I’m done dude this is pointless and we’re getting no where and I really have no response for your statement that my bible translation is wrong. At that point there’s really nothing I can say if you’re ignoring scripture and thinking that no one can do anything wrong once they say they accept Jesus to prevent them from making it to Heaven.

Jesus calls us to strive to live Holy lives and there is no place for sin in Heaven, yet you think Jesus will allow people who claim to have accepted Jesus and yet continue in sin without need for repentance or asking for forgiveness to enter Heaven no matter what is flat out wrong. That’s all.

You must have me confused with someone else I’ve already told you that I do not believe in OSAS or eternal security. I believe in conditional salvation. I believe we must strive to obey God’s commandments and bear fruit and abide and endure to the end to be saved. Hence the tag under my name “He’s a way of life”

Fair enough, I guess the disagreement about whether or not people’s name can be removed from the book of life is trivial when it comes to salvation. I agree with everything you stated above.

Yes I didn’t state as a fact that names cannot be removed from the book of life I said it’s what I believe. To me it wouldn’t make sense that God chose us and wrote the names in the book before creation according to His foreknowledge then later remove the names of those who fall away. God would have foreseen their falling away from the beginning. I believe He only wrote the names of those who would abide and endure to the end. I believe there are two ways we can look at eternal security. In one aspect the names were written in the book of life before creation and their names will not be removed. So in this sense salvation is secure. But another aspect is that God’s foreknowledge is based on the choices we make of our own free will. So we determine what God has already foreseen by the choices we make. A person could be on the path to salvation then veer away from the path and fail to repent and would not have been written in the book of life. In this aspect that person would’ve had salvation but lost it by turning away from God and not repenting. Hence he had salvation but lost it. What are your thoughts?

This is tough, especially having read the scriptures on it. Your view makes a lot of sense, my reasoning for my view though is because I’ve seen and read accounts of people who have experienced Jesus showing them Heaven and in those accounts when people turned away from God their names were erased until they repented and turned back. What I’m talking about is literal turning away and then having to turn back not the act of sinning and then asking for forgiveness I think personally that there is much Grace given in terms of time to repent, but if someone chose to deliberately not ask for forgiveness and turn away from the faith or even be a lukewarm Christian they risk being removed from the book of life or “spit out” as it says He will do in Revelation to those who choose to remain luke warm.

Good works are not bad and they give glory to God (Matthew 5:16). Believers are created in Christ for/unto good works (Ephesians 2:10). We are to dedicate ourselves to good works which are good and profitable to men (Titus 3:8).

It’s trusting in works for salvation and not in Christ alone that’s bad (Romans 4:5-6; Ephesians 2:8,9; Titus 3:5; 2 Timothy 1:9).
Do you know people who trust in works for salvation? I have yet to meet a Christian who does. What I do meet is those who trust in their theology that they are saved and going to Heaven no matter how they behave and even loving God is an optional extra.

You will not meet a genuine Christian who trusts in works for salvation, but I have met numerous "nominal" Christians who are trusting in works for salvation and not in Christ alone. I've met such people in person and on various Christian forums. I grew up in the Roman Catholic church, had temporarily attended the church of Christ and my wife grew up in the RLDS church (similar to LDS - Mormons). All three of these churches teach that man is saved by faith and works. I'm yet to meet any genuine Christians who say that loving God is an optional extra, doesn't really matter if you do or don't/some do, some don't etc.. which is contrary to (1 John 4:7-8) or just live like the devil and you will still be saved regardless, which is contrary to (1 John 3:7-10).

(Romans 5:5 and 1 John 4:7-8) settles the issue for me.
Do you know the difference between loving God and loving man? Do you think God is so egoistic as to pour love in the hearts of his children for Himself??!!!

Do you think you must love God to belong to Him?

1 John 4:19-21 - We love because he first loved us. If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother. Believers love God because they belong to him and not in order to belong to Him. Love is not forced or legalistic for genuine believers.

Because means it’s a rational response. He doesn’t make us love Him. If he did, no “because” would be necessary.

