Could you elaborate please?
Virtue Signalling = the action or practice of publicly expressing opinions or sentiments intended to demonstrate one's good character or the moral correctness of one's position on a particular issue.

It's not like anyone is going to stand in favor of racism in this forum. So saying you are against racism is an easy way to show that you are virtuous. Anyone who refrains from aggressively agreeing that racism is a problem is considered less than virtuous.

Fortunately, this is a forum of cranky people who will disagree over any position. So virtue signaling while very powerful in social media, won't get very far here.

The solution to all these integration problems is complete freedom of association without government interference.

Then you wouldn't have to worry about these churches because you would have your own separate community that's right for you. :)

Research seems to suggest that racism is a problem among Evangelicals. Nevermind the "Trump supporters are racist" argument - there's other evidences that we've got some serious work to do. But we're so segregated that this problem doesn't seem apparent. This article takes things a bit deeper, detailing the story of a white pastor facing his own racism, and the implications it has for moving forward.

Speaking as a veteran political activist, I appreciate your effort to address this particular issue. And speaking from years of personal experience, I advice you to ignore the mockery and the accusations against you. It isn't uncommon to be subjected to mockery, accusations and Red Herrings when you address the issue of prolonged racism against minorities. I decided to reply to you because I don't want you to become discouraged. You have to have a very thick skin and self-determination if you want to address social issues like racism against minorities, especially when it includes Christians.

Is it really racism that Black people want to worship with Blacks, Whites with Whites, and Chinese with Chinese? Maybe it is just an example of freedom to associate with those we are most comfortable with. Let us be careful about reading other people's minds and judging their unseen hearts.
When white churches attempt any level of integration campaign, especially the churches that are successful, all manner of racist issues get stirred up. Let's be careful not to downplay the issue.

My opinion - all races have racism, but white racism is responsible for social/governmental systems that are rigged in favor of whites at the expense of non-whites. If that's true, white racism is much more destructive than the racism of other groups.

Somewhere along the line context must be considered.

During a...discussion...I once engaged in with a third-wave feminist on the issue of institutionalized racism she looked at me and starting harping "what color is a band-aid? Huh? Huh? WHAT COLOR IS A BAND-AIIIIIIIIID?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

That question, however idiotic, illustrates the context dilemma.

Liberals see the standard issue color of a band-aid and immediately envision a group of evil white men sitting around a large rectangular table all smoking cigars laughing and snorting over how they are going to stick it to all minorities with the color of a band-aid because racism. Because they hate all minorities and revel in their hate.

Conservatives look at a band-aid and see a band-aid, something designed for application to small cuts on the skin.

When the question of actual racism arises, Conservatives look at racism and call it racism regardless form where it hails.

Liberals see racism solely as a function of skin color.

Can't tell you how encouraging that is. So far, the greatest pushback that I've experienced, this thread included, is the strong tendency to downgrade the issue with "everyone's a racist," and "everyone's a sinner." Thanx for your encouragement.

White conservatives, much too frequently, fail to see systemic racism against non-whites, and never admit to their own personal bias towards whites. If you're implying that conservatives do a better job with the problem of racism in our country, I can't agree with you.

If they dont agree with your views on racism, they automatically qualify as white racists themselves, I suppose. Or white nationalists. Or white supremacists. Or just willfully ignorant.

Amen, unless the past is repeating itself in ways that nobody recognizes. But the past never does that, right?
Whites are no more racist than other races are. So blaming whitey for everything isnt justice, its discrimination.

Forgive me, but why is it always whites who are guilty? Is the problem of racism exclusively a white problem? Im just wondering.
Because whites have benefitted tremendously from systemic racism against non-whites. And whites don’t have a list of derogatory stereotypes we are up against in seeking employment, justice, due process, and political power. We also have more wealth as a result of privilege both current and handed down generationally. Since most people in positions of power are white, white people do not need to fear racism causing us to not get a job or a promotion.

How do you tell the difference between virtue signaling and genuine expressions?

You're welcome, Mark. Speaking again from experience, I know it's basically impossible to have a rational discussion about racism against minorities or about the history of racism against minorities in America without some disgruntled white person throwing out a Red Herring to deflect, which is either how white people are discriminated against too or minorities are just as racist as white people are.

It's never really been a matter of difference though. The truth is, accusing someone of virtue signaling or using that stupid SJW accusation against someone who has the nerve to address any racism against minorities is nothing more than an attempt to shame that person into silence and dismiss the issue.

This is a good point. There can also be the reverse: blacks being racist against white people. In addition a racist could like African-Americans, but not Orientals, or maybe Latinos. It can go in any direction.

Either the past is repeating itself, or it isn’t

Yes - or worse, those people don’t actually believe we care about other ppl the way we say we do. The implications of that are pretty scary to me.

Actually one time I read about a black man sterotyping a white man who had a similar job, but the target was not offended by it. IIRC the comment was, "(Player name) is the NFL's best white running back." He said that at a time when the NFL had less than five white running backs. This is reverse racism because a big majority of professional athletes are black. Could it sometimes be what job black people apply for and end up getting?

Sure, in certain sports. That leaves 99.999 percent of jobs...

BTW, in most cases, is it a white man or a black man who hires NFL players?
