We understand the importance of keeping the commandments:
(Old Testament | Leviticus 22:31)
31 Therefore shall ye keep my commandments, and do them: I am the LORD.
(Old Testament | Deuteronomy 5:10)
10 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.
(New Testament | John 14:15 - 16)
15 ¶ If ye love me, keep my commandments.
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
(New Testament | John 14:23 - 24)
23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.
(Old Testament | Deuteronomy 6:2)
2 That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.
(Old Testament | Deuteronomy 7:9)
9 Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;
(Old Testament | Deuteronomy 8:6)
6 Therefore thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him.
(Old Testament | Deuteronomy 11:1)
1 THEREFORE thou shalt love the LORD thy God, and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his judgments, and his commandments, alway.
(Old Testament | Deuteronomy 11:27 - 28)
27 A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day:
28 And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.
I could go on and on and on because the commandments are the MAIN topic of the Bible. I don't know how anyone could possibly miss the point, but apparently many do.
Really? Most Christians recognize what the bible is all about---it's about love. The supreme love God has for us, the love we are to have for others and for Him.
