Answered prayer is an evidence for God. He answers prAyer everyday. Just five minutes ago I tried to turn on out TV, it would not turn on. I plugged a fan into the power strip and it had power. So at this point I prayed with my son. We asked a simple prayer to heaL our TV. and it turned on, we are watching it right now, perfectly fine. It is important to note that God does not hear the prayers of the wicked. Many bible verses show this, I can post them if you want. But in order to have prayer answered you cant be hiding sin in your heart. Which is impossible for an unregenerate. I hAve fixed cars with prayer, paid mortgage from prayer, and been healed from skin cancer from prayer. Prayer is a physical tangeable way to see God in the physical world.

How can you confirm that god fixed your TV over (for example) a wonky electrical connection didn't work the first time, but worked the second time?

You don't get to just assert god did it when there are a plethora of other possible explanations.

I tested a fan in the same power strip and it worked, and there was a small light on the side of the TV so I knew the TV had power. I tried to turn it on 3 times manually, and at least twice with remote. My son realized it as a miracle instantly, because he has the wisdom of God. You, I don't expect to believe it, and that is ok. On judgement day, these words will be used to testify against you. So I don't look at these words as waisted. By the way I just read this section that goes along with what I said about God only answering the cries of those who's hearth are open and obedient to Him: God promises to bless homes, families, work and other activities.as people.follow Him with all their heart. As Joyce Meyer writes, ‘Obedience is not to be an occasional event; it is to be a way of life. There is a big difference between people who are willing to obey God daily and those who are willing to obey only in order to get out of trouble. God certainly shows people how to get out of trouble, but He showers blessings on those who decide to live wholeheartedly for Him and make obedience to Him their lifestyle.’

So, your TV didn't turn on initially when you tried it, but then it turned on later.

Most people would think it's either an electrical issue, or problem with the TV itself. Heck, the TV I have in my bedroom on occasion decides not to turn on when I try. Sometimes it's because the internal software is in the middle of an automatic update.

But hey, it must be god if you can't personally understand any other reason for your TV not initially turning on when you tried.

All I know is it had power, and a light on the side but the remote would not work and the actual button did not turn on. However ,whatever was wrong with it emediately resolved itself in the same minute we stopped praying. What are the chances of that? A TV fixing itself right after you asking your diety to fix it? Who is to say God cant fix software issues and updates? That us a very limited view of God. Later my sons stomach was hurting, so we prayed for it. Same thing. Within 20 minutes he felt better. I suppose you have a natural explanation for that too? I wish you could live in my body and see God through my eyes. You definately would see things differently. When you are born again, you have eyes to see the spiritual. I don't expect you to believe, that is not the purpose. The point is that these words later will be used to testify against you in the judgement.

There. Is. Also. No. Evidence. For. God.
You're giving his claim too much credence. There's a decent amount of evidence to the idea of a multiverse and even string theory being at least plausible. It isn't "no evidence".

So again, God really is the only option here. He is the only thing on the universe that is not an effect, and thus needs no cause.
Non evidenced opinion and arguments from incredulity aren't going to sway any atheist here. Seriously, you're doing more harm than good. Take a poll. See if any non believer is any closer to converting.

Let me put it to you this way. I have an acquaintance that I've been discussing religion with. She was a fairly strong believer before we started talking. She's a very smart woman. Has two degrees. I've been showing her a lot of material coming from apologists, including threads like this one. She's becoming quite despondent about her chosen religion and the people in it. I'm basically asking her that, if this is the best that apologists can come up with, why should she believe.

I'll let you know how this turns out...

Fair point, but we don’t even have to go there. He’s trying to import God by eliminating everything else, and that’s the real fatal error he’s making. No matter how much he eliminates, a lack of evidence will never be evidence for God.

