The reason why I am being this way is so you are stuck in a position. This way there is no changing your views as you go or manipulating me as I post responses. Christians are supposed to be very honest and straightforward people. There are no mind games, no mind funk, no mind manipulation, no trying to deliberately promote a falsehood. But I can't let you sneak away into a new position after I refute your first one. If your Starting Position is true than I cannot refute it with greater known facts.

Who (requires name/s), When (requires year/era), Where (place of change)...changed the Sabbath to Sunday? Did Christians keep Sunday observance prior to this change?

What is your dogmatic position?

Did Constantine change the Sabbath to Sunday like SDAs & Flat Earthers claim?

Did Constantine change the Sabbath to Sunday? Such a claim states that a major violation of the law took place in the name Christ, which would make the ministry of Christ' Apostles a total failure from the start. But what if SDAs and other Sabbatarrian sects are lying to you? If Constantine changed the Sabbath to Sunday then early Christianity should be nothing but Sabbath worship before this change. So lets just go back before Constantine to see if what Seventh Day Adventists say is true.

Ignatius of Antioch was a disciple of the Apostles in the 1st century. However, his written Epistles come from the early 2nd century in which I will be quoting from 108 A.D.

"Consequently, if the people who were given to obsolete practices faced the hope of a new life, and if these no longer observe the Sabbath, but regulate their calendar by the Lord's Day, the day, too, on which our Life rose by His power and through the medium of His death--though some deny this; and if to this mystery we owe our faith and because of it submit to sufferings to prove ourselves disciples of Jesus Christ, our only Teacher: how, then, can we possibly live apart from Him of whom, by the working of the Spirit, even the Prophets were disciples and to whom they looked forward as their Teacher? And so He, for whom they rightly waited, came and raised then from the dead" (St.Ignatius of Antioch, "Epistle to the Magnesians," Ancient Christian Writers Vol.1, p.72).

Since Ignatius was a disciple of the Apostle John, we now have a better understanding of what St.John meant in Rev.1:9-10:

"9 I, John, both your brother and companion in the tribulation and kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was on the island that is called Patmos for the word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. 10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet."

The Lord's Day is what the early Christians called the first day of the week.

The Didache (also known as "The Teaching of the Twelve Apostles"), was written in the 1st century, even before the Ignatian Epistles, and is the earliest existing catechism for the church. Most scholars agree that the date of composition is between 50--70 A.D. The author of this catechism is unknown. But it is the earliest mention of Sunday (i.e., The Lord's Day) outside the Canon.

"On the Lord's own day, assemble in common to break bread and offer thanks; but first confess your sins so that your sacrifice may be pure" (The Didache, Ancient Christian Writers Vol.6, p.23).

Though in 150 A.D. we would see Justin Martyr use the word Sunday for the first time in Christian history:

"And on the day called Sunday all who live in the cities or in the country gather together in one place, and memoirs of the Apostles or the writings of the prophets are read, as long as time permits."

Again Justin Martyr mentions Sunday:

"But we all hold this common gathering on Sunday, since it is the first day, on which God transforming darkness and matter made the matter made the universe, Jesus Christ our Savior on the same day rose from the dead. For they crucified Him on the day before Saturday, and on the day after Saturday, He appeared to His Apostles and disciples and taught then these things which we have passed on to you also for your consideration" (St.Justin Martyr, "The First And Second Apologies," Ancient Christian Writers Vol.56, pp.71-72).

The Apostles kept the Lord's Day (i.e., Sunday) as the new Sabbath from the time Jesus rose on the first day of the week. There are about 8 verses in the New Testament which show them worshiping Christ on Sunday. SDAs like to argue those verses and make up petty excuses for them. However, there is one verse the SDAs cannot argue against:

"Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work" (John 4:34).

Now since SDAs and other Sabbatarians believe we live under the Mosaic Law, they fail to recognize that the Sabbath Law was a sign between God and the Israelites forever (Exo.31:16-17) and this covenant was never given to their fathers (Deut.5:2-3). Thus this law was a covenant made between God and Israel with a purpose. The Gentiles did not have the law (Rom.2:14-15). The entire Decalogue of Israel was there for a Divine Purpose and that Purpose was Jesus Christ. Jesus fulfilled the law and the prophets and this happened on the 1st day of the week.