All true but doesn’t address the question.
Believers love God because they belong to him and not in order to belong to Him.
Jesus said those who love Him obey him. He didn’t say those who belong to him love him. If a man thinks God makes believers love Him and assume that will happen, they will never know what it is to love God as God defined it.
Love is not forced or legalistic for genuine believers.
God gave it as a commandment. Commandments are legal requirements. He never said it just springs without any effort or choice at all.

It's not about God making or forcing us to love Him. Christian love is from God (Romans 5:5) and was demonstrated supremely in the cross. (John 3:16; Romans 5:8) God's love takes the initiative and the love of Christians is in response to that love. (1 John 4:19)

All true but doesn’t address the question.
It did for me.

Jesus said those who love Him obey him. He didn’t say those who belong to him love him.
Yes, those who love Jesus obey Him. He didn't say those who belong to Him don't love Him. In 1 Corinthians 6:22, we read - If anyone does not love the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be accursed. O Lord, come! Do you believe that - "does not love the Lord Jesus Christ...is accursed" = belongs to Him? o_O

1 John 4:7 - Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

I never said that God makes/forces believers to love Him or that this love springs up without any effort or choice at all. Believers have the received the love of God in their hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to them (Romans 5:5) and believers are new creations in Christ. Old things have passed away and all things have become new! (2 Corinthians 5:17) Praise the Lord! :)

Doesn't mean we do not have to choose to love others. Jesus told us to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. Why didn't he just say that love is from God and the above so no worries?
It did for me.
If you just pull out Bible text and never apply them to real life, it doesn't. Jesus commanded us to love one another. A command. He did not say it is an outcome so no need to try or curb our desires for the sake of others.
Yes, those who love Jesus obey Him. He didn't say those who belong to Him don't love Him.
The second makes no sense. Why would Jesus say those who belong to Him do not love him??
In 1 Corinthians 6:22, we read - If anyone does not love the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be accursed. O Lord, come! Do you believe that - "does not love the Lord Jesus Christ...is accursed" = belongs to Him? o_O
Again, I have no idea why you are writing the above. Those who love Jesus do not sing songs about how much they love Jesus but they obey Him. It is that simple. The degree we love Jesus is measured by Jesus in how often we obey Him. It is that simple. It is not how much feeling we have inside while certain music is playing.
1 John 4:7 - Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
"Let us stir one another up to do good deeds." It does not happen automatically. But the above is really worse news for some. If we do not obey God, we do not know God and worse, we are not born of God. All depends upon obeying the Lord Jesus in one's life. That is the degree of love.

So do you believe the love of God springs up without any effort or choice or not? YOu keep quoting me verses like it is there without effort. Do you have to ever choose to love people against our own desires or it that something that has passed away and you have become new and everyone around you says you are never selfish and always love others as you love yourself or more?

Danthemailman,
It isn't that I do not think that the Holy Spirit works to change a man. It is just that it is clear in scripture and the lives of real people that we play a major role in this changing. Some changes happen unbidden, that is we do not enjoy things we once did. Or we enjoy things we once found boring.

But many things are not changed by Him unbidden and, in fact, require us to struggle against sin. This is clearly in the Bible as well but it is not as popular as God doing it all and is therefore responsible for our choices to sin.

The truth is that He does his part and we have our part. This explains why some Christians are farther along the road on being like Jesus than others. Some Christians are simply closer to God or hear his voice more clearly than others. The simple answer is those are the ones who choose to obey God whether they feel like it or not at the moment. They are not doing it because it is in their best interest and is usually NOT in their best interest. If it were, it would be no struggle. This view also explains why some Christians sin in ways others wouldn't think of. The ground might be level at the cross but from that point on, it no longer is. And progress is made by prayer and obeying and struggling and trusting, all of these being important.

Just wanted you to understand my whole position and not merely the pieces you get in answering your points.

Of course there is a struggle against sin. Galatians 5:17 - For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please. The struggle is real! No argument there. God certainly has done His part, which is a big part and apart from it, we would not have been born again and became new creations in Christ and would have remained dead in trespasses.