Since you are throwing prayer in the 'evidence for God argument', I have a couple of questions. Feel free to only address one or both, as to not overwhelm:

1. Why does God never elect to grant the regrowth of an amputated limb? Regrowing limbs in prayer would change many people's perception to claimed answered prayer, including myself, to then believe in a human interacting God of some nature. Medical science has yet to have the ability to regrow limbs. If a limb grew back, this might demonstrate a direct result from prayer, and not science or any other natural process. If and when medical science ever has the ability to regrow limbs, is this when prayer will start to take some of the credit?

2. You are diagnosed with a curable disease. You are presented with only two options for treatment, but cannot choose both. These options are medical treatment, or prayer. Which one do you choose and why?

I don't know of any who have been raised from the dead or that have had amputated limbs grow back. Those are larger style miracles and are rarer. You may have to google search that. I do know of a pastor who ministered to a little boy who shut his finger in a door, and they had to amputate the end of his finger. The doctor said, it would be permanently gone. The pastor prayed for healing and within a few weeks, and pink regrowth occurred of new flesh. The doctor said he had never seen this happen, and submitted it to a medical journal. He made the child come back every day for a week while it grew back, he said at that point that there would definitely be no finger nail. The doctor said:
"This is something fantastic! As far as I know, medical science has never seen anything like this. I have no explanation for it at all. But, of course, you know that it's impossible for a nail ever to form on that tip."
A couple of weeks later a fingernail started growing. Within two months David could hold out both hands, and you couldn't tell which finger tip had been amputated!
(as it was fully crushed before, and they amputated bone and finger).
David went back to the doctor once a week for a year. The doctor took pictures, documented the whole event and submitted it to the Journal of the American Medical Association. The doctor was a Jew, and David's mother testified to him about the power of Jesus Christ. He finally said, "I have to confess that this is a miracle of God."

as far as your second question is a false dichotomy. Never is an option for treatment offered that you cannot pray for. The first option you do not allow prayer, and no one can stop you from praying in your heart. So that is a false dichotomy. Prayer should never be chosen over normal treatment. It is recommended that everyone take prescribed medicines, and visit their doctors for annual checkups. That is what is called testing God. Which is a sin according to matthew 4:7. God can heal, but sometimes He does not. So it is important to make sure you are seeing a doctor.

Do you have the article?

as far as your second question is a false dichotomy. Never is an option for treatment offered that you cannot pray for. The first option you do not allow prayer, and no one can stop you from praying in your heart. So that is a false dichotomy.

I think you are missing my point. Your next answer is telling.

Prayer should never be chosen over normal treatment. It is recommended that everyone take prescribed medicines, and visit their doctors for annual checkups.

In such a case, what is then the point of the prayer to heal the curable disease? If the medical treatment works on it's own accord, what be the point in prayer?

That is what is called testing God. Which is a sin according to matthew 4:7. God can heal, but sometimes He does not. So it is important to make sure you are seeing a doctor.

So are saying the medical establishment has the power to heal curable diseases, without the help of prayer? Because that is what I am saying. Because if you flip it around, and pray for a cure, without medical intervention, and the disease is deemed fatal without treatment, it seems likely most, if not all, will perish.

Many believers are not 'testing God.' Heck, just read Matthew 7:7, a few more verses down from the one you quoted to me. If a devout believer in Christ prays for a cure to their diagnosed disease, and chooses faith (instead) of medicine, what do you logically think would be the likely outcome? Well, I already know your answer, because you've already provided it. You will die.

So I again ask. Is prayer a sound method for determining the existence of God? And by the way, you are the one whom states you should not test God. And yet, you are the one whom brought up prayer. Wouldn't that be a method to 'test for God', to evaluate it's success rate?

Yes medical treatment can treat disease. A healthy diet with excersize can prevent most sickness. But most of us are not disciplined enough to both eat healthy and do cardiovascular excersize 15 minutes a day. This is where prayer comes in. The bible does not mention eating healthy. The bible mentions for health and wealth to simply obey God in all things and secondly to pray. Health addicts like to forbid the eating of meat, and only eat vegetables. But the bible says " in the last days they will forbid eating of meat", further more it says all things regarding meat can be eaten if taken in thanksgiving.

