Navigating the teachings of the Church can be a daunting task. It's made even worse these day with the rise of social media and along with it the rise of the armchair church authority. Let's face it we all know what we THINK the Church teaches. We a know what we may have read through the filter of the writers on the internet...

The article is basically about post-Vatican II confusion.

And it says Jimmy Akin can help people sort through that confusion.
Can you cite from the article where his book is about helping people sort through post-Vatican II confusion?
If this is so, then that's great news! You should pick it up!

We live in the post-Vatican II period, and the article is about the doctrinal confusion of today's world.

Please, can you copy and paste a quote or two from the link? The reason I ask is because I read the link too and I disagree with your assertions.

What exactly are you disagreeing with?
That the book is about doctrinal confusion caused by Vatican II.
The article makes no such claim imo. It doesn't mention Vatican II and the confusion it wishes to address is on our part.
The book's outline according to the article is this:

Jimmy has divided the book into four main sections:

1 – The Church as Teacher

2 – Where Church Teaching is Found

3 – Understanding Church Teaching

4 – How Doctrine can Develop – And How it Can’t

There wasn't widespread doctrinal confusion in the Church until after Vatican II. I said the article is about that confusion which came after Vatican II. But I didn't claim that the book says that Vatican II caused it nor did I claim that the article specifically mentions Vatican II.

Okay. :) I get that you struggle with Vatican II. There are councils I struggle with too and am working through. But the article is not about your particular worldview or mine. The article is about Jimmy Akin's worldview. Now hopefully Mr. Akin's worldview is such, that it can inform and/or correct our worldview(s) (if you choose to buy his book).

Jimmy Akin acknowledges the confusion that came after Vatican II, but he doesn't blame it on the council. Instead, he believes that it was because of people misinterpreting Vatican II.

But that's not your position. Or have I misunderstood your position?
This is your original statement:
"If you want 100% pure Catholic doctrine you have to look at what the Church taught before Vatican II."
You seem you be laying fault directly at the feet of Vatican II.

"There have always been controversies about Church teaching, and there are many today. Just look at the ongoing controversies about Vatican II and what it taught, or at the recent controversies regarding divorce and Holy Communion, homosexuality, and the death penalty. This book will help you sort through what the Church actually teaches—and what it does not."

Jimmy Akin on his new book on "how to cut through doctrinal confusion"
