This is my translation of 7 seals in Revelation and I will be doing a verse by verse study on this as it appears to be a popular topic concerning the end times. And I will try to harmonize it with the rest of Revelation, and using the NT and OT when I can.

Prologue

Revelation 5

1 And I saw a Scroll on the right *hand of Him Who is sitting upon the Throne, having been written in *inside and back and having been sealed to seven Seals
2 And I saw a strong Messenger heralding in a great voice "who is worthy to open up the Scroll and to loose the Seals of it?",
3 and no one was able in the heaven, neither upon the land, nor under the land, to open up the Scroll nor to behold It.
4 And I wept much, than no one yet was found worthy to open up [*and to read] the Scroll, nor to be beholding It.
5 And one of the Elders is saying to me "no be weeping! behold! the Lion conquers, the One out of the Tribe of Judah, the Root of David, to open up the Scroll and to loose It's seven Seals.
6 And I looked and behold! in midst of the Throne and of the four Living Ones and in midst of the Elders, a Lambkin having stood, as having been slaughtered.
Having seven Horns and seven Eyes, which are being the seven Spirits of the GOD, having been commissioned into the entire land.
7 And It came and took the S out of the right *hand of the One sitting on the Throne,
8 And when It took the Scroll, the four Living Ones and the twenty four Elders fall before the Lambkin, each having harps and golden Bowls/Vials brimming/replete of incenses, which are being the prayers of the Saints.
9 and they are singing a new Song saying "Worthy art Thou to be taking the Scroll and to open up the Seals of It, that Thou wast slaughtered and did purchase/redeem us to the GOD in Thy blood, out of every Tribe and Tongue and People and Nation.
10 and Thou make them to the GOD of us *Kings[Kingdom of] and Priests/Priesthood and they shall be reigning upon the land."
11 And I looked and I hear as a sound of many Messengers round the Throne, and of the Living Ones and of the Elders.
And was the number of them myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands,12 saying to a great voice "Worthy is being the Lambkin, the One having been slaughtered, to be receiving the power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing".
13 And every creature the in the heaven and upon the land and under the land, and upon the sea and all the in them, and I hear saying to Him sitting upon the Throne and to the Lambkin "the blessing and the honor and the glory and the might into the ages of the ages". 14 And the four Living Ones said "Amen!" And the twenty-four Elders fall and worship *before Him who is living to the ages of the ages*.
=====================================
Revelation 6 and the 7 Seals

The First Seal: Rider on a White Horse

1 And I saw when the Lambkin opens up one out of the seven Seals and I hear one out of the four Living Ones saying as sound of thunder "be coming!
2 And I looked and behold! a white Horse, and the One sitting on it is having a bow and there was given to Him a crown,
and He came forth conquering and that He should be conquering.

The Second Seal: War

3 And when It opens up the second Seal, I hear the second Living One saying " be coming"!
4 And came forth another Horse,fiery-red and to Him sitting on it was giving to be taking the Peace out of the land, and that one another they should be slaying.
And there was given to Him a great Sword.

The Third Seal: Famine

5 And when It opens up the third Seal, I hear of the third Living One saying "be coming!
And I looked and behold! a black Horse and Him sitting on it having a Yoke/Balance in His hand.
6 And I hear a voice in midst of the four Living Ones saying, "A measure of wheat for a denary and three measures of barley for a denary, and the oil and the wine no thou should be injuring".

The Fourth Seal: Death

7 And when It opens up the fourth Seal, I hear a voice of the fourth Living One saying "be coming!’"
8 And I looked and behold! a pale Horse and Him sitting on it, a name to him the Death and the Hades followed Him.
And was given to them authority over the fourth of the land, to kill in sword, and in famine and in death and by the beasts of the land.

The Fifth Seal: Martyrs under the Altar

9 And when It opens up the fifth Seal, I saw under the Altar the souls of Those slaughtered because of the word of the GOD, and because of the Testimony which they held.
10 And They cry a great voice saying "till when O Master/Owner, the Holy and the True, not Thou are judging and and avenging Our blood out of those dwelling upon the land?"
11 And was given to each of Them a White Robe and was declared to Them that they should be resting still little time, till should be fulfilling also their fellow bondservants and their brethren, those being about to being killed as also they.