As far as prayer is concerned, it's about statistics. What are the odds of a finger growing back? I read that in a book written by the pastor. I guess it's not uncommon for fingers to grow back but not for fingers amputated past the finger nail. But this is not a typical thing by any means, chances are that it won't grow back, and chances for a nail to grow back are much less. Especially a finger cut off past the nail. So this was an unusual event, so chances are that this was supernatural, even the doctor, believed it was a miracle and documented it in a medical journal.

I have evidence for everything I believe. But because it's not proof you won't accept it. I hope you can see this one fact. I find it hypocritical for atheists to require proof when they themselves dont prove anything. An atheist that says there is no God. Can he prove that statement? They don't even try. Sorry if I think it's just hypocritical.

God answers prayer. The answers to our prayer will be one of three things. Yes, No, and not now. When God does not answer a prayer first I analyze and pray for God to reveal sin that may have hindered the prayer. Dont be surprised if He does reveal sin, every week I see new sins that I didnt realize the week before. Secondly if there is nothing, then I trust the Lord that He heard me and yet the answer is still no. That happens more than I would like to admit. But when walking with the Lord and living in obedience more prayers are answered yes than no. But if you start to get cocky, then God stops answering prayer, and breaks you, or subtly reminda you from which you came. I used to pray for millions of dollars. And God likes us to trust in Him. So the answer was no to those prayers. But what God did help me to do, is learn the stock market. If I had easy millions I would never have learned that. Nor would I live day to day in trust. A wealthy person typically thinks that they are rich because of their own hand, and they forget God. Those who have to pray to have daily things provided have a much richer walk with the Lord. Many many people will talk about how trials made them closer to God. I have a good job, but I have a single income family with 5 dependants. So we pray for alot. I am starting to get better with investments, which like I said I would never have learned if I had easy millions. Now I make a habit of helping other struggling investors, like a ministry. But the primary way to do good in investments is to fear the Lord. After I started seriously walking with God, probably 3 months ago, I have had nothing but success on the stock market. Before i was recommitted to Chtist, i had lost thoisands and thousands on the stock market. But now I dont have to study charts every day and stress. I have made 100% good trades in last month. There was an option spread i placed about 4 weeks ago that is up 52%. It was only 2 trades, but up considetably. Here is a passage that shows that God takes care of His people:
“Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the country. “Blessed shall be the fruit of your body, the produce of your ground and the increase of your herds, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flocks. “Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl. “Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out. “The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways. “The Lord will command the blessing on you in your storehouses and in all to which you set your hand, and He will bless you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you. “The Lord will establish you as a holy people to Himself, just as He has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the Lord your God and walk in His ways. Then all peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the Lord , and they shall be afraid of you. And the Lord will grant you plenty of goods, in the fruit of your body, in the increase of your livestock, and in the produce of your ground, in the land of which the Lord swore to your fathers to give you. The Lord will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them. So you shall not turn aside from any of the words which I command you this day, to the right or the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
Deuteronomy 28:3‭-‬14 NKJV

BUT IF YOU DON'T FOLLOW GOD, INSTEAD OF BLESSING YOU GET CURSES:

