour , Lord and King. So for years it was very hard for me to have faith and trust in Him, for He never seemed to come to my aid in times of trouble, and there seemed to be so much demand with so little return. My faith in Jesus was religiously based and not love based.

It wasn't until much later on in my life that i called out to Jesus all broken and suicidally depressed that i got to really know Jesus as my Lord and King for in just a few years He made me stronger than my illness could bring to bear and set me free in His loving truth.

So i suppose i came to have faith in His love because i saw first hand what His love achieved in my life. He saved my life from the pit and rescued me from death and set me free to love and serve Him in the truth of my salvation. His word is fully trustworthy to rescue us from world's lies. Little difficulties trusting Him now, so glad He destroy my distrust, doubt, and unbelief in me and set me free in His loving truth.

It is awesome to having a faith that works.

Peace.

The Living Word Saves
Meeting Jesus down in my deepest Pit
brought an end to all my inner pain
For lovingly The Word made me fit
to have my Good Life back again.

First The Farmer pulled up my weeds
digging up the dirt and rocks within me
then lovingly sowing His Good Seeds
in time harvesting me most abundantly!

Yes The Word's Voice in Spirit of Love
The Living Word brought me under His care
His love dwelling within me from up above
His everlasting Good Life with me to share.

So please do from your pit walk away
also farming His Good Life in your soul
finding New Life in God's Truth today
The LIVING WORD your constant goal.

I first heard the Gospel when I was 12, and when I was 15, I asked Jesus why I should be a Christian, and He said without Him, there is no salvation. My heart said Yes Lord, I believe, and I prayed to repent of all sins, and receive Jesus as my God, Lord, and Savior. I told my Mama what happened, and was baptized a year later. Jesus is my Hope.

I don't know why but I must read the scripture daily. If I do not read the scripture I will not pray.

If I do not read the scripture for any length of time I do slide into worldliness.

It may be that because I became a Christian halfway through my life, I am by default a worldly person. So in my case I have to strongly exercise my Christian faith.

I have met many church going Christians that do not read the scripture often. But they were raised in Christian households and seem to naturally just believe and live the Christian life.

I trust in Jesus because I know He loves me and the scripture confirms this.

I heard of God and Jesus all my life, as an American Christianity is culturally the religion. Though like me I think most hadn't really attended churches or read scriptures regularly. The consequence was either just believing but lacking faith not actually living it or not believing lacking faith not living it. Not much of a difference except when asked if I believed in God or was upset blaming Him for not making me and my life better.

After few years of unbelief being agnostic to atheist I found a small Gideon's International Bible. Not sure from where it came, have saw a least couple orange and red one around. My thoughts are somehow it was allowed to be given at school or we got them from one of the few times we attended church. Anyway I started reading it, only New Testament with Psalms and Proverbs. Did this daily either in the morning or evening. But my faith was lacking as I only did it hoping for a better self and life. I strayed continuing to struggle and making excuses to not commit.

Still a far walk to go but eventually I had a moment when enough was enough. I didn't and probably don't now lol, actually know and understand faith in Jesus and God's word in the Bible. But from then I relied more on Jesus having faith when doubting myself, back then it was simply do the opposite of what you want and what you been doing. Faith is more then that, now it's less what I do and has to do about matters of my heart and soul; love for God and people, being thankful and charitable not only in things but time and effort (I.E. genuinely seeking God in worship and fellowship).

I will say reading the Bible daily if possible helps. But also if you have limited free time, one day you could use your time instead online to participate within the Church. This is something that I think comes with maturity of faith, listening the Holy Spirit for what you need but if you have more than enough knowing it's time to give. Could say to share the faith and the word with your brethren in Christ, that neither are all about us. So I try to be committed to God in the Lord Jesus Christ, both by reading the Bible and fellowship with Christians. Truth is if you're in fellowship you should be hearing or if online reading about what's in the Bible, though it's not specifically what you would had personally.

P.s. John 5:39-47

I have to accept that Jesus Christ's death is the only way to God, athough it is very painful and human wisdom dislikes this. "Take your cross and follow me every day" means regard myself as one having been crucified with him. only this way can overcome my sinful nature.

The Word says in Romans 10:17 "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.Back in the time that was written, there was much more "hearing" of the word than "reading" of the word. Now we have both luxuries, and the point is...Faith comes from filling yourself with the Word of God.I try to keep my faith level full by being as continually in the word as possible. You cannot produce faith within yourself. It comes from hearing, seeing, and doing.
The Word also says in James 2:20 faith without works is dead.In my opinion, that means it will atrophy, just as an unused limb will atrophy if never used.Use it or lose it.
My salvation came about 25 years ago through reading God's word in the Bible,at home alone without any encouragement or guidance from anyone.God alone shown me His truth and love, and I fell in love with Jesus.
I will post at some point about how I DID NOT keep to James 2:20,and a couple other key commands/teachings and backslid/fell away, whatever it was and was very lost for a long time, until the good shepherd snatched me up and brought me back completely without my expecting it.I have rededicated my life to God now and am so grateful for His rather harsh correction.
This is actually my first post here in probably 12 years, since that happened so I need to also post on the intro thread. It's good to be back, and to meet you all.
