Sunday: the Sun's Day. Sunday is the seventh day of the week according to the international standard ISO 8601. However, many countries, including the US, Canada and Japan, count Sunday as the first day of the week. Sunday is named after the Sun. The seventh day of the week is the Sun's day.

The Jews say the sabbath is on Saturday. Does it matter what day of the week the Sabbath is?
As long as it is consistently the same day.

"The Sabbath was made for man right?"

Nothing against the Jews, i just see it is as an arbituary issue.
Scripture also recognizes Sunday as the first day of the week. It is not arbitrary, it is the day God rested and in turn He made that day Holy so that all would rest.

Matthew- Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb.

I believe that before Christ's death and resurrection, Saturday was the Sabbath, which the Jews switched to begin Friday night and end Saturday night, but after Christ rose, it became Sunday.
Here is my logic:
Christ was 3 days in the grave. The New Testament says the Jews removed the dead bodies before the sabbath, so they removed and buried him in a tomb on Thursday, thus he was in the grave 3 nights, Thursday, Friday and Saturday and rose on Sunday.
Episcopalians have a Maundy Thursday service which is somber, recognizing the death of our Lord. That's what got me thinking about it..
But the New Testament also says that to one man one day is holy, and to another they are all the same (or something like that) so I don't think we are under the law abut it, but on the other hand, Jesus said he came to fulfill the law, not to abolish it, and that not one part would be eliminated, so I also think we can tend to take the Sabbath too lightly.

Sunday never became the Sabbath. He died on Friday, rested in the tomb on the Sabbath and rose on Sunday. He rose on the 3rd day.

Some churches claim that when the anti christ comes, that he will entice people to fall away from christianity because they accepted the wrong sabbath day.

This is likely a reference to the book of Daniel's "little horn",

"He shall speak words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High, and shall think to change the times and the law; and they shall be given into his hand for a time, times, and half a time." (Daniel 7:25)

The text doesn't identify this "little horn" as the Antichrist, though that is how some interpret it. More than likely this is a reference to Antiochus IV Epiphanes, an evil king of the Seleucid Empire (one of the successor states to Alexander the Great's Empire). During the Syrian Wars the Jews were caught between the conflicts between Ptolemaic Egypt and Seleucid Syria, with Judea having mostly been under Ptolemaic control until the Seleucids took control of the region under Antiochus IV. Antiochus forced an oppressive system of forced Hellenization upon the Jews, and under these laws forbid the Jews from following their religion--he forbade circumcision, resting on the Sabbath, etc. The worst of the worst occurred when Antiochus had a pig sacrificed to Zeus in the Holy of Holies of the Jewish Temple. This "abomination which causes desolation" is what ultimately led to the Maccabean Revolt, which was eventually successful in overthrowing Seleucid rule and gaining independence for the Jews for a short time. Jewish independence lasted until the Roman conquests of the region under Julius Caesar's general Pompeii.

Wasn't antiochus the 4th 2 to 4 hundred years before Christ? I know Antiochus the 4th's grandson Mithradates was before Christ.

Antiochus the 4th was before Christ and so was his grandson Mithradates.

Yes. What was being spoken about in Daniel are things which happened hundreds of years before Jesus.

You are reading from one of the adulterated modern versions of the Bible. It leaves out the condition on verse 1.

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

As for what in those verses says you won't sin, is only a true Christian is filled with the Spirit, and no longer walks in the flesh. The flesh cannot please God, and those that fulfill the lusts of the flesh will not inherit the kingdom of God. Galatians 5:19-21. But verse 9 says a Christian is NOT IN THE FLESH BUT IN THE SPIRIT! It also says that those without the Spirit do not belong to God.

That doesn't mean sometimes your in and sometimes our out. You must "endure to the end to be saved". In other words, you must continue to walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh.

I've posted about it a couple of times :)

Yes. Read the Epistle of Barnabas, the 15th chapter. (Not the "Gospel" of Barnabas - that's Muslim.

I used the version this site. Typically i use a major version of the Bible. "The Bible is clear, Once Saved Always Saved"

Then is becomes a question when are you truly saved, instead of just "being" saved. Some scripture says when you endure to the end.

true, it is expedient to not to sin to avoid temporal punishment. Christians can be severely punished but they cannot suffer forever in hell. This is Biblical.

You are listening to good news teachers who want to fill their pews.

Matthew 7:
13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

it would appear that way. If you like see what some of the Calvinists say about his issue on the many NOSAS/OSAS threads. If you like for whatever reason send me a private message or email as is said in my profile.

Listen to a Calvinist???????? Now that's funny. I'd run from the church that Jesus said, "you have a reputation for being alive, but you are dead." In other words, their message of no sin can separate you from God will lead many suckers to hell.