Jesus finished the work of God. But what work could Jesus have finished if creation week ended on the 7th Day? This is where SDAs have a serious problem in how they understand Scripture. Mankind fell into sin (Gen.3) and thus creation was tarnished by sin and God cursed all creation on account of sin entering the world. But God was not finished. Jesus rose on the 1st day which to us Christians symbolizes the 8th Day of creation--creation through the newness of our lives in Christ' resurrection from the dead, when we, too, rose from the dead through His Power.

SDAs often accuse Christians who attend Sunday Churches of worshiping the sun. But that is a silly argument. We could also say SDAs worship the god Saturn if we wanted to return the silliness. But all the days of the week were named after pagan deities and Jesus and His Apostles lived in a very pagan world.

But here you can see that before 336 B.C., Christians were worshiping on Sunday (aka "the Lord's Day") long before Constantine's father was born! The SDA claim is not historically true. But will SDAs be honest about all this? Nope!

Then there is this fulfilled verse SDAs pay no attention to:

"And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising" (Isaiah 60:3).

This verse was fulfilled in what historians call Christendom. God is not losing. The Gospel did not become corrupted in the early centuries of Christianity. The Apostles did not fail.

No, I actually own those documents I quoted from. But now notice how you shift the burden of evidence on to me by saying "This is sad for you." At this point you are ignoring the documents and now willing to take aim at me personally. This is because you lack the proper discipline to analyze information and when you see something you don't understand you say "This is sad for you" to lift the burden of proof off the real issue which is that Constantine didn't change anything. Well, he did make Rome a lot more Christian. Isn't that a good thing? Or perhaps no matter what history reveals we as Christians must hate Constantine?

WHO DID THE EARLY REFORMERS BELIEVE THE ANTICHRIST WAS?
PART 2/2
(adding more references to the many already supplied in part 1)

In calling the pope the "Antichrist", the early Lutherans stood in a tradition that reached back into the eleventh century. Not only dissidents and heretics but even saints had called the bishop of Rome the "Antichrist" when they wished to castigate his abuse of power. What Lutherans understood as a papal claim to unlimited authority over everything and everyone reminded them of the apocalyptic imagery of Daniel 11, a passage that even prior to the Reformation had been applied to the pope as the Antichrist of the last days.[14]

The identification of the Pope with the Antichrist was so ingrained in the Reformation Era, that Luther himself stated it repeatedly:

"This teaching [of the supremacy of the pope] shows forcefully that the Pope is the very Antichrist, who has exalted himself above, and opposed himself against Christ, because he will not permit Christians to be saved without his power, which, nevertheless, is nothing, and is neither ordained nor commanded by God".[28]

and,

"nothing else than the kingdom of Babylon and of the very Antichrist. For who is the man of sin and the son of perdition, but he who by his teaching and his ordinances increases the sin and perdition of souls in the church; while he yet sits in the church as if he were God? All these conditions have now for many ages been fulfilled by the papal tyranny."[29]

John Calvin similarly wrote:
"Though it be admitted that Rome was once the mother of all Churches, yet from the time when it began to be the seat of Antichrist it has ceased to be what it was before. Some persons think us too severe and censorious when we call the Roman Pontiff Antichrist. But those who are of this opinion do not consider that they bring the same charge of presumption against Paul himself, after whom we speak and whose language we adopt .. I shall briefly show that (Paul's words in II Thess. 2) are not capable of any other interpretation than that which applies them to the Papacy."[30]

John Knox wrote on the Pope:
"Yea, to speak it in plain words; lest that we submit ourselves to Satan, thinking that we submit ourselves to Jesus Christ, for, as for your Roman kirk, as it is now corrupted, and the authority thereof, whereon stands the hope of your victory, I no more doubt but that it is the synagogue of Satan, and the head thereof, called the pope, to be that man of sin, of whom the apostle speaks."[31]

Thomas Cranmer on the Antichrist wrote:
"Whereof it followeth Rome to be the seat of Antichrist, and the pope to be very antichrist himself. I could prove the same by many other scriptures, old writers, and strong reasons."[32]

