Just for the record, I completely support her choice in handling that situation. I also support women who choose to do differently in that situation.

I would like to think everyone would support a woman's right to control her own body. It is called freedom and women should be included in being free.

Her body is no longer only her body when a woman is expecting. She also holds another human life within herself.

That is just a difference of opinion. I respect your right believe that. It is too bad some people can't respect the opinion of those who recognize that during construction, there is no 'human life' there.

"God has a plan" . she said. Was the rape a part of it?
Hardly the most horrifying thing attributed to a divine plan.

Well thats quite easy to say - but many others think otherwise when:

They have been beaten and raped by a pack of men and fall pregnant and contract an STI.

OR have cervical cancer and need to get rid of the foetus along with the uterus

OR have Leukaemia and know that the pregnancy decreases the chances of remission

OR have irretractable eclampsia sending their blood pressure skyrocketing and increasing their probability of stroke

OR one of many scenarios

One thing for sure is that its the woman's body. So many men here comment how terrible it is that the woman makes a choice to terminate...... well all I can say is if men took more responsibility .... either supporting the pregnancy or using condoms (which by the way the Catholic Church forbids - ridiculous as that is) or not raping....then we wouldn't be having this debate so often.

I'm also wondering why it is that I see so many christians here so critical of women who need single mother's social support.... yet they are so adamant the woman must keep the child - its an outright hypocritical stance.

Given all the sex-abuse scandal the the Catholic Church is facing,
what happens to children already born should probably be higher
on their list of concerns than what happens to those not yet born.

Both are important. Both matter.

Real freedom is freedom from being a slave to Satan.

Huh? That's a bit obtuse. Are you saying women in these predicaments are evil and enslaved by a evil spirit or.... What exactly are you getting at

It sure doesn't seem that way.

For those who are curious, I didn't have a rosy childhood. My father (even though my parents divorced just before I turned nine) was a staunch atheist, my mother was somewhat of a deist, I had 2 stepfathers, the last one was an alcoholic and I'll skip the other details.

The whole world is in the power of Satan. That is scripture. Christians were also in Satan's power. I'm not judging anyone. People want freedom to do whatever is in their mind to do. But all are slaves to Satan until they are freed from Satan's power.

I'm very sorry for people whose lives are miserable and I am compassionate. I'm not wealthy or highly educated. That doesn't mean that I don't care.

Some would. I am not saying carrying the child would be easy, or that the incredible pain of the rape wouldn't still be there. Sexual abuse never truly goes away. But the child is still going to be a child. An unborn human. Someone living within the mother.

It's a evil seed to me.

No, it is not.

Legally, she can choose to kill her child. This is true.

It is not a child....and even if it were, there is no obligation on anyone to be made to give their body over to the use of another.

Consider...I’m in a coma after a traffic accident. I awake to find that doctors have hooked someone else up to my body, because their kidneys/liver/whatever have failed and they will perish without the use of my organs. A rare tissue match means that I am the only one that can assure their survival.

Do I have the right to demand they be disconnected? I say I do.... Do I have the right to maintain the connection, permitting them to live? I say I do....

I have a right to choose as to who can make use of my body....
