Hi all,

What do you think? Was the person who said:

One reason I support ending abortion nationwide is precisely because women just might have to think twice about being physical with men whom they don't like.

A male or female? How many of us really believe that we're being overrun by women who are having sexual relations with men that they don't like?

Is there any chance that it's really men having relations with women that they don't really like?

God bless,
In Christ, ted

Trust me. Women not only have sex with men they don't like, but with men they don't even know.

Thank you for your honesty. It is good to see what we have long suspected but most pro-life people deny. This is about controlling women's sexuality.

That's what it kind of sounded like, didn't it?
And apparently man has little to no responsibility in the matter of unplanned pregnancies as well. >_>

Carrying a child to full term does limit their sexual activity for sure.

I truly do appreciate what you have done for human lives. And if you were the only person in this country who is Christian you would make my comments completely wrong. But let's face it, Christians flock to the military in such quantities the religion even sends preachers to the military to preach to them. I doubt those preachers are telling them to respect all lives and don't kill people.
Well, I'm not here to either attack or defend them. But let's say for instance they all believe in killing people in battle and don't believe it is wrong (which is not a safe assumption to make, BTW). Their believing in taking lives in battle would not invalidate disagreeing with killing unborn children outside of battle.

And there are a LOT of Christians who do live in states with capital punishment. In fact, I think I just read that Alabama just executed another person.
Again, equating the death penalty with abortion is a false equivalence. Abortion intentionally targets innocent human life, and most of the time the reason boils down not to saving another life, but simple convenience. The death penalty takes the life of someone presumed guilty of a crime of violence against another person after what we hope is a fair trial. Two very different animals.

I point out that, in general, human life is not precious to Christians. They just don't seem to have the passion for keeping people alive that they do for getting them alive.
Except for the Christians in the medical profession, and the Christians who have helped to feed and clothe the needy. Those numbers will likely be in the millions.

We should help pregnant women regardless of the circumstances that brought them to this point.

From Jonathan Edward's The Duty of Christian Charity, his answers to objections for giving to the poor:

"9. 'He has brought himself to this by his own fault.'

But what do you mean by fault?

c. If they came to want by a vicious idleness and prodigality, we still are not excused from all obligation to relieve them, unless they continue in those vices.

If they continue not, the gospel directs us to forgive them, and if their fault be forgiven, then it will not remain to be a bar in the way of our charitably relieving them.

If we do otherwise, we shall act in a manner very contrary to the rule of loving one another as Christ has loved us. Christ loved us by laying himself out to relieve us from the misery which we brought on ourselves by our own folly and wickedness."

And how does an attitude like that show other people the love of God? How does the mercy and love of God fit into an attitude like that? What about the personal witness for the Gospel? What about having compassion for people who are in trouble and are suffering? What about helping people who need it because they find themselves in a very difficult situation in their life? What about caring for people that you don't even know? Personally speaking, my heart breaks when I see another person hurting and suffering, even if that hurt and suffering was the result of a bad decision they made.

The church is not united on this issue.

Apparently a few really do believe that.

But Christ didn't relieve all earthly suffering by his sacrifice. So what are we to do?

There are Atheists against abortion, how would that fit into this religious dogma engraved in American law?

Of course. And I've done my part many times by refraining from having sex with women I don't like or don't know.

Only those who are bitter incels, or grew up hearing stories from their parents and grandparents about how great an age it was when women weren't yet allowed to vote or set foot out of the kitchen.

What gets me is the double standard of shaming girls (women) for having sex with different men by calling them you know (not sure if I can use the terms) and basically cheering on men for having sex with different women by saying "Boys will be boys!" or "Sewing their wild oats" or whatever.

That's why we, His followers, are here. We are His disciples and His ambassadors.

Be a sheep and not a goat (Matthew 25:31-46).

What a terrible thing to say, but at least someone is actually being honest that this issue really isn't about life, but about punishment, power, and control over women.

Amen. What is this sense of superiority one sinner should feel over another? Who has the right to throw the first stone at a pregnant woman?

So because he thinks this it is projected onto all Christians? Doesn't follow.
