Is it wrong for a suffering christian to wish to go to heaven soon? Or in other words die?

There seems to be alot of people on this forum to want to stay alive.

I would like to add the following notion:
On a separate note a persons value at any given point in time is comprised of 100s of variables
and each variable in the equation is weighted differently. Each variable would take a tremendous about of
investigating to ascertain the value of that variable. I believe this notion is absolutely necessary for
any forum topic unless that forum topic is what is the best flavor of ice cream.

That being said i don't believe having a death wish makes you a good person but it just seems like alot of the people on this forum think having a death wish is strange. To me it is not strange at all, i just want to die naturally. Questions and comments?

Paul with others despaired of life a time or two, not selfishly, but in serving others....

2 Corinthians 1:8-9 (NASB) For we do not want you to be unaware, brethren, of our affliction which came to us in Asia, that we were burdened excessively, beyond our strength, so that we despaired even of life; indeed, we had the sentence of death within ourselves so that we would not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead;

thank you. But remember this is a online forum. You probably already knew this but many people on this forum forget that.

I know it is an online 'Christian' Forum, that is why I used Scripture given to us by a God who can alone handle a trillion variables simultaneously. But anyhow.

I believe Jesus practices euthanasia all the time. I'm not strongly for or against Calvinism. However Calvinism aknowledges euthanasia.
So the first wine (mixed with myrrh) was designed to dull Jesus’ pain, to keep him from having to endure the cross with full consciousness. This wine he refused.

yeah i agree with that but i believe that is a separate issue. If Jesus thought i was going to do something that would cause me to lose my salvation from eternal suffering tonight then he would kill me tonight. I believe Jesus watches me and his sheep to keep us safe from second death (eternal hell). See you in heaven brothers.

I'll pray for you! We shouldn't want to die, because we're serving God while we're alive. And there's nothing better.

when we are ill in a bed is a critical point when we have to make peace with god and it's crucial to go heaven or hell

I don't happen to buy that form of fried ice cream. The flavors are beyond human calculation and so the value of each flavor is indeterminable except by God Himself. Look to Him.

I don't think there is a right or wrong answer, it depends upon the person... but based upon my experiences I think depth and duration of suffering plays a significant role.

When my Dad was dieing of cancer at 92, he chose hospice from diagnosis, since he wanted the maximum quality of life, even if the quantity of life would be reduced. And yet, each day he was alive, he thanked God for that day and prayed for another one, even up until the day he lost consciousness.

My late wife otoh, was bed confined / paralyzed with MS for her last 11 years... and with docs fear of addiction / opioid rebound they would not prescribe opioids up until her last 4 months or so. Over those years of bed confinement and severe pain at times, she'd often pray that Jesus would take her home. I totally got that.

I don't think the folks who think having a death wish as strange have ever experienced either themselves or their loved ones undergoing extreme suffering. I hope they never run into ER situations where you arrive moaning in pain and hardly able to speak, and leave screaming in pain as its now so much worse. I hope they never experience the horror of an anesthesia failure during surgery. I hope they never run into a scenario where morphine no longer provides pain relief. Medicine can do a lot for acute pain and suffering, but is limited, at least in the US, when it comes to cancer and chronic pain.

Paul wanted to be with Christ sooner as well. I don't think this was only because of his desire to be closer to Christ but also because he suffered a lot for his mission. Paul knew what it was to suffer badly.

It isn't wrong to express feelings of wanting to die to be with Christ so that you won't have to suffer anymore. Goodness knows I've felt and probably will feel like that more times than I can count. Even Job expressed a wish that he'd never been born and he didn't even know Christ. Him saying this was not counted as a sin.

I understand totally and agree with what you say.

I don't have a death wish as such but as Paul said "absent from the world, is present with God" I know what I would rather, but realise that my time is in Gods hands and I will be with Him when my time is done here.
