The main Bible version of the church I once belonged to was the NWT.
That's the translation that's used by Jehovah's Witnesses, isn't it? In fact, that translation was made by a group from the Watchtower Society as a means of supporting specific JW/Watchtower doctrines, doctrines that stand in opposition to certain Christian doctrines, such as the Trinity, right?

Thanks!

We're all free to choose our own. The preacher reads from HCSB when preaching, and that's what the pew Bibles are. Any deacons substituting for the week might read from that, or from the NKJV, or from the old KJV, or whatever their choice. NIV is not common. It isn't forbidden; no version is, but a lot of us in the congregation don't like it much.

A good discussion on the NWT is found in "gotquestions.org" at
Is the New World Translation a valid version of the Bible?

I know in my church most bring their personal Bible or device with a Bible App.
Mine too. In my case it's usually the NASB although often the ESV.

There are none in the pews. But we give out both English and Spanish copies of the scriptures to anyone who wants one. I believe the Spanish version is based on the New King James.

That's not really a question but a statement of the extremely low PERSONAL opinion that you have in reference to that translation. Right? WEll, to answer your question in the affirmative, I would have to ageree that all the doctrines that you might be tagging as Christian are genuinely Christian. Since there are many ideas from paganism that were incorprated into Christendom centuries after the last Apostle was dead, I cannot agree that just because the NWT doesn't go along with that movement, it is attacking genuine Christian doctrine.

In fact, a careful examination of many translations will reveal that they purposefully mistranslate the original languages in an effort to support unchristian doctrines. For example, translating Gehena, Tartarus, and sheol as hell in order to propagate the notion of eternal torture as punishment for sin is one way. Twisting word order, so that it reads completely different from the original, is another.

So one has to be very careful in accepting EVERYTHING that is translated differently from how the NWT translates it as correct just because it differs from the NWT. Instead, one must examine the original text to see whether the translator or translators took liberties with the original language in order to push a totally unbibilcal concept.

A study published in 2014 by The Center for the Study of Religion and American Culture at Indiana University and Purdue University found that Americans read versions of the Bible as follows:

  1. King James Version (55%)
  2. New International Version (19%)
  3. New Revised Standard Version (7%)
  4. New American Bible (6%)
  5. The Living Bible (5%)
  6. All other translations (8%)

Not looking for personal choice, but what Bible versions are found in your pews? I would also assume that is the Bible version your pastor preaches/teaches from as they can say "please turn to page #X."

I know in my church most bring their personal Bible or device with a Bible App.

For my church we use the ESV. I went to a friend's LCMS Lutheran church for the baptism of his twin grandkids. I noticed the ESV in the pews there.
there is no official or unofficial versions in my church and there are no pew bibles or "turn to page x". The pastor may favour a translation over another but will often use different translations probably that better stress the point being made.

ESV, I don't think the Synod has an official version though.

ALL of them. (well, there's a few so bad not to be used, but for a while maybe)
I would think your assembly would make use of David Stern’s Complete Jewish Bible.

I have heard my pastor say the New American Standard is the most accurate Bible. And this is in the seat pouches. But different ones of us use different translations.
Thank you. A very good friend who is a ThD also favors the NASB word for word literal translation.

The Orthodox Study Bible:

NT: New King James Version OT: St. Athanasius Academy Septuagint
You still use the OSB (have a copy love it) even though The EOB New Testament of the official Greek Orthodox text called the Patriarchal Text of 1904 is available?

Our official version that readers read out of is NKJV

Continuing Anglicans have hung their hat on the KJV. That said, the BCP follows a particular school's standard text (I think Cambridge) which is not identical to most of the cheap KJVs floating around in bookstores like Lifeway. Also, even though KJV is the standard, my Bishop will approve parishes to read from ESV, NASB, or NKJV if it seems expedient for pastoral reasons. And on those occasions when the KJV is very obtuse my rector, who is a Greek teacher, will make his own translation from time to time.