For those who are saved, the ground is level at the cross, yet it's not level in the progress of ongoing sanctification, in which we certainly have our part. Some believers have reached maturity in Christ and others are still babes in Christ and need to grow and yet still others are somewhere in between. I'm not saying that it takes no effort to love and at times Christians may act selfishly or get upset with others and not always express love towards them the way they should, yet the prevailing characteristic of those who are born of God is that they love (and not hate) their brother. (1 John 2:9-11; 1 John 3:10)

"Let us stir one another up to do good deeds." It does not happen automatically. But the above is really worse news for some. If we do not obey God, we do not know God and worse, we are not born of God. All depends upon obeying the Lord Jesus in one's life. That is the degree of love.
It does not happen automatically, yet all genuine Christians are fruitful, but not all are equally fruitful. Those who produce no good deeds at all are not truly converted. It's the same for those who do not obey God at all. Not truly converted. There are varying degrees of obedience and love and none of us are sinless, without fault or defect, flawless, perfectly obedient 100% of the time.

The second makes no sense. Why would Jesus say those who belong to Him do not love him??
That was in response to your statement, "He didn’t say those who belong to him love him."

I just was curious about those posts online about people who have died that were Christian and experienced going to Hell. Do people really think that it’s all made up and you shouldn’t listen to those testimonies? Do people really think it’s impossible to lose your salvation? Cause there are many testimonies of people who have seen the names of some believers removed from the book of life due to backsliding and unrepentant sin.

Tell me what you think about all this, is it something that you just ignore and hope they’re wrong? Please explain what you do to convince yourself of the Once Saved Always Saved doctrine.

I believe that both these phrases / beliefs do not line up with Scripture, "once saved always saved" and "loss of salvation". Subscribing to one or the either has the potential to cause confusion in one's soteriology.

Scripture does not speak of losing salvation, so neither should we. Though there is a reason for this. When we repent and believe in Christ, we receive the Holy Spirit and are born again. This is "spiritual" salvation, and it is true in the immediate context that we are being saved - from sin and the corruption that is in the world.

But Paul numerous times speaks about how the elect of God receive the Holy Spirit as a "pledge of our inheritance". He also tells us in Romans that "today we are nearer to our salvation than when we first believed". Also, in Hebrews, we read about angels and how they are ministering spirits to those who "will inherit salvation". James tells us that once we meet Jesus and are approved, "He will give the crown of life (eternal life) promised to those who love Him". Likewise Jesus tells us that he who perseveres to the "end" will be saved. These are some examples.

Again, it is true that we are spiritually saved when we repent and trust Christ, but our present spiritual salvation is not our eternal salvation, it is simply the foretaste and promise of it. The doctrines of election and eternal salvation unfold from the perspective of eternity. It is not that you lose your salvation, it is that you forfeit your inheritance in Christ, which IS your eternal salvation.

In short, you cannot lose that which you haven't yet received, which is why Scripture does not speak of "losing" salvation, but of "falling away". Though I believe that these that fall away are not of the elect.

The elect of God are foreknown by Him and will be carried to glory, the vehicle God uses to accomplish this is our active obedience which comes from a living and saving faith. You cannot separate election / eternal security from the active obedience of the saint. Active obedience is the evidence of true saving faith and is the substance of our knowing that God has truly called and chosen us, our assurance.

Also, please be wary of these stories of people visiting the afterlife.

"Losing Salvation" doesn't make logical sense. It cannot be logically said of a person that he has been saved from a future event, the heaven/hell judgement, if at some point he can become unsaved from that event. If salvation can be lost one can only say of a person that he has the possibility of being saved from that event, but not the he has been saved.

Problem is that rhetoric doesn't match the rhetoric the scriptures use.

Eph 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith (notice the tense)

John 5:24 "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life."

Now if people find this unbelievable, then by definition they are not believers.

Please explain what you do to convince yourself of the Once Saved Always Saved doctrine.
It's simple. And no one has to "convince themself" of anything.

Let the Bible do the convincing.

Jesus taught that whoever believes possesses (has) eternal life.

John 5:24 - “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.

John 6:47 - Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life.

1 John 5:11 - And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

1 John 5:13 - I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

Jesus also taught that those He gives eternal life (which are believers) shall never perish.

John 10:28 - I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.

Straight forward and very clear. Those who believe have been given eternal life and shall never perish.
