Why do people from uni who drink a lot not get addicted then and is there a reason you think I would be likely to become addicted.
Do you think there is anything wrong in socialising in this way with non-Christians. I really want to make friendships and develop my feelings for women again as I used to have strongly.

Actually, come to think of it, there is (almost) certainly an AA chapter at your uni.

Look and see if there is one.

AA meetings fall into one of two categories - Open or Closed. If it's closed, it's not open to anyone who doesn't know they have an alcohol problem. If it's Open, it's open to anyone, family, friends, curious, medicial professionals who want to study alcoholism, people with too much time on their hands, whatever. Most meetings are Open.

See if there is an Open one on campus and go; here's what (I think) will happen -

You'll find a new group of friends and social network pursuing a spiritual basis for life.
You'll find a new way of life, dedicated to helping others
You will find that they are interested in finding lots of activities that aren't centered on alcohol
You'll have a good understanding of what happens when alcohol gets out of control

Very well done for your dedication in staying sober. It is not easy as there is always the temptation to try and that one try is never enough. I'm a bit scared to try alcohol now but I think it is my way to integrate with my peers.
Are you christian? If yes do you think it is ok to try to integrate with your peers?
Also do you know how to block people on this site? Some people keep replying to my threads when I have asked them not too - they are old celibate people who are telling me my problems arent that big of deal and that I should embrace celibacy when I have told them I don't want that lifestyle.
Thank you.
I may be going to a quiz tomorrow night. Someone from work invited me and then I have invited someone else from work who I hope will go as they are funny.

I am, yes. I have plenty of non-Christian friends and peers.
To block someone, click on their name, and a small popup describing their profile will come up. There is a link on that Popup where you can choose to Ignore them. All their posts become invisible at that point.

Thanks. you are the nicest person on this website. Lots of other people here act all like almighty [insert expletive]. They say stop acting like it such a big deal and focus on other things when surely you can imagine that not loving women anymore is extremey tough for a guy.

I apologise for resurrecting a concluded thread, but this was the first one that came up when I was searching how to block someone on this site. If you put a person on ignore, are your posts invisible to them, as well as theirs to you? Thanks :)

I don't think so? I believe it's a one way street, but I've never pushed the envelope, so to speak ;)

No he's not. You can't worship Mary. You can't go to priests for forgiveness.
What about those things are hidden?
Who is the personality cult leader?

Without one of those things, you do not have a cult.

That does not work. There have been popes after popes after popes.

None of them were a Sun Myung Moon or a David Koresh.

Personality cults either disappear or undergo radical changes when the cult personality dies.

I'm not saved.
brother, we are lonely, lose sexuality, lose desire, you name it due to sin. In Christ our sin has been removed, so we are offered a new life. We are able to be set free from sin's curse. I would say therapy might be a good option, but therapy cannot bring you true joy of being in Christ. Therapy also cannot give you eternal life. The fact that you are on a Christian forum, makes me wonder, why are you here? I suggest, what you are "seeking" is something that only God can fill. Try watching this free movie, put out by ray comfort. I think it reveals the true nature of Christianity, and why some people are empty inside without it:

you're not saved either. A pastor at my church said that catholicism is a cult.
Well, IMO he is misusing the term "cult." It comes from the latin cultus meaning hidden. The catholic church has no hidden doctrines, practices or agendae. There is also a type of cult based on personality. It does not fit that model either.

As far as salvation goes, my bible reads thusly:

"All who call on the Name of the Lord shall be saved." Joel 3:32 quoted in Acts 2:21 and Romans 10:13.

I have been there before and I can clearly tell you that bad company corrupts God morals, this is because they influence how you think, and what you think determines what you feel in your heart and visualize, you might begin by sinning in thoughts and heart without knowing but that is just a step away from actually falling. When you are still young what you need is the sincere milk of the word of God to enable you to grow. I have written extensively about these things in my book. Please make an effort to read it so as to enjoy your College life with God. Once you are helped please share also with others to help them get established. You can find the book here 'About My Father's Business' - Doing God's Will In Your Youth, an Ebook by Bonface Khatete

Anyone who believes in Christ and has repented is saved, many catholics are saved. But the organization of the catholic church uses something called the catechism of the catholic church and it is written by the Pope, and in that catechism it teaches there are seven sacraments. And if you don't perform the seven you are not saved. One is baptism, one is communion, one is mass, one is confession, one is marriage. So if you don't go to church regularly and get your communion you are not saved. That to me is not the gospel of Jesus. But yes to answer your question catholics can be saved, it's just that rome has confused salvation to be based on our efforts not our faith.