John Wesley, speaking of the identity given in the Bible of the Antichrist, wrote:
"In many respects, the Pope has an indisputable claim to those titles. He is, in an emphatical sense, the man of sin, as he increases all manner of sin above measure. And he is, too, properly styled, the son of perdition, as he has caused the death of numberless multitudes, both of his opposers and followers, destroyed innumerable souls, and will himself perish everlastingly. He it is that opposeth himself to the emperor, once his rightful sovereign; and that exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped - Commanding angels, and putting kings under his feet, both of whom are called gods in scripture; claiming the highest power, the highest honour; suffering himself, not once only, to be styled God or vice-God. Indeed no less is implied in his ordinary title, "Most Holy Lord," or, "Most Holy Father." So that he sitteth - Enthroned. In the temple of God - Mentioned Rev. xi, 1. Declaring himself that he is God - Claiming the prerogatives which belong to God alone."[33]

Roger Williams wrote about the Pope:
"the pretended Vicar of Christ on earth, who sits as God over the Temple of God, exalting himself not only above all that is called God, but over the souls and consciences of all his vassals, yea over the Spirit of Christ, over the Holy Spirit, yea, and God himself ... speaking against the God of heaven, thinking to change times and laws; but he is the Son of Perdition."[34]

The identification of the Roman Catholic Church as the apostate power written of in the Bible as the Antichrist became evident to many as the Reformation began, including John Wycliffe, who was well-known throughout Europe for his opposition to the doctrine and practices of the Catholic Church, which he believed had clearly deviated from the original teachings of the early Church and to be contrary to the Bible. Wycliffe himself tells (Sermones, III. 199) how he concluded that there was a great contrast between what the Church was and what it ought to be, and saw the necessity for reform. Along with John Hus, they had started the inclination toward ecclesiastical reforms of the Catholic Church.

When the Swiss Reformer Huldrych Zwingli became the pastor of the Grossmünster in Zurich (1518) he began to preach ideas on reforming the Catholic Church. Zwingli, who was a Catholic priest before he became a Reformer, often referred to the Pope as the Antichrist. He wrote: "I know that in it works the might and power of the Devil, that is, of the Antichrist".[35]

The English Reformer William Tyndale held that while the Roman Catholic realms of that age were the empire of Antichrist, any religious organization that distorted the doctrine of the Old and New Testaments also showed the work of Antichrist. In his treatise The Parable of the Wicked Mammon, he expressly rejected the established Church teaching that looked to the future for an Antichrist to rise up, and he taught that Antichrist is a present spiritual force that will be with us until the end of the age under different religious disguises from time to time.[36] Tyndale's translation of 2 Thessalonians, chapter 2, concerning the "Man of Lawlessness" reflected his understanding, but was significantly amended by later revisers,[37] including the King James Bible committee, which followed the Vulgate more closely.

Exactly as prophecy had given, in 1798 Pope Pius VI was taken prisoner by the armies of Napoleon I, and died in captivity in France, and it appeared the Papacy had been dealt a death blow, or its power taken or wounded and yet it was restored: "One of its heads seemed to have a mortal wound, but its mortal wound was healed, and the whole earth marveled as they followed the Beast" (Revelation 13:3).

In 1870, the newly formed Kingdom of Italy annexed the remaining Papal States, depriving the Pope of his temporal power. However, the Papal rule over Italy was later restored by the Italian Fascist regime[38] (albeit on a greatly diminished scale) in 1929 as head of the Vatican City state;[38] under Mussolini's dictatorship, Roman Catholicism became the State religion of Fascist Italy[38][39] (see also Clerical fascism), and the Racial Laws were enforced to outlaw and persecute both Italian Jews[40] and Protestant Christians,[39][41][42][43] especially Evangelicals and Pentecostals.[41][42][43] Thousands of Italian Jews and a small number of Protestants died in the Nazi concentration camps.[40][43]

