Hi all as you've seen my past post about the military this is about the same thing but different scale.

I plan on joining the military but here's my mixed emotions about it:

family
Most of my immediate family is having health issues. My mom is disabled and being take care of , my step dad is having health issues, my real dad just got diagnosed with cancer but is going to make it, my granpda is passing away but on life support, my grandma is ok but getting older to, only healthy ones are me and my sister in the immediate side of my family. It's like i have all this going on plus the things in my own life.

military:
but even though i have all this going on i'm still very dedicated to wanting to join the only problem is my family gets in the way of me wanting to because if i join im going full time active duty in the air force for 6 years and i don't know when i would be returning to see my family given their current state. I know i'm the one who has ultimate choice in this.

But i would like some advice and insight on what you would do if you still really wanted to pursue the military and there was a good chance you will get in. It's just i really want to join and i know i can make it its i just i have things here that is messing with my emotions and what's ultimately giving me the reason to think it over, step back and reflect.

Thank you for your time.

Pray and seek God about this. Man cannot give you the right answer regarding this matter and they will only be voicing their own opinions. Pray and see where God leads you with this.

You are allowed 30 days of leave annually in the military. Also, if an immediate family member has urgent (emergency) needs or passes away, you are allowed to take emergency leave.

I'd consider if the family could manage though it wouldn't be easy. Also what about the military that has you pursuing it, whether that could be found in opportunities elsewhere having more flexibility for your family. Not an easy decision, just think it through and not leave any stones un-turn about it. Then what's decided have no regrets. God bless your search for an answer!

growing up and moving on with your life is part of growing up. Since you are not the primary care giver you are free to move on. If you feel they need you, you can make the effort to call and send letters and gits often and still show them your love and support while living your life.
