Our problem is that we are, as observed many years ago, "a nation of 300 million ego's", each doing their thing without regard to the consequence upon themselves or their nation.

I like those words brother, their better than mine, mine seem to cause anger ;-)

You're right. That's what's legal but it's not necessarily what's best for people, though.

Some debtors are forced into bankruptcy by the terms of contracts that they cannot pay. Bankruptcy law has eliminated "debtor prison".

Yes but its kinda hard to force that onto others like socialism does, isnt it?

It is very interesting that when a Christian reads those verses to an American explicitly saying it's for use within the Body of Christ, the American reflexively runs away screaming, "Socialism! Socialism!"

Satan has Americans so well trained.

The best way to avoid high interest rates is to not have credit cards.

Or just pay off the balance each month by the due date. Do this with a "Rewards Card", and you'll be making money off the credit card company and not be paying a cent in interest.

The only caveat is that retailers add the 5%+/- fee charged them by the credit card companies to the cost of goods sold. Everything would be cheaper if we all paid in cash. My dentist gives a 5% discount for cash payment.

Most places don’t give that discount, especially when smaller purchases are the norm. I pay the same at Target whether cash or card so I might as well use card and get a cut of that mark up.

Additionally, depending on the insurance they use for coverage, businesses can see a discount on their premiums by being strictly electronic payments and not dabbling in cash. Meaning they could offer lower prices with using cards if they so choose.

The reason some places give a discount for cash is because businesses are charged for handling credit cards. In my business, every person who uses a card that I can "swipe" costs me about 2.5% of each purchase. If I only have the card number (such as by phone), it costs me 5% on every purchase. A cash purchase saves me 2.5 to 5%.

No insurance company I deal with offers a discount on insurance.

I wasnt worried about socialism. Its unbiblical to force the church to give money, like in socialism, so i was concerned about that.

I've been doing that for a almost a year now. I put everything I can on it and then pay it off each month and get the cash back. I've received about ~$300 from Chase over that time.

Way to conflate American tax policy with Biblical doctrine.

As I said, that is the typical American response to scripture about how to handle resources within the Body of Christ--they deflect instantly by switching to American tax policy.

Try it yourself. You will always get that reaction...in America.

I was talking to a christian so i use scripture. I didnt conflate those two things but made a clear distinction between them. My original point was that socialism doesnt seek the kingdom of God. Furthermore the OP is conflating tax policy with scripture, not i.

If you think that unfettered capitalism is a sacrament from Heaven, you need to read Dickens.
At least start there.

Did you or did you not say that it’s unbiblical to levy taxes on a church?

Give unto Cesar. However do i promote Cesar's agenda or God's agenda? Does God force the church to give? God likes a cheerful giver only.

There is absolutely nothing in scripture to suggest that a Christian should not willingly pay every cent in taxes demanded by the king regardless of its purpose. In fact, the opposite is true: Their revolt against Rehoboam's unjust taxes was the reason the northern kingdom of Israel was destroyed.

Within the Body of Christ, there isn't a force of arms to be employed as the king would, however an unproductive, uncooperative member of the Body can be cut off.

I never said we dont pay taxes, i actually said the opposite. My point was that you cant promote socialism as the kingdom of God.