Today, many Protestant and Restorationist denominations still officially maintain that the Papacy is the Antichrist, such as the conservative Lutheran Churches[44][45][46] and the Seventh-day Adventists.[47][48][49][50][51] In 1988 Ian Paisley, Evangelical minister and founder of the Free Presbyterian Church of Ulster, made headlines with such a statement about Pope John Paul II.[52] The Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod states about the Pope and the Catholic Church:[44]

There are two principles that mark the papacy as the Antichrist. One is that the pope takes to himself the right to rule the church that belongs only to Christ. He can make laws forbidding the marriage of priests, eating or not eating meat on Friday, birth control, divorce and remarriage, even where there are not such laws in the Bible. The second is that he teaches that salvation is not by faith alone but by faith and works. The present pope upholds and practices these principles. This marks his rule as antichristian rule in the church. All popes hold the same office over the church and promote the same antichristian belief so they all are part of the reign of the Antichrist. The Bible does not present the Antichrist as one man for one short time, but as an office held by a man through successive generations. It is a title like King of England.[53]

God bless.

Please show me one scripture in God's WORD that says God's 4th commandment Sabbath has been abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a Holy day (scripture please). You have none do you.
John 4:34...covenant fulfillment.

"Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work."

Proof of this is seen in the fulfillment of Isaiah 60:3...the greatness of the gentile nations

"And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising."

This verse was fulfilled in kings like Constantine, Charlemagne, Henry VIII up to the discovery and establishment of America.

If God hated Sunday observance so much He was very gracious to the Sunday keeping Christians, because He made them more successful than the Sabbatarians and blessed them with stronger churches.

Isaiah 60:8,

"Who are these that fly as a cloud, and as the doves to their windows?"

Of course I prefer the Tyndale on this verse:

"But what are these that fle here like the cloudes, and as the doues flyenge to their wyndowes?" (1537 Matthew's Bible).

The gentile nations who came to Christ were so blessed by God that God poured His wisdom into the nations He blessed. And in the state of Ohio two brother would invent the first airplane. This airplane would take the Jews back to Israel in 1948 where the gentiles would show love towards Israel and its people.

Isaiah 60:10,

"And the sons of strangers shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee: for in my wrath I smote thee, but in my favour have I had mercy on thee."

This also fulfills Deuteronomy 30:1-10
Bible Gateway passage: Deuteronomy 30:1-10 - New King James Version

So here is the best defense for the Christian faith. Do you ignore it for the sake of pride, or do you forsake your pride and embrace the truth?

No I didn't in post # 648 you were told what is not true which was your false allegations and mostly everything you posted in (post # 641; 645) we can also add post # 653 to that list now.

Did you want to answer my question to you now?

Where does it say in God's WORD that God's 4th commandment which is one of the 10 Commandments in the NEW COVENANT that give us a knowledge of what sin is when broken been abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a Holy day?

It is ok, you do not have to answer this if you do not wish to. You have no scripture do you.

Only God's WORD is true and our words do not really matter.

I already posted Scripture but you ignored the post.

You say you go by the Bible only but nowhere in the Bible do we read any of the pet-doctrines of the SDA church. I'd also like to know why you reject the earliest Christian traditions on the issue? Gonna go with the usual "teachings of men"? If so, can you point out in Scripture where Jesus says not to listen to His Apostles?

"Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle" (2 Thess. 2:15).

Your making things up again.

Making up what? You are accusing me of lying without a shred of proof.

So what did I make up here? Are you trying to tell me these sources I quoted from...sources I own...don't exist?

SDAs say no Sunday before Constantine. I proved right from the Apostolic Succession that Christians have historically always worshiped on Sunday ever since the Resurrection of Christ.

John 4:34...to finish God's work. SDAs assume there was no unfinished work.

Yea?? No you didn't... Where is the scripture that says God's 4th Commandment has now been abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a Holy day?

If you have no scripture just say so. Don't pretend you do when you have none. If you have scripture post it. If you haven't why pretend that you do?

Well that is not true. Still waiting for you to post scripture showng that God's 4th commandment has been abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a Holy day. Your posting 2 Thessalonians 2:15 yet your not able to provide any scripture support saying God's 4th commandment has been abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a Holy day. For me this is only a fulfillment of what JESUS says in MATTHEW 15:3-9. What do you think these scriptures mean?