The Sixth Seal: Sun, Moon and Stars

12 And I saw when It opens up the sixth Seal and became a great earthquake and the Sun became black as hairy sackcloth, and the whole Moon became as blood, 13 and the Stars of the heaven fall to the land, as a fig-tree casting it's shriveled figs by a great wind being shaken.
14 And the heaven coils as a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island out of their places were moved. 15 And the Kings of the land, and the greatest, and the rich, and the Chiefs of thousands, and the strong and every slave and every free one, hide themselves into the caves and into the rocks of the mountains.
16 And they are saying to the mountains and to the rocks "be falling upon us! and hide us! from Face of Him sitting on the throne and from the wrath of the Lambkin.
17 That came the Day, the great, of Their wrath and who is able to stand?

The Seventh Seal: Silence in heaven half hour

Revelation 8
1 And when It opens up the seventh Seal, became a hush in the heaven as half hour. 2 And I saw the seven Messengers who before the GOD have stood and were given to them seven Trumpets.
3 and another Messenger came and stood at the Altar, having a golden Censer. And was given to Him many incenses, that He shall be imparting to the prayers of all the Saints on the golden Altar before the Throne. 4 And ascended the smoke of the incenses to the prayers of the Saints out of hand of the Messenger before the GOD. 5 And the Messenger has taken the Censer and cram fills it out of the fire of the Altar and casts it into the land. And became sounds and thunders and lightnings and an earthquake.

The swift of foot shall not escape, Nor shall he who rides a horse deliver himself.

"2 And I looked and behold! a white Horse, and the One sitting on it is having a bow<5115> and there was given to Him a crown<4735>,
and He came forth conquering and that He should be conquering."

This reminds me of Genghis Khan, since the signature of the Mongolian Hordes was a unit on horseback that could attack with bow and also the sword. A crown was given to him, the crown of china. And he definitely came forth conquering with an attitude to conquer other nations.

Another military unit was the middle eastern Horse Archer during that period, and they are known for white horses.

After middle ages, the vernacular of war in the bible becomes metaphorical versions of the previous eras or described by the "iron beast"

The First Seal, The Cross-Bow (powerpoint) - TinyUpload.com - best file hosting solution, with no limits, totaly free

Lion (Jesus) - “valiant” 2 Samuel 17:10; “bold” Proverbs 28:1; “strongest” Proverbs 30:30; Hosea 5:14-15, 13:4-7; “roar – voice of God” Amos 3:7-8; Revelation 10:3 (Divinity; Kingly); “Judah – Lion” Genesis 49:9; “Israel” Genesis 32:28; Numbers 24:8-9; Matthew 2:13-15; Hosea 11:1; Hebrews 2:13; Isaiah 8:16,18; Luke 11:22; John 16:33; Romans 12:21; Hebrews 3:6 (Jeremiah 31:31,33; Hebrews 8:8,10); Revelation 3:21.

Root of David (Jesus) – Revelation 5:5, 22:16; Isaiah 11:1,10; Jeremiah 23:5-6; Romans 1:3, 15:12 (Humanity, Kingly).

Lamb (Jesus) – Revelation 5:6; Genesis 3:15,21; Revelation 13:8, 21:14; John 1:29,36 (Sacrificial, Love) - “worthy” (worship) Revelation 5:12.

Seven Seals - “Who wrote the book/scroll, sealed?”, “Who sealed it?”, “Where is it first seen?”, “Which hand?”, “Why is that important?” (Psalms 16:11), “What is the significance of the Seven Seals?” (More seals, more protection, of more value, etc), “What is in it?”, “Who is the only one able to open and look (read) it?” - Please take note that no man (person) on earth (alive), under the earth (dead and in the grave), or in heaven (alive, Enoch, Elijah, Moses), nor any angel, group of angels, or created being in heaven (4 Beasts/Living Creatures, not all the council of the 24 Elders (leaders of unfallen worlds)), or all creation together in Heaven and in earth could open that book/scroll, but only One equal with the Father, who could enter into all the counsels of God the Father could, for what created being can by searching find out the wisdom of God? What being could ever take by force, cunning, learning, etc from the hand of God except it be given to them? - John 10:29; Romans 11:34; 1 Corinthians 2:16; Job 9:10,12; Ecclesiastes 8:4; Daniel 4:35; Matthew 21:23-27; Mark 11:27-33; Luke 20:1-8; John 2:18. Please notice John's intense interest at what was in the sealed book/scroll, as well as all of Heaven? Why then does mortal mankind, not also have such interest in that which is in the right hand of God? Why are we so focused upon the things of this earth?

