Do you believe that you were, by nature, the same as those who are children of wrath?
Those who suffer wrath are those who have not chosen faith. Nature has nothing to do with it. God has everything to do with the human condition and He chose freely to free man from sin. We enjoy that freedom with Him through faith.

Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.

Nature=sinner. You are holding sin upon all men and women if you do not allow God's free will ; His Son to die for ALL who have sinned.

I believe "nature" refers to our fallen state.
I know and that is sin. The first sin Adam and Eve. They chose to disobey and we choose it as well but we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ of Nazareth and He has given us the Holy Spirit so we can be more like Him.

Simple straightforward question. Does sinful man (all of us) deserve the justice of God?

Hello Hammster, greetings all,

Simple answer: yes, we deserve God's justice. Reason being, it’s the only game in town. He makes the rules; the rules are enforced. Nothing we can do about it. He is a just God, fair in all His dealings with us.

If we are thinking, “God isn’t just, or “fair,” to us because He finds us guilty by reason of what Adam did, consider this: It does not seem fair we are guilty because of what another man did, ending up dead. It also does not seem fair that we receive eternal life because of what another man did.

One man does something and all of mankind suffers or is blessed. It looks fair and just to me. It is a great deal. I happily exchange my three score and ten for eternity.

I can choose to shake my fist, demand justice and bring my case before the court of heaven but I still will be found guilty for my own sins. I am guilty of my father’s sins and I am guilty of my own.

I deserve justice but I do not want it. I don’t want mercy either. Mercy would be not losing my life, but only receiving what I deserve because of my works. I want grace where I have eternal life that I don’t deserve and all the good things I have never asked for or imagined. I want all the blessings God will share with me.

You aren’t following the argument here. We are all, by nature, children of wrath. This means that we all deserve justice reserved for the unrepentant.

Except Paul goes on to explain that nobody does good.
Sadly he did not include the whole quote from David. David was not speaking of every person, but instead he was speaking of those who do not believe there is a God, these he calls fools.

Ps. 14
To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.

The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.
They are corrupt,
they have done abominable works,
there is none that doeth good.

2 The LORD looks down from heaven upon the sons of men to see if any understand, if any seek God.
3 All have turned away, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.
4 Will the workers of iniquity never learn?
They devour My people like bread; they refuse to call upon the LORD

'They' are the fools, the atheists, these are the ones who don't do good.

He wasn’t giving a reference to look up. What he said is what he meant. So it wasn’t sad. It was inspired.

Jesus sort of grabbed my attention with this post.

The answer I had thought up was that "in Ezekial (18ish) it is set out that if a son does good, he will be rewarded, if a son does not do good he will be punished".

In other words, all men deserve something, but it depends on their conduct.

Yes, because He's the Creator and we are the creatures.

How about this for a question:

Does the new creature in Messiah deserve the Creator's justice?

Yes.

As a sinner, all (the only thing) we get and deserve is His justice, because no matter what, we remain His creation.

As His sons and daughters, we get His justice and so much more!
