1. How is one sanctified?

2. Is sanctification an end to itself or is there a third level to knowing Jesus?

3. Is sanctification a process?
AoG teaches that 'sanctification is an act of separation from that which is evil and of dedication to God. It occurs when the believer identifies with and has faith in Christ,in His death and resurrection. It is understood to be a process in that it requires continued yielding to the Holy Spirit. (Romans 12:1-2) (1 Thessalonians 5:23) (Hebrews 13:12)

The Holiness Movement in the 20th century separated themselves from the newly formed Pentecostal Movement over the doctrine of holiness and also over tongues.

In the HM, baptism of the Spirit was the crisis whereby a man is entirely sanctified and not about giftings though they are frequently given as well. Pentecostals today like to think they came out of the HM but they have more in common with the spiritual manifestations of non Christian religions.

Sanctification is both a process and an event but the event must take place in this life. There is a process leading up to it whereby a man usually comes to a place of utter failure in his walk, as he has not learned the power of the cross in separating him from his sin nature.

I do not agree that Pentecostals have more in common with non Christian manifestations.

Though it may have just as the Apostle described “continued right on doing that which I would not”, have you forgotten the treatment of guarding others from stumbling? The communing of God’s correction of his son though true, needs to be maintained in proper perspective.

“, , let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;”

(Ephesians 5:3)

Can you elaborate please or at least give examples?

Jessie Penn-Lewis wrote a book just after the revival in Wales, to warn about the manifestations that occured there including those that can be seen in religions such as Hinduism and Islam and in the new Pentecostalsim and now in charismatic circles. These include speaking 'gibberish'.

Speaking in tongues as inspired by the Holy Spirit is not gibberish'. Are you Pentecostal?

Does she promote this 'gibberish' as demonic?

It should be clear as day,

", , do not forbid speaking in tongues."

But I am not interested in which way the heart tries in futile energy to reduce that message, but to expect what He said has indeed reached all the way to you and I. We too are the recipients of the promise!

How does this tie in with sanctification? Isn't this also clear? Since sanctification is fundamentally a work of the Spirit, to forward the enticement to quench Him wouldn't do well to continue either of His works!
