Boys Will Be Boys — and Should Be — to Become True Men
One aspect of this which has been increasingly apparent for the last 3 decades is the negative portrayal of boys and men on the sitcoms that entertain us. It is not as universal now as it once was; but the men were usually shown as witless oafs that needed their wives to change a light bulb, think of Michael Keaton in "Mr. Mom". The odd thing is that this is so foreign to reality it begs the question of their motivation for this. I know they played this up for laughs and that's fine; but when the same stereotype is promoted again and again it smacks of a concerted effort to social engineer.