Read “Letter65 (1898)” in the SoP/ToJ for information in regards what is in the sealed book/scroll, in that there were “no spaces” left in it, and every place filled up to the full, nothing to be added, nor taken away, it was the complete and whole counsel and wisdom of God, prophecy, history, etc.

“hath prevailed” - Revelation 5:5; “my vows” - Psalms 116:14,18; “God Heard” - Psalms 61:5; Luke 11:22; John 16:33; Romans 12:21; Revelation 3:21.

“Come and see” - Psalms 66:5 (Psalms 66:1-20); John 1:35-39,45-46 (When Jesus said, “Come and see”, it was in regards to the question, “Where dwellest thou?”, and thus Jesus responded by saying, Come and see how/where I live, where/how I dwell/live, my life, the way, truth and life); Psalms 46:8 (“wonderful/terrible works of the Lord”) - Psalms 111:2, 126:1-3; Numbers 23:23; Psalms 66:3, 99:3; Ezekiel 1:8 (4 Creatures).

“crown” (victory) – John 16:33; Revelation 3:21 – Gethsemane & Calvary – Psalms 98:1-3 (Psalms 98:1-9); Colossians 2:6-15 (Paul is citing from Psalms 98:1-3); Revelation 12:7-12; Romans 5:5-11; Psalms 24:1-10; Romans 1:8, 16:19; Colossians 1:23 (conquering); see also Psalms 68:18-25; Ephesians 4:8; Isaiah 26:19.

Side note – Read Psalms 21,22,23,24 for the Life, Crucifixion, Death, Burial, Resurrection and Ascension of Jesus Christ.

Four Beasts (Living Creatures) – (each of the four Beasts are associated with one of the first four Seals) (1st Lion face) (2nd Calf face) (3rd Man face) (4th Eagle face); Revelation 4:7, see also Ezekiel 1:10, 10:14 in connection with Zechariah 6:1-5, 4:6 (the Holy Ghost working through angels/men), see also the notes on the 4 Beasts in Revelation 4 & 5; Ezekiel, etc.

Connect the first four Seals to the first four Churches and to the first four Trumpets. They are 3 parallel branches on the Candlestick structure of Revelation (Psalms 77:13), and connect the Seals to the 144,000 and to Satan in Revelation 20, and contrast them to those who are 'marked' by the Devil.

Four Riders (Horsemen) & Four Horses – Zechariah 1:7-17, 4:6, 6:1-8. The Riders are in control of the Horses, like as unto a Head to a Body, a Husband to a Wife, as Christ to the Church, as Father to Son, as King to Kingdom. The Riders are “Horsemen” - 2 Kings 2:12, 13:14; see also Habakkuk 3:8-15; Psalms 45:3-5 (God), the Horse is the Vehicle for the Messenger with the Message.

Please take note that after the White Horse, and rejection begins to take place, along with doubt, etc, we see the Rider of the Red horse with “Sword” (War), the Rider of the Black horse with Balances of “Famine” (shortage of Wheat & Barley), and we see the Rider of the Pale horse with “Pestilence”, just as we see in Jeremiah 14:10-18, 24:10, 29:17-18, see also Exodus 5:3, 9:15; Leviticus 26:25; Numbers 14:12; Deuteronomy 28:21; 2 Samuel 24:13-15; 1 Kings 8:37; 1 Chronicles 21:12-14; 2 Chronicles 6:28, 7:13, 20:9; Job 15:18-25; Psalms 78:50, 91:3,6; Isaiah 51:19; Jeremiah 5:12, 11:22-23, 14:10-18, 15:2, 16:4, 18:21, 21:7-9, 24:10, 27:8-13, 29:17-18, 32:24,36, 34:17, 38:2, 42:16-22, 44:12-27; Ezekiel 5:12,17, 6:11-12, 7:15, 12:16, 14:19-21, 38:22; Amos 4:10; Habakkuk 3:5; Romans 8:35. War brings on Famine, which brings on Pestilence, but God preserveth the righteous through them.

