Does anyone know if there is a stand-alone version of Facebook’s language translation tool, similar to Bing Translate and Google Translate?

The reason I ask is that I’d like to know how Facebook is rendering what I say in other languages before actually posting it. I’ve got connections from other countries whose English is minimal, and I try to run what I say through Bing/Google translators before posting it so that I can be sure the meaning therein will remain intact once they translate it over to their preferred language. Some meanings really do get “lost in translation”, depending on the language they're being converted over to.

Hence, my inquiry.

Reminiscent of...

And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter. And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded. And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech. So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.

Sooooo.... no one knows, I take it? :sorry:

No worries -- I had Googled about it previously and only found articles that left me with the general impression that Facebook uses some sort of AI hooziewhatsis to do the translating.

I figured it'd be worth a shot to ask, though!

I would assume not; most of Facebook's services are integrated directly in.

You could post it to yourself and just set the privacy so only you can see it. It's a very roundabout way, but it's an option.
That's a great idea! Thank you!
