As recorded in Luke 13:3, the Lord Jesus Christ said: I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
Acts 2:38 says: Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Acts 16:31 says: And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
What does this mean? How do faith and repentance go together? What does repentance mean?
Some may say that repentance is a "works". Do you view repentance as a "works"? I do believe that only God's sacrifice through the Lord Jesus Christ saves us from our sins.
Hypothetically, say a child hears the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and believes in the Lord Jesus Christ's crucifixion and resurrection, but does not pray to God to ask Him to forgive his or her sins in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Then when he or she is older, he or she asks God to forgive his or her sins in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and trusts in God to help him or her to turn away from sin. When was he or she adopted as a child of God through the Lord Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit?
I believe that one needs to have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ to repent of his or her sins, and that repentance cannot happen without faith in the God YHWH. What I would like to know is what according to the Bible is repentance, and at what moment is an individual saved by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ?