  • Barley – 2 Kings 7:1; Ruth 2:23; Job 31:40; Joel 1:11; see also 2 Chronicles 2:10,15) (the Barley was more common than the Wheat, easier to obtain, a more coarse grain, not as fine as What, and there were two differing harvests, 1 for Barley, and 1 for Wheat)

  • Oil – (Holy Ghost/Grace/Character) Matthew 25

  • Wine – (Doctrine/Life)

  • No Rain (Why there is a shortage of Wheat/Barely, harlot's Forehead, etc)

  • Penny – Matthew 20:2,10,13 (Why spend money for that which is not Bread; Isaiah 55:2)
Pale (G5515; Chloros) (Ashen, Without Life, Greenish (like gangrene (lack of blood)), Sickly unto Death; thus lacking the Holy Ghost (Spirit, for without the Spirit the body dies), and the Life of Christ), see also the so-called LXX Isaiah 15:6; 2 Kings 19:26. Thus War led to Famine, lead to Pestilence.

“name” - “Death” - Character – 1 Samuel 25:25; Proverbs 22:1; Ecclesiastes 7:1

“Death” - Romans 5:14; 1 Corinthians 15:25; Isaiah 28:15; Jeremiah 9:21, 18:21; James 5:20; Psalms 9:17; Revelation 1:18; Isaiah 25:8; Habakkuk 2:5; Hosea 13:14; 1 Kings 2:6; Exodus 10:17; Leviticus 26:25; Deuteronomy 28:21.

kill with “Death” = Pestilences – Leviticus 26:21-26; Ezekiel 14:21, see also so-called LXX uses.

The mental picture is of a Rider (Death) pulling a Death Wagon filled with bodies/persons that died (Follow after, see Daniel 11:43; Revelation 13:3, for comparisons)

kill with “Beasts” (Nations, State powers) - Jeremiah 15:2-3, 24:10, 29:17-18; Ezekiel 5:12,17, 14:21, see also those passages which speak of Nations/State powers as Beasts, Daniel 7 & 8, Revelation 12 & 13 & 17, etc.

Souls under the Altar:

Let us now consider this Prophetic and Symbolic/Signified - Rev. 1:1, Passage in its proper context, which is the 7 Seals, "And when he had opened the fifth seal ...", Rev. 6:9

Should we have to go over the first four "Seals" to understand they are given in Symbols, that we might understand earthly events?

The Fifth Seal is no different, for it refers to events on Earth. How do we know? The context. The texts reads that these "souls" were "under the Altar" - Rev. 6:9.

Question. According to the Scriptures, which Altar is this, the one in the Courtyard, or the Holy Place?

It is the one in the Courtyard. How do we know? Context. For the blood of the first group of Martyrs mentioned in it, was poured out at the base of that altar, just as it is given us:

And he shall put [some] of the blood upon the horns of the altar which [is] before the LORD, that [is] in the tabernacle of the congregation, and shall pour out all the blood at the bottom of the altar of the burnt offering, which [is at] the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. Leviticus 4:18

"And the priest shall ... shall pour out all the blood thereof at the bottom of the altar." Leviticus 4:30

And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering with his finger, and put [it] upon the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and shall pour out all the blood thereof at the bottom of the altar: Leviticus 4:34

And he shall sprinkle of the blood of the sin offering upon the side of the altar; and the rest of the blood shall be wrung out at the bottom of the altar: it [is] a sin offering. Leviticus 5:9

And he slew [it]; and Moses took the blood, and put [it] upon the horns of the altar round about with his finger, and purified the altar, and poured the blood at the bottom of the altar, and sanctified it, to make reconciliation upon it. Leviticus 8:15

And the sons of Aaron brought the blood unto him: and he dipped his finger in the blood, and put [it] upon the horns of the altar, and poured out the blood at the bottom of the altar: Leviticus 9:9

That Altar of Burnt Offering, in which the Blood was poured out at the base, upon the earth, was in the Courtyard, which represents the Earth, where Christ Jesus died. See Exo. 40:29, etc.

Therefore, the symbolism is pointing to the reality of Earthly events, not Heaven ones.

The Souls under The Altar cannot be understood, unless the structure, timing, language, types and symbols of the Scriptures be understood. The Altar deals with the portion of the Sanctuary and the service of the Great High Priest, Jesus Christ. The timing of the events listed in the 5th seal, are two fold, namely there are two groups mentioned. One group that has already died/martyred in the past, during the 1,260, and one group yet future to be so, coming soon. The second group is picked up in Revelation 20:4, as those "beheaded", and this prophecy event has yet to occur. The language itself also needs to be carefully considered, for there are similar passages in scripture.

