I see that there are robots about. What are they doing...monitoring posts?

Bots are drawn to pings that occur with each post. So forums make lots of pings and draw bots like flies to index the posts and classify the content found. You can search 4 of 5 words of any post in quotes and ChristianForums will be a top search result. The bots index these posts pretty fast and have them in the various search engines quickly.

I have "I Robot" with Will Smith" recorded and can just watch that movie over and over.

Pings were a big deal when first discovered by the public. A number of entrepreneurs offered to ping your website to get it into Google quicker. In hours instead of weeks. Any change to a webpage creates a "Ping" that alerts the search engines that new information has been posted. When the "Robot gets here" it follows all the links on a page as well and indexes those pages into it's memory. I don't know how "deep" a search engine goes. A good question for the internet.

Of course. They had to have something to go with "Pong."
