RobNJ was a CF forum administrator back in 1972. Yes had just released Close to the Edge.
Year is off, by a few decades.... Was the year I drove myself to the ER in early November, and didn't see home again, until April. LOL.. After I got back home, it only took 2 DL's to figure out how cross my arms for communion, pinning my cane against my chest, and not dropping the thing. Although, a steel cane DOES make some impressive noise, hitting the floor, when you knock it over, during a prayer.
yep.
What happened to you that kept you in the hospital that long!?! Wow!!
Well three & a half months in the hospital,,, rest in the rehab, with the Physical Terrorists getting to do the whole walking thing, after being on my back, and losing some of my leg muscle.
I have a condition where the lymph fluid doesn't flow north, like it should, and swells my legs (Lymphedema).. The swelling make it easy to break the skin.. Leg wounds can let germs in. Was admitted for Cellulitis, Sepsis, Necrotizing Fasciitis, some infection caused kidney failure. Let me tell you.. there's nothing like going to the OR, and waking up in ICU sitting upright with a tube down your throat, and the ward clerk yelling in your face "NOD IF YOU HAVE A WIFE AND CHILDREN TO CALL IN!!"

I must’ve been gone during that whole development! Ugh....I miss him. Great guy.
Is he banned permanently?no, he was gone long before Lent. he was in a pretty intense conversation, and then he ruffled a few feathers, and that was that.

gonna stop because I don't wanna cross any lines discussing a staff action.
And that is the elephant in the room, the rule that eliminates any semblance of even the individual rights that protestants claim for themselves (Note; not discussing any staff actions here; only the idea of having such a rule. If one is not allowed to discuss even the theoretical plusses and minuses of that, then none of us should be here. I'd be willing to discuss the theory on a different thread, but because of the rules, it would be impossible to give real practical examples; only hypothetical ones.)gonna stop because I don't wanna cross any lines discussing a staff action.
Sure, I understand. I was curious because he doesn't have the "jaundice", lol. His screen name is blue.gonna stop because I don't wanna cross any lines discussing a staff action.

But in all fairness Rus, most of the CFstaff does actually welcome a sincere heart to heart discussion regarding their moderation of this place as long as it's made in private.
Its highly understandably that they prohibit open discussion about this as such often leads to campaigning and a numerous of violations.
They could turn a deaf ear even in PM, but a vast majority of staff actually listen in private conversations. It isnt to say that they'll let you have your way, but it tells me something about their genuine appreciation of the CF members and that's something.
A gentle correction I'm thankful to be able to make ... having "Eastern Orthodox" as one's member designation does NOT give one the right to teach against Orthodox doctrine. The fact remains that the existing system allows tiny minorities to openly assert and flaunt ideas that undermine our Faith that the majority may not reprove or rebuke, because they identify as Orthodox. All such reproof is called “flaming”, even if you are not insulting the person at all, only challenging his or her ideas. That’s how the rules work here.
An Orthodox member could, for instance, post a historic Islamic flag as their avatar because they think it good and important to welcome Muslims in America. The fact that that flag was flown by enemies of Orthodox people and devshirme and other wicked practices conducted under it would be glossed over, and if you complained about the flag, the other member could see and present it as personal “flaming”. And this sort of thing does in fact happen around here. And if non-Orthodox members are indifferent to the particulars of either our history or our Faith where they happen to disagree with it, then they will and often do tend to sympathize with such claims. Confusing the challenge of one’s ideas with personal insult is a common modern error of thought, and it is used to say we are insulting people personally when in fact we are ”insulting” the ideas, and not the people.
That is a reality of our presence on this site: an insistence on non-partisanship where we ought to or must be partisan.
I think most of the rules make perfect sense and don’t cause such problems for us. I’m just saying that certain members do use a few of them to defy what the rest of us would strongly insist on.

But in truth, is there any other way to moderate this board? Even Orthodox only boards are highly biased in their moderation of content.
If you post a thread with official comments and statements from say Patriarch Bartholomew the MPlobby will lay hands on you and give you warnings etc and the other way around.