The 5th Church, 5th Seal and 5th Trumpets are unique in their scope, as they are backward and forward looking from their point. They are connectors from the transition of the 4th and 6th of those things.

And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: Revelation 6:9

And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and [I saw] the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received [his] mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. Revelation 20:4

See also Revelation 6:10-11 for context between the two verses.

In the first text we see that there were those "slain for":

[A1] "the word of God"
[B1] "the testimony [G3141] which they held"

In the second text we see that there will be those "beheaded for":

[B2] "the witness ["testimony" G3141] of Jesus"
[A2] "the word of God"

In Revelation 6:

And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: Revelation 6:9

And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? Revelation 6:10

And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled. Revelation 6:11

We are dealing with symbols, as we have been in the previous 4 seals Revelation 6:1-8. We are not looking at literal people stuck under a giant sanctuary fixture somewhere.

We see these "crying" out, we must understand this, that their martyred selves, by their shed blood upon the earth cries out for Justice, even as Abel's was spilled to the ground:

And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground. Genesis 4:10

And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel. Hebrews 12:24

That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar. Matthew 23:35

From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias, which perished between the altar and the temple: verily I say unto you, It shall be required of this generation. Luke 11:51

Other things also "cry out" in scripture, but are not actually alive:

For the stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the timber shall answer it. Habakkuk 2:11

And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out. Luke 19:40

Other things also "cry out":

My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God. Psalms 84:2

Now notice that these are dead, and that they, by their shed blood, in which was the Life - John 15:13, see also Genesis 9:4; Leviticus 17:11,14; Deuteronomy 12:23;, etc, are symbolically crying out for justice, even as Abels Blood shed from the foundation of the world, and they should "rest" [sleep of death in the grave] a little season longer "until" something was to happen... and that something is the slaying of the rest of the martyrs in the end, and will be vindicated in the Resurrection.

Rest/Sleep:

[sleep, asleep, sleepeth] Deuteronomy 31:16; 2 Samuel 7:12; Job 3:13, 7:21, 14:12; 1 Kings 1:21, 2:10, 11:21,43, 14:20,31, 15:8,24, 16:6,28, 22:40,50; 2 Kings 8:24, 10:35, 13:9,13, 14:16,22,29, 15:7,22,38, 16:20, 20:21, 21:18, 24:6; 2 Chronicles 9:31, 12:16, 14:1, 16:13, 21:1, 26:2,23, 27:9, 28:27, 32:33, 33:20; Job 14:12; Psalms 13:3; Matthew 27:52; John 11:11-13; Acts 7:60, 13:36; 1 Corinthians 15:6,18,20,51; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-15; 2 Peter 3:4; [awake] Job 14:12; Psalms 17:15; Isaiah 26:19; Daniel 12:2; John 11:11-13; [grave/bed] Job 17:13; Psalms 139:8; Luke 17:34; [fathers and prophets are dead] John 6:49,58, 8:52,53; Acts 2:29,34, 13:36; Hebrews 11:4,13,16,40

Do they have crowns yet according to the Symbolism and Prophecy? No.

Notice also the question, "How long..." must they wait so? and a simple search will yield many answers in the OT/NT about this:

If I wait, the grave is mine house: I have made my bed in the darkness. Job 17:13

If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come. Job 14:14

When will God avenge them? Not until the other group of Martyrs comes, and them God will avenge both groups together, in the 7 last plagues -

"...rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled." Revelation 6:11

For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy. Revelation 16:6

The 7th Seal:

Revelation 8:1 And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour.

silence in heaven: (connect to:

[1] “voices” before “silence” “in heaven”; the heavenly ministry ongoing; Revelation 4:1,5, 8:13, 10:3-4, 12:10 (AD 31; Romans 5:6), 14:6-12 (three angels messages, “saying with a loud voice” & 4th), 18:1,

Temple Open in Heaven for Ministry (Everlasting Gospel still going forward): Revelation 8:3-4, 14:6-12

Temple Open in Heaven to send forth the 7 Last Plagues: Revelation 15:5, 16:1,5-7

[2] “silence” “in heaven”; the heavenly ministry ceases, smoke fills the Temple, no man allowed to enter, probation closed (Mystery of God, Finished), Revelation 8:1,5, 10:7, 15:8

Temple Closed in Heaven, Ministry ceased, smoke fills the Temple, no man allowed to enter, probation closed (Mystery of God, Finished): Revelation 8:1,5, 10:7, 15:8

