I'm a christian convert, who's not currently in communion with any church. I'm planning on joining one of the many different orthodox churches where I live, but I want to fully read the bible first.

Welcome! There's subforums for Orthodox Christians here; those would be great for asking questions about your area of interest in Christianity. They seem friendly, and some of them have cool profile pictures! You can also ask questions on the Catholic subforum; both Orthodox & Catholic Christians are very adamant about Church history, and I think you'll find the different viewpoints interesting.
