Some churches claim the mark of the believer or christian is the sabbath.
If this was true i would strongly consider going to that church.

Using the Bible can any one tell me what they think is the mark of the christian.

Ofcourse we've all heard of the mark of the beast which relates to pay for goods and services using some mark or device. (Revelation + mark of the beast + google or bing search)

questions or comments?

The mark of a follower of God is that we walk in His ways and express His character traits through our actions in accordance with His nature. By doing so we are acting as a light to the world, testifying to the world about who God is, and are bringing glory to His name (Matthew 5:13-16, Isaiah 49:6). There are many verses that describe the Mosaic Law as being instructions for how to walk in God's ways, such as Deuteronomy 10:12-13, Isaiah 2:2-3, Joshua 22:5, Psalm 103:7, and many others, so the Law was primarily given to teach us how to express God's character traits, such as holiness, righteousness, goodness, justice, mercy, faithfulness, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, and self-control. Jesus expressed these character traits through his actions and what that looked like was complete obedience to the Mosaic Law, so that is what it should look like when we are in Christ and are meeting our obligation to walk in the same way he walked (1 John 2:6). Our sanctification is about being made to be more like Christ, to have to to express the same character traits, and through following his example of obedience to the Law, we are testifying about who he is (1 Peter 2:21-22). In Deuteronomy 4:5-8, the intended reaction from the nations seeing Israel's obedience to God's Law was to marvel at how righteous and wise God is, so again it was about testifying to who God is.

For example, in 1 Peter 1:16, we are told to have a holy conduct for God is holy, which is a quote from Leviticus where God was giving instructions for how to have a holy conduct, which straightforwardly includes keeping God's Sabbaths holy (Leviticus 19:2-3), so by obeying those instructions, we are testifying to who God is. So following Christ's example of keeping the Sabbath holy straightforwardly marks us as a his follower, thought that is not the only thing that he taught us to follow, so it is not the only thing that marks us as his follower.

I would list why i disagree with this but that would break forum rules. If for some reason your interested in my answer (no wrong answer) send me a private message or email me as my profile says.

(Romans 8:9 and Ephesians 1:13) answer this question, without question.

1 John 4:8 is most definitely an important factor.

How does this relate?

Mark and Seal are the same thing. The Seal of God is the Holy Spirit. Per Romans 8:9 and Ephesians 1:13... this is simple... Romans 10:1-13 spells out how to get that Mark/Seal of God.

1 John 4:8 should never be forgotten

Mark / Seal / Stamp ... like a seal or mark made on wax to send a letter and show its author.

Exodus 39:30. -> Signet...
  1. a small seal, especially one set in a ring, used instead of or with a signature to give authentication to an official document.

That’s biblical!

What Paul spells out in the Romans 10:1-13 is the answer to your question.

In Galatians... Paul calls anyone “Anathema / Cursed” who teaches otherwise.

Well love shows the world we are followers of Jesus. I do not know if that is an actual mark.

The sealing of teh Spirit makes us a believer but that also is not an actual physical mark.

There is no "stigmata" that believers have! It si the new life given us that shows we are Christians.

there is no Sabbath for the Church. A careful reading of teh OT shows that the Sabbath is between God and Israel alone!

You read the Epistles (what I call the constitution of the church) You see nine of the 10 commandments written in stone brought forward. But the Sabbath day was not. Our only command is to forsake not the assembling of ourselves together!

Sunday is traditional because the early Jewish believers would stay after synagogue or temple after teh Sabbath (when the first three stars appeared in teh sky it was considered Sunday) and speak of jesus!
