• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I wasn't really sure which section to put this in, but I'm honestly feeling so hurt and invalidated right now so I need to get it out. As everybody surely knows tensions all across the internet have been running high because of the abortion debate. I've been pretty passionate about it because I am one of the people pro-choicers so often use as a pawn to justify their own point of view; according to them people like me should be aborted and spared a life of suffering and such.

Well, just today my family started freaking out at me for my views. It resulted in me having a complete mental breakdown. I was crying and everything, trying to express in words how I felt about so many people like me being used to justify abortion(disabled and poor). The entire debate has honestly made me feel like a useless burden, doubly so since I actually serve to validate many of the statistics regarding people like me due to the fact I'm unemployed. My family getting angry of course only added fuel to the fire.

Find your validation in God and in the truths of his Word and not in humans. There are all kinds of wild stories being spread throughout social media and on the news intended to stir emotions and to get people inflamed and at odds with each other. This is of Satan who wants to drive a wedge between all people, but especially between true followers of Jesus and the rest of the world, and to turn Christian against Christian, too.

For Satan and his army to conquer the world (Rev. 12-14), they have to first create chaos and unrest so that they can then go in to "save the day" with their preconceived plan for how to solve the ills of society. And, that is where this rule of the beast comes to play and his one-world religion, which is a plan to bring all people into harmony (unity) with one another via the beast and his false prophet. Truly, that is where this is all headed.

I know it hurts. I know from personal experience. I am not disabled, but I have had my share of things that have gotten me rejected and mistreated over the years, too. So, I do empathize with your suffering. But, if we let people define who we are, then we are in sad shape, and we will fall apart, as you described. So, we have to get our value from God by faith in Jesus Christ, via surrender to his Lordship over our lives.

So, I would recommend spending a whole lot less time on the internet, especially on social media or in discussions where these types of issues are heated right now, and I would, if I were you, focus my time and attention in the Word of God and in godly music and lyrics which lead us into fellowship with our Lord and which encourage our souls. Surround yourself with people who love the Lord, and who believe his Word, and follow the Lord Jesus with your life, and there you will find joy, peace and fulfillment.

Spending less time on the internet is unfortunately easier said than done in my case. I don't really have anything outside of it. No friends, no support, and now even my own family seems to be against me.

I am in a slightly similar position. I just have to force myself off the net, and force myself to sit down, and pray. That's it.

I could bring up a good amount of scripture talking abt how this is in your favor, but I would rather go the simple route of saying "it shouldn't be a surprise" cus even I've went through those times of feelin like I was worth nothin and it only strengthened when I read the bible.. sometimes u just got to go with the flow, and thats not a easy thing to do.......... one more thing, pro-choicers say that abt everyone thats against abortion lol!

Mind explaining why your family was angry, and who are these angry family members?

My mum and sister were angry because I'm pro-life.
God is the Good and Holy Author of Life. I'm wondering (because I really don't know) if your mum and sister are also angry with God, or just with you? Do you know?

None of them are Christians or even believers so they likely blame God and faith for my stance in part.

Oh, then it seems that they may be cut-off from God. When I was cut off from God, through my own unbelief and hard heart, I was in a woefully bad way. Based on my experience, I think that your family are too, from what you've said. Whenever we encounter such people, God tells us we must pray for them to be healed, so that they too may come to know the Love of God, and to experience the joy that this knowledge brings. God tells us to pray for them because, the very act of praying for them while in God's presence will also allow Him to heal our own heart, when He fills our heart with His Love by the Holy Spirit.

For this reason, we always pray to God to have mercy on, and to forgive those who say and do things that make us feel bad, or hurt, or angry. We may also add a prayer for help to be able to forgive them ourselves, and last but not least, add the prayer that begs mercy and forgiveness for ourselves as the greatest of sinners. We know that He won't ever fail to answer such prayers, so we persevere in them, regardless how we may be distracted by our own troublesome feelings and thoughts while sincerely trying to pray this way.

Does this seem to make sense, or do I lack true understanding about your troubles? Forgive me, please, If I'm in error.

God is the one who validates. God chooses, not the world. If he can choose me, he can choose anyone!

1 Corinthians 1: 26-31
26Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29so that no one may boast before him. 30It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 31Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.”

For many years I felt like I was nothing in the world, laughed at, considered a loser, left out of things. It hurt so badly for so very long. But now the pain is gone, the painful hurtful memories no longer hold me to ransom and I love those verses I included above. The Lord Jesus loves you and wants you to draw near to Him.