Spirit of Prophecy/Testimony of Jesus (Daniel 12:1; Luke 13:25; Revelation 22:11):

“... It was Satan that prompted the world's rejection of Christ. The prince of evil exerted all his power and cunning to destroy Jesus; for he saw that the Saviour's mercy and love, His compassion and pitying tenderness, were representing to the world the character of God. Satan contested every claim put forth by the Son of God and employed men as his agents to fill the Saviour's life with suffering and sorrow. The sophistry and falsehood by which he had sought to hinder the work of Jesus, the hatred manifested through the children of disobedience, his cruel accusations against Him whose life was one of unexampled goodness, all sprang from deep-seated revenge. The pent-up fires of envy and malice, hatred and revenge, burst forth on Calvary against the Son of God, while all heaven gazed upon the scene in silent horror. {GC 501.2} ...” - The Great Controversy (1911), page 501.2

"At that time shall Michael stand up, the great Prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, everyone that shall be found written in the book." Daniel 12:1. {GC 613.1} When the third angel's message closes, mercy no longer pleads for the guilty inhabitants of the earth. The people of God have accomplished their work. They have received "the latter rain," "the refreshing from the presence of the Lord," and they are prepared for the trying hour before them. Angels are hastening to and fro in heaven. An angel returning from the earth announces that his work is done; the final test has been brought upon the world, and all who have proved themselves loyal to the divine precepts have received "the seal of the living God." Then Jesus ceases His intercession in the sanctuary above. He lifts His hands and with a loud voice says, "It is done;" and all the angelic host lay off their crowns as He makes the solemn announcement: "He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still." Revelation 22:11. Every case has been decided for life or death. Christ has made the atonement for His people and [614] blotted out their sins. The number of His subjects is made up; "the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven," is about to be given to the heirs of salvation, and Jesus is to reign as King of kings and Lord of lords. {GC 613.2} When He leaves the sanctuary, darkness covers the inhabitants of the earth. - The Great Controversy (1911), page 613.1-613.2

Other interesting connections (Jacob's Trouble, Gethsemane, Calvary):
“... Having made the decision, He fell dying to the ground from which He had partially risen. Where now were His disciples, to place their hands tenderly beneath the head of their fainting Master, and bathe that brow, marred indeed more than the sons of men? The Saviour trod the wine press alone, and of the people there was none with Him. {DA 693.1} But God suffered with His Son. Angels beheld the Saviour's agony. They saw their Lord enclosed by legions of satanic forces, His nature weighed down with a shuddering, mysterious dread. There was silence in heaven. No harp was touched. Could mortals have viewed the amazement of the angelic host as in silent grief they watched the Father separating His beams of light, love, and glory from His beloved Son, they would better understand how offensive in His sight is sin. {DA 693.2} The worlds unfallen and the heavenly angels had watched with intense interest as the conflict drew to its close. Satan and his confederacy of evil, the legions of apostasy, watched intently this great crisis in the work of redemption. The powers of good and evil waited to see what answer would come to Christ's thrice-repeated prayer. Angels had longed to bring relief to the divine sufferer, but this might not be. No way of escape was found for the Son of God. In this awful crisis, when everything was at stake, when the mysterious cup trembled in the hand of the sufferer, the heavens opened, a light shone forth amid the stormy darkness of the crisis hour, and the mighty angel who stands in God's presence, occupying the position from which Satan fell, came to the side of Christ. The angel came not to take the cup from Christ's hand, but to strengthen Him to drink it, with the assurance of the Father's love. He came to give power to the divine-human suppliant. He pointed Him to the open heavens, telling Him of the souls that would be saved as the result of His sufferings. He assured Him that His Father is greater and more powerful than Satan, that His death would result in the utter discomfiture of Satan, and that the kingdom of this world would be given to the saints of the Most High. He told Him that He [694] would see of the travail of His soul, and be satisfied, for He would see a multitude of the human race saved, eternally saved. {DA 693.3} …” - The Desire of Ages (1898), pages 693.1 - 693.3

“... The enemies of Jesus vented their rage upon Him as He hung upon the cross. Priests, rulers, and scribes joined with the mob in mocking the dying Saviour. At the baptism and at the transfiguration the voice of God had been heard proclaiming Christ as His Son. Again, just before Christ's betrayal, the Father had spoken, witnessing to His divinity. But now the voice from heaven was silent. No testimony in Christ's favor was heard. Alone He suffered abuse and mockery from wicked men. {DA 746.3} ...” - The Desire of Ages (1898), page 746.3

