I have only recently been in this part of CF and just want to say how much I am enjoying joining in the different word games.
Sometimes out in some other parts of the forums it gets intense.

This is light hearted and fun, whilst thinking as well, so thanks everyone here.
I love it!

Some discussions can be very serious and intense and can even reach to a point where they become some sort of an argument, personal attack, calling names and such. It is definitely very unpleasant. However, thank God that there is still a small part of this forum that provides a little cooling room for stuff that is simple, yet fun. At the same time, it feels like having family members spending siesta time, and have tea time together.

I agree.

It's threads like these that bring out what is positive about the forums - a place to unwind and relax, a place for Christian companionship, sharing ideas without getting too intense!

There's nothing wrong with debate, it can be very good. But I think people sometimes forget that we are believers from all walks of life, with a variety of theological perspectives on a wide range of matters, and no-one has complete monopoly over the truth. Sadly, I have seen a lot of backbiting and insults exchanged in some recent threads which fall seriously short of the kind of behaviour Christ expects from his followers. There is a lot of power in our words, power to acquit and condemn - our comments have far-reaching consequences and can be a major stumbling block to others, especially those who have not come to faith.

anyway rant over......

I am intrigued by this word game. Can anyone teach me how to play it? :)

The easiest way is to choose whichever or all the ones that you like, then look at a few of the posts which will show you how its done if you need clarification of the headings ( I did it like this) for instance there is "word association", drop a letter to make a new word", use the last 2 letters to make a new word" and so on.
I agree with all on your post and I'm sure that you will enjoy it too, its really nice and great fun.:)

My brain is a little worn out this week (must be the weather!) so I think I'll need to see an example of how it's done - and then I'll have a go! :)

It's so nice to see these comments. :) In the past we have had people questioning or sometimes criticising us for playing word games etc. But we have built up good friendships over the years, and I agree with you all that it is lovely to have a gentle place to come to. Maybe because we are older we have learnt that we can agree to differ on non-essential issues, so there is no need to discuss them.

Also by our age most of us have probably had difficult experiences, or are even going through them. I found a bit of light relief so welcome when I joined GE 12 years ago. I was just coming out of a horrible time in my life and the light-hearted games and fellowship in the forum were a real blessing to me.
