Immigration -- 5% tariff put on Mexico

Better idea than a wall, that's for sure. Also collects more tax from Americans to make up for the tax cuts, and shows the world that "trade agreement" isn't worth the paper it's printed on when it comes to Trump.

That will work. WE get to pay more for our veggies and Mexico has no incentive to do anything. By the time he gets to the election he should just about have our economy trashed.

It is almost like he wants to lose but he hasn't figured out how to make his fanboys angry at him yet.

It will just make prices higher for the people who are here legally.

I hope Mexico will work with the US a little... Aside from collecting money in the US which ends up back in Mexico eventually, I really don't see how they benefit and why they do nothing to try to remedy the problem. They obviously don't care that much about their own citizens if they think nothing of people getting killed or locked up. And the Mexican government more or less encourages that to keep happening. It's frustrating because I know some very nice Mexican people and I feel bad for the reputation their country has developed.

I guess a lot of the people today aren't even Mexicans crossing the border, anyway. More like Hondurans and Salvadorians, I guess. But they still have a responsibility to maintain their own borders and they will certainly suffer in the end if they continue to be a highway for lawlessness.

The many new initiatives being turned to (such as this one) by the president in the wake of the refusal of Congress to do anything to normalize our immigration procedures shows us one thing for certain--he is serious about it and not simply using the wall and the border as a campaign issue.

The Pelosi-Schumer people had claimed that that was his only interest, if you remember.

I don't think that helps fund a wall. The tariff money is income just like taxes and Congress is charged with deciding how that money gets spent.

It -is-, however, a good way to get that tax cut back from the masses so the Republicans can have more money to give away to the wealthy next year.