“... Behold the Son of God suffering on the cross for three terrible hours of agony, enduring the penalty of transgression, in order that repentant, believing ones might have eternal life. And in the darkest hour, when the Saviour was enduring the greatest suffering that Satan could bring to torture his humanity, the Father hid from his Son his face of pity, comfort, and love. Twice, at the baptism and at the transfiguration, the voice of God had been heard proclaiming Christ as his Son. The third time, just before the betrayal, the Father had spoken, witnessing to his Son. But now the voice from heaven was silent. No testimony in the Saviour's favor was heard. Alone he suffered abuse and mockery. {YI, June 14, 1900 par. 3} ...” - Youth's Instructor, June 14, 1900, Par. 3

“... The Son of God bore the contradiction of sinners against himself. Behold his agony in the garden of Gethsemane. Hear his thrice-repeated prayer, "If it be possible, let this cup pass from me." Sweating great drops of blood in his human agony, he added, "Nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt." Has God, then, no knowledge of his suffering creatures? Behold the Saviour betrayed, mocked, derided in the judgment hall. Who was this?--The Prince of Life, the holy and beloved of God. Faint and weary after his long, agonizing struggle in the garden of Gethsemane, he was dragged from one tribunal to another, testified against by false witnesses, given up to the malice of the Jews by Pilate, who pronounced him blameless, scourged with cruel whips, spit upon, mocked at, fainting under the burden of the cross, and then lifted upon the cross, reproached in his dying agonies, the rude soldiers quarreling over his few garments, the reward for their part in the shameful work, priests and rulers in triumph wagging their heads and taunting him, "He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him. He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him." {RH, September 1, 1891 par. 4} How could heaven keep silent? Can we wonder at the horrible unnatural darkness that hung over the cross? Can we wonder at the rending rocks, the rolling thunder, the flashing lightning, the shaking of the earth beneath the tread of the heavenly army as they beheld their loved Commander suffering such indignity? The crown of thorns he wore, the curse of the cross he suffered,-- who could have imagined that he, the Son of the infinite God, the Majesty of heaven, the King of glory, would bow his righteous soul to such a sacrifice! For sinners, for sinners, he died. Wonder, O heavens, and be astonished, O earth! The Son of God has died on the shameful cross, that the world might not perish; he died to bring life, everlasting life, to all who shall believe. {RH, September 1, 1891 par. 5} ...” - The Review and Herald, September 1, 1891, Par. 4 - 5

The Final Events Typified, unto the surrounding of the saints with Light, unto the Great Earthquake, the tombs opening, great confusion in the world, terror of the wicked, and victory, the veil between Heaven and Earth torn asunder (sky ripped open, Heaven departed as a scroll, Revelation 6:14).

“... Suddenly the gloom lifted from the cross, and in clear, trumpetlike tones, that seemed to resound throughout creation, Jesus cried, "It is finished." "Father, into Thy hands I commend My spirit." A light encircled the cross, and the face of the Saviour shone with a glory like the sun. He then bowed His head upon His breast, and died. {DA 756.2} Never before had the earth witnessed such a scene. The multitude stood paralyzed, and with bated breath gazed upon the Saviour. Again darkness settled upon the earth, and a hoarse rumbling, like heavy thunder, was heard. There was a violent earthquake. The people were shaken together in heaps. The wildest confusion and consternation ensued. In the surrounding mountains, rocks were rent asunder, and went crashing down into the plains. Sepulchers were broken open, and the dead were cast out of their tombs. Creation seemed to be shivering to atoms. Priests, rulers, soldiers, executioners, and people, mute with terror, lay prostrate upon the ground. {DA 756.4} When the loud cry, "It is finished," came from the lips of Christ, the priests were officiating in the temple. It was the hour of the evening sacrifice. The lamb representing Christ had been brought to be slain. Clothed in his significant and beautiful dress, the priest stood with lifted knife, as did Abraham when he was about to slay his son. With intense interest the people were looking on. But the earth trembles and quakes; [757] for the Lord Himself draws near. With a rending noise the inner veil of the temple is torn from top to bottom by an unseen hand, throwing open to the gaze of the multitude a place once filled with the presence of God. In this place the Shekinah had dwelt. Here God had manifested His glory above the mercy seat. No one but the high priest ever lifted the veil separating this apartment from the rest of the temple. He entered in once a year to make an atonement for the sins of the people. But lo, this veil is rent in twain. The most holy place of the earthly sanctuary is no longer sacred. {DA 756.5} All is terror and confusion. The priest is about to slay the victim; but the knife drops from his nerveless hand, and the lamb escapes. Type has met antitype in the death of God's Son. The great sacrifice has been made. The way into the holiest is laid open. A new and living way is prepared for all. No longer need sinful, sorrowing humanity await the coming of the high priest. Henceforth the Saviour was to officiate as priest and advocate in the heaven of heavens. It was as if a living voice had spoken to the worshipers: There is now an end to all sacrifices and offerings for sin. The Son of God is come according to His word, "Lo, I come (in the volume of the Book it is written of Me,) to do Thy will, O God." "By His own blood" He entereth "in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us." Hebrews 10:7; 9:12. {DA 757.1} ...” - The Desire of Ages (1898), page 756.2 – 757.1

