Ohh

Most pastors will tell you not to return? No wonder some of the churches here told us not to listen to united states preachers.. But where you from?

...but that is kind of a very stupid action it is indeed bad for business if they are running business disguised as a church you told them not to come back then that person who you told it to will then tell his/her friends families what just happened then it is the beginning of your business going down especially when you told it to other people as well so yeah i doubt they've really said those things

Are you sure it really happened though?

If what really HAPPENED?

When you tell a church congregation openly in front of every one to give there money to the poor, then they will not give it to the church.

The pastors will ask you to leave.

Try it, see what happens.

Tell people to give to the homless all month instead of giving to the church, see how fast you long.

Do not take my word for it, test it.

Hello everyone, I suspect that this question may have been asked before, but I was unsure. But just in case, I'll ask it again just to make sure.

Anyways, I was just wondering what branch of Christianity follows the Bible the closest. I wanted to also join whichever branch that follows the Bible the closest because I don't know what type of Christian I am. I was a Baptist then I was an Eastern Orthodox then I was a Protestant - I just don't know what to follow. I don't want to follow something that Jesus said not to do or something not mentioned in the Bible. I just simply want to follow a branch of Christianity that follows the Bible the closest with everything the Bible mentions; scripture and all. I looked into the Seventh-day Adventist church because I was told that they do follow the Bible the closest, but my friend (Jim) said not to join because they are cult-like and I don't want to be in any cult and be looked down upon with ill intentions and avoided. All I want is pure Christianity and no modifications or add-ons to it, just pure Christianity. I definitely don't want to be in any cult either. I then considered being Catholic but my friend said that they don't follow the Bible closely either and they have traditions that they have created that are not in the Bible. My friend Jim sent me links to support his reasoning, and I believe him.

The Plain Truth about the Roman Catholic Church
The Sad Truth About Seventh Day Adventism

Thank you.
I have known a lot of seventh day adventists who were sincere believers, but if you are looking for a perfect church, you are not going to find one, because they are full of imperfect people. We have not been made perfect yet. Also, in every denomination there are good points and bad, and some churches are better or worse than others within every denomination. So I suggest just finding a body of believers who are seeking the truth, and measuring everything that is taught by the word itself. Reading the word for ourselves is the most important thing.

...could not believed it really happened and what seriously? where in the world is this place?

but if you do that here >Philippines they would throw you bible verses that makes you to shut up even if it's a catholic church haven't tried it but born again pastors here teaches to give to the poor and a small church born again church they would probably agree to you since you know each other since it is a small church and your church doesn't look like a church but a house

try doing this on The Old Path church that preacher would definitely tell you that they have programs that gives help to the homeless the preacher also says that it's up to us who attend his preachings if we wants to donate or not he also says if we donate should be a sincere amount so donating a dollar will do half a dollar will do not even a dollar will do

I guess that thoughts of us different breeds are completely different from other breeds lol hope you understand that i am not fluent in english i also seldom speak in it

I think every branch of Christianity follows the religion closely. In most cases, not all but most, the different branches focus on different aspects of the religion. Like pentecostal Christians, for example. They focus heavily on the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Many people enjoy the atmosphere of these churches. However, there are many still who feel afraid and weirded out by it. What I am getting at here, is that the branch chosen is a matter of personal preference.

I do hope you are right.
'For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.' What's the alternative? 50 to 75% of Christendom deceived?

Try for Philadelphia:

Revelation 3
"7To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the words of the One who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What He opens, no one will shut; and what He shuts,no one will open. 8I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door, which no one can shut. For you have only a little strength, yet you have kept My word and have not denied My name."

Your best answer is to have a one on one with God... Rev 3:20. Study scripture to find out everything you need to know about those who have had close encounters with God and what they say, they felt, they saw. Read all the requirements that it takes to be able to stand in God's Presence. This is a prayerful study between you and God. Let Him lead you. There will be things about yourself that you may not realize is a blockage. It could be a secret sin that you are not willing to give up. It could be a false concept about God that colors your understanding and thus keeps God at a distance. God is a gentleman, and you must open up your heart and let Him in. Let Him clean out that attic of yours. Let Him open up your mind to His world as it is portrayed in scripture. Afterall, all the writers of scripture had there encounter will God and are reporting what they came to understand, see, and what they were to write down for us to read and understand.

You are the Temple of God. Let Him in and reign from within. Once you have had a up close and personal experience with God, ask Him for His eyes to see, His ears to hear, and His understanding. Ask Him to be your one rue guide. Then you will be able to look at all the congregations and see what God sees.

So how do we take communion if we don't go to a denominational or independent church?

Bible study groups?

I ask as someone who doesn't attend church but wouldn't be opposed to a decent one.
Im not apposed to the Lords supper. Im not apposed to church fellowship either. I dont however agree with following any denomination's tradition or doctrine. Whos tradition/doctrine should i choose?

Not sure what church would be right for you if you are against denominational doctrine and tradition, because they all have one as you pointed that out, so you sort of answered your own question. I am also cautious of church doctrines.

That's why I asked my question. How to come together with fellow Christians in a group if not in one of these churches? Bible study groups, online sermons or choosing a church which is close but not perfect to ones belief system and trying to reconcile is what I see available.

Or isolationism from other Christians for lack of fellowship. :(

That is why your relationship with God is strong enough that you can trust Him to lead you through the ins and outs of what is His and what is not. I see that you can see the good and bad already in a lot of tradition or doctrines. So keep on with God as your leader. So what if you drift in and out the various mixtures. No one said you had to stay with one.

Hi there! Im an independent fundamental Baptist and I think we do a great job of following the bible closely. We aren’t involved in the Catholic Church at all, do baptism by immersion, we believe in traditionalism and fundamentalism and take the bible literally. God bless!

I don't understand the point of this thread, OP. Don't expect any other answer than "my denomination."

Apparently you had not read a single post in this thread except the first one. People are saying there's no best denomination. What I am seeing here are warnings to NOT believe anybody who said one is the best or or only church. A good question was asked and received good answers.

I like what @~Anastasia~ said, that's all good advice.

Religion is a deeply personal issue. I'd look for a religious community that has good people that are committed to making a positive difference in the world, where love for people is the most important part of the religion's teachings. Doctrine is very much secondary for all practical purposes, even my own pastor talked about years ago being befuddled how some of the most "orthodox" people he knew could be unapologetically mean or cruel.

Well, either you follow an existing doctrine or you invent a new one of your own.

Inventing new doctrine generally leads to heresy.

No, you can follow the scriptures, not invent a new bible. Following denominations lead there often as well. You may find yourself buying indulgences, or some other heresy.

I know of one branch that does very closely follows what the bible, what the Apostles taught the church as much as is possible in todays world.

That is the Church of God International.

The Church of God International is one of the splinter groups of Armstrongism. Their teachings are not biblical at all. The deny the Trinity which, in my view, makes them non-Christian.
