The epistles of Paul. Most Christians don't bother reading ALL of them. They only read over and over a few passages from Paul's teachings, and yet, it forms the basis of the Nicene Creed and practically the core theology of modern Christianity.

But try and see if it doesn't give you headaches. Even Peter himself acknowledged they are difficult to understand.
. I love all of Paul's letters.:)

I don't think in favourites/unfavourites because it is all there for a reason and from God.
I do have difficulties with some of the Old Testament like others have said but that is due to me and my reading of it.
Genealogies can be hard going and sometimes my mind just goes blank but they do give the complete picture.
To my shame I have never been very good at history so whilst I find it amazing, I really have to take care so I understand it.

Having said that, the Bible isn't just a book to take bits and pieces out anyway so quiet, thoughtful reading is required.:)

This may come as a shock but Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are my least favs. I mean they are VERY important for Jesus story of course of what happened to Him. But seeing it SOOOO much that after awhile you get bored reading it since you know it word for word.

It can be for any reason. Be it that a certain book is too boring, too confusing, has one or more things that bother you.

So what would your least favorite book in the Bible be?
Through my recent listen through the bible, I've found that section of texts between the law and the wisdom texts my least favourite, too gangsta if you ask me.

I'd say Esther. King Xerxes was a jerk. Thinks he can just snap his fingers and expect his wife to perform like a trained seal for him and his drinking buddies. Then ditches her and chooses his next wife based on beauty alone. Then lets himself be puppeted into ordering genocide. Not a big fan of Haman either, but he ended up getting his just deserts.

James is too works oriented and at one point almost seems to contradict Paul. At one point Martin Luther stated that he wished that is wasn't in there for that reason.

Lamentations is probably the most depressing book.

Numbers is probably most likely to put you to sleep.

I had issues with the psalms as well, I was reminded of actual christian applications of them, when there were better instructions in the new testament. Cursing your enemies,.

It is the prayerbook of the Bible. I'm still going with Numbers.

It's like asking "what's your least favorite tool in the toolbox?"

There may be some that we use more often than others, but even the smallest and most obscure tools are invaluable in the right circumstances.

The early creeds are based on the Gospels.

James is too works oriented and at one point almost seems to contradict Paul. At one point Martin Luther stated that he wished that is wasn't in there for that reason.
Some historians believe that James' focus on works was to correct a misunderstanding from Paul's letters; that is, the idea that works don't matter in regards to salvation. The entire point of James' faith & works discussion was not to disagree that faith is how we are saved, but to point out that faith is something we must put effort in to maintain. Perhaps "faithfulness alone" would be a better way to word it; faith isn't a checkbox "Yep, I do this!", a method that Jesus repeatedly condemns in the Pharisees; rather, it's a way of life, maintaining a relationship. As anyone who's been in a long-term relationship can say, it isn't always easy, and you have to put effort in, or the relationship won't last very long.

But to answer to original question: I'm edgy about calling something my least favorite book; it seems prideful, to put my preferences upon the Inspired Scriptures. Still, I suppose Leviticus would be it, with all the listing of rules that don't even apply in the New Covenant; I understand it's historical importance, and some of it is still valid, but it's still hard for me to get through.

Interesting thread, thanks for sharing!

May God bless us all!

I'm genuinely surprised Psalms is considered a least favourite by someone. I just felt the need to share my surprise lol. I don't really have a least favourite in answer to the question.

I personally like the books of Maccabees one of the first books I ever started reading in the Bible, not that I’ve read much to begin with. I don’t think there’s a book I don’t find interesting.