“But it shall come to pass, if you do not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments and His statutes which I command you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you: “Cursed shall you be in the city, and cursed shall you be in the country. “Cursed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl. “Cursed shall be the fruit of your body and the produce of your land, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flocks. “Cursed shall you be when you come in, and cursed shall you be when you go out. “The Lord will send on you cursing, confusion, and rebuke in all that you set your hand to do, until you are destroyed and until you perish quickly, because of the wickedness of your doings in which you have forsaken Me. The Lord will make the plague cling to you until He has consumed you from the land which you are going to possess. The Lord will strike you with consumption, with fever, with inflammation, with severe burning fever, with the sword, with scorching, and with mildew; they shall pursue you until you perish. And your heavens which are over your head shall be bronze, and the earth which is under you shall be iron. The Lord will change the rain of your land to powder and dust; from the heaven it shall come down on you until you are destroyed. “The Lord will cause you to be defeated before your enemies; you shall go out one way against them and flee seven ways before them; and you shall become troublesome to all the kingdoms of the earth. Your carcasses shall be food for all the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and no one shall frighten them away. The Lord will strike you with the boils of Egypt, with tumors, with the scab, and with the itch, from which you cannot be healed. The Lord will strike you with madness and blindness and confusion of heart. And you shall grope at noonday, as a blind man gropes in darkness; you shall not prosper in your ways; you shall be only oppressed and plundered continually, and no one shall save you. “You shall betroth a wife, but another man shall lie with her; you shall build a house, but you shall not dwell in it; you shall plant a vineyard, but shall not gather its grapes. Your ox shall be slaughtered before your eyes, but you shall not eat of it; your donkey shall be violently taken away from before you, and shall not be restored to you; your sheep shall be given to your enemies, and you shall have no one to rescue them. Your sons and your daughters shall be given to another people, and your eyes shall look and fail with longing for them all day long; and there shall be no strength in your hand. A nation whom you have not known shall eat the fruit of your land and the produce of your labor, and you shall be only oppressed and crushed continually. The Lord will strike you in the knees and on the legs with severe boils which cannot be healed, and from the sole of your foot to the top of your head. “The Lord will bring you and the king whom you set over you to a nation which neither you nor your fathers have known, and there you shall serve other gods—wood and stone. And you shall become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword among all nations where the Lord will drive you. “You shall carry much seed out to the field but gather little in, for the locust shall consume it. You shall plant vineyards and tend them, but you shall neither drink of the wine nor gather the grapes; for the worms shall eat them. You shall have olive trees throughout all your territory, but you shall not anoint yourself with the oil; for your olives shall drop off. You shall beget sons and daughters, but they shall not be yours; for they shall go into captivity. Locusts shall consume all your trees and the produce of your land. “The alien who is among you shall rise higher and higher above you, and you shall come down lower and lower. He shall lend to you, but you shall not lend to him; he shall be the head, and you shall be the tail. “Moreover all these curses shall come upon you and pursue and overtake you, until you are destroyed, because you did not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which He commanded you. And they shall be upon you for a sign and a wonder, and on your descendants forever.
Deuteronomy 28:15‭-‬33‭, ‬35‭-‬46 NKJV

So anyway, I hope this answers questions about prayer and why God has said no. Here is a good podcast for more info:

The first step in living a blessed life is being christian. It's the hardest thing you can do but it's the most rewarding. Many think they don't need christianity that they are not bad people and that they can get to heaven because they are basically moral people, here take this test . If that is you:

Just another evidence of God's blessing. My neighbor mowed a side yard of mine, two weeks in a row. So I though to myself, I can't let him out bless me, so I have been mowing his yard two days earlier than his work day. Last week I also mowed his ally area as well as mine. So today he weed wacked my entire ally area, and even under our bushes in the front yard. Our yards have not looked this nice in years. Next week I will do his whole yard for him, I don't want to be out blessed by anyone. So you can see how loving your neighbor as the ten commandments require, yields great results.

No, again, no one is demanding you give proof for God. Some people try to provide that with ontological arguments, but those fail. We just apportion our beliefs to the evidence, and because there is no evidence for God, we do not believe in him. But that’s not a failure on your part. People have made fairly convincing cases here that due to the incomprehensible nature of God, there’s nothing we could ever observe that could rightly be considered evidence for God’s existence. So for those set on believing things based on evidence, you’re never going to convince them God exists. You’re better off attacking evidentialism rather than atheism itself.
