Jesus Christ is the King of Kings. But it seems to me these days that most people consider his Kingship in terms of his willingness to sacrifice Himself for the salvation of His people and His personal relationship with His church. But those things seem more to do with Him being our High priest to me. What people seem to forget is that our King sits on the very throne of God, has the allegiance of at least 100 million angels including the option to deploy at very least 12 legions of angels (every single one of which could probably take out the entire American military single handed), He is acknowledged by 2 billion believers in the church visible and many more in the church invisible. He manages an empire the size of the universe with all the riches and resources It contains and has a plan and personal relationship with everyone of his subjects and for all creation and beyond. Just the admin by itself must be a nightmare!!!!

Our King is awesome!

When did we lose this awareness of Jesus Kingship and start stressing his priesthood over his Kingship. Historically maybe his Kingship was stressed over His priesthood in the times of Crusades or at times in the Spanish, British and Byzantine Empires for instance. But in the modern era it seems Jesus is portrayed as our friend and our Saviour far more than as our Lord.

I do not hear people say things like I promised my King I would do …. therefore I will do …
OR My king has commanded so I do...

Is it is the individualism , narcissism and anti authoritarian streak of Western society that has crippled our awareness of Christ as King and the command - obey dimensions of our relationship with Him. Or is it the decline of the military as a significant force in our societies that has this impact. Or is it the triumph of Democracy over old European imperialisms that have so undermined the word "King" that it can no longer be used without massive qualification and explanation in our society.

our King sits on the very throne of God,
Along with things you have shared > our King Jesus rules each of us personally, by means of God's own peace in our "hearts" > Colossians 3:15.

So - - - yes, as you said . . . Jesus is personal with each of us. He has time and resources for every one of us. And God is doing all He is really committed to doing with each of us . . . especially in us.

And God our Heavenly Father does not only judge and resist and punish us when we go the wrong way, but He in us corrects us in our nature so we grow in obeying how He rules us in His peace.

Hebrews 12:4-14 talks about how God succeeds in correcting deeply every one of His children. This is guaranteed. And human kings often do not do well at truly correcting their subjects. They merely punish and execute them, or grant favors and praise to ones who obey them. But our Jesus King succeeds in changing us so we become His way, more and more.

And Jesus is "gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." (in Matthew 11:28-30)

So, Jesus does not rule us by wasting us and sacrificing us the way human rulers can use up people like toilet paper. Jesus in us is gentle and humble, making our emotions and feelings kind and personal and caring and peaceful; and He has us sharing as family. And He satisfies us to do what He guides us to do.

Plus, Jesus is our example.

"And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma." (Ephesians 5:2)

So, we obey our King by doing our sacrificing sweetly, and kindly caring for any and all others, with hope for them, like how Jesus on the cross had hope for any evil person.

Independence can be an idol, which ruins people from being able to love. Ones can not share in close involvement with others, because they worship and trust and depend on their independence. They can be their own tyrants, then, and dictators.

But in Jesus we share with one another >

"submitting to one another in the fear of God." (Ephesians 5:21)

Our relating, then, is "in the fear of God." To me, this means we relate in submission to how our Father in us in His peace rules us to relate. All our relating, then, is in sharing with our Father, as much as we have developed and matured in this.

We are submissive with each other, the way our Father has us being mutual. So, this is included in how we live with Jesus as our King. Therefore, we do not only use someone else to get what we want, and be mutual only with ones we hope to use, but God has us growing as His family in sharing with all of the other Jesus people who are doing this.

That notion of kingship is projecting human values onto God, instead of letting Jesus as an historical person define kingship, which he understands through servanthood. Jesus kingdom is therefore the gentle reign of grace in the human heart, not an outward kingdom as you suggest.

There is no King in all of history with anything like the resources of Christs Kingdom, the greatest empires that have been and gone are as nothing to the reality of his Kingdom. Even if he were not our High priest making possible our salvation by his sacrifice and love, the fact is Christ has more power and authority than any Emperor or combination of empires that have ever existed. Even a global authority dominated by an AntiChrist type figure would pale by comparison. He stepped down into the humility and servanthood you stress for 33 years out of his eternal existence. For most of time and beyond He has been an incomparably glorious King and since his ascension Kings and Emperors have knelt before Him. While our King is gentle and loving with His children and with His people there is nothing gentle about the flood which he commanded which wiped out the world of the time and its ecosystem, the genocide of the guilty in Egypt, Assyria and Canaan and about judgment Day.

Jesus has more than 100 million angels at his command (rev 5:11)
He has the option to call on an army of 12 legions of angels (Matthew 26:53)
His territories extend across the whole of creation seen and unseen (Heb 1:2-4)

in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. 4 So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.

Yes. I really got the Fear of the Lord Jesus Christ when I read that God has placed ALL AUTHORITY in Heaven and Earth into Jesus' hands. And the Scripture shows Jesus Christ will baptize EVERYONE with either the Holy Spirit or with Fire... the Lake of Fire. Today is the day of salvation. Jesus Christ is currently willing to receive everyone who comes to Him, but a Day is coming when He will Judge the nations and Jesus Christ will seperate the sheep from the goats, and whoever's name is not written in the Lambs Book of Life will be cast into the Everlasting Fire. The Good News is that Jesus Christ is RIGHT NOW willing to write your Name in the Lambs book of Life if you will come to Him. I hope everyone will, but I know there will be people who reject Jesus forever, and when the Father has given them enough time to repent, He will send Jesus Christ to Judge the living and the Dead by bringing His Sheep into everlasting life, and throwing the goats into Everlasting Fire reserved for the Devil and his angels.

Yes Jesus treats his sheep like people not pawns. If you are one of his people then he persuades and transforms you rather than punishes and ends you. But regardless of the superior character and behaviour of our King to all others the fact is He is the King and has no rivals whether or not a person belongs to Him. He is the true heir of all things and all things will be placed under him. Christians miss the global reality of who Jesus is because of the quality of their own personal relationship with the King. It is like the daughter who breaks into a dads office to give him some cakes she baked and to ask for a new dress for her birthday. She does not care that he is running a business empire on which billions depend and he makes her feel that there is nothing more important than their time and conversation together.

We submit to God and to Gods agenda. Our mutual submission is to God and Gods Agenda. That relationship can be creative in how we share words, deeds and songs. It is a Kingdom characterized by love for those who are members. But those who are not Gods children must still submit to Jesus as King, on bended knee at the Judgment. Even if the mountains fell and covered those who hide from the wrath of God that would give them no protection. Recognising Jesus as King is not just about subscribing to a club mission statement. It is about recognizing he is the heir of all things and people in creation with absolute authority overall

Thank you, Mind Light, for making the effort to share these things with us >

"God resists the proud" (in James 4:6 and also in 1 Peter 5:5); so Jesus is ruling the proud.

It is about recognizing he is the heir of all things and people in creation with absolute authority overall
amen

And Jesus wants to share with us much more than we might be trying to get for ourselves, from people we try to use.