[3] “voices”
after “silence” “in heaven”; Kingdom Come; Revelation 8:5, 11:15,19, 16:18, 19:1

Temple Opened in Heaven again, out comes Jesus, Victorious for His people: Revelation 11:19

Psalms 50:3 KJB - Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him.

(This means that God had kept a time of silence in heaven, between speakings/voices.)

[M.] (on earth) the (wicked) first (Sea) Beast of Revelation 13: (Before, on earth) Revelation 13:5-6

[N.] (on earth) the (wicked) second (Earth) Beast of Revelation 13: (Before, on earth) Revelation 13:11,14; (image of the first Beast) 13:15

[O.] (in Heaven by vision) John speaking: (John's speaking is all Before, though some of the events portrayed in vision are at varied times) (crying) Revelation 5:4, (responding to question from one of the 24 Elders) 7:14, (asking for the open book in Jesus' hand, to prophesy again in earth) 10:9,11

[P.] (on earth) Two Witness Prophesying: (Before, on earth; 1,260 years, AD 538-1798) Revelation 11:5-7

[Q.] (in Heaven, symbolically, on earth physically) The Woman (Church): (crying in childbirth) Revelation 12:2

about: (meaning) almost, not quite, not exactly, circa, generally, rounded, approximately: Mark 5:13, 8:9; Luke 2:37, 8:42; John 1:39, 6:19; Acts 1:15, 5:7, 13:18,20, 19:34; Revelation 8:1, 16:21

the space of half an hour: (connect to Revelation 3:10, 17:12, “one hour”, thus about midway through the final “hour”; the last time of Jacob's trouble, the Angel is silent, but still wrestles with us)

this “half an hour” is approximately ½ of the “one hour” (or set time) of Revelation 3:10, 17:12 (which is also not, see following), the midst of the time of final trial, and is:

[A.] not standard time (½ of 1/24 in a standard day (Genesis 1), 30 natural minutes),

[B.] not day for a year principle (therefore not 7-8 days, 1 hour about 15 days in a year; 360 days divided by 12 months divided by 2 (24 “hours” making up the full year) and divided by 2 again; and therefore ½ hour would be half of a half of month, or 7.5 (7 ½) of 30 days, thus “about half an hour” would be approximately 7-8 days of a 360 day (lunar/prophetic) year),

[C.] not a day with the LORD time (a day with the LORD is 1,000 years (such as the Day of the LORD, the final day, the 7th Day of the Cosmic Week - 7,000 years), Psalms 90:4; 2 Peter 3:8; which would be 1000 divided by 24, which is 41.6667~ (41 2/3) for 1 hour, and thus divided by 2, for ½ hour of 1,000 years would be 20.8333~ years)

[D.] not a watch in the night time (Psalms 90:4; 1000 years is 1 watch, there are 4 watches in the night & also in the day (8 watches total), a single watch is thus 3 hours (8 watches multiplied by 3 hours each = 24 hours in 8,000 years, which is 333.3333~ (333 1/3) days for 1 hour, and thus divided by 2, for ½ hour of 8,000 years would be 166.6667~ (166 2/3) years)

[E.] not anti-typical feast time (see Leviticus 23).

We can know by the context that the “about the space of half an hour” (Revelation 8:1) and the “hour” (Daniel 3:5,6,7,8,15 (“time”, “same hour”, “time”, “time”, “time”); Luke 22:53 (“hour, and the power of darkness”); Revelation 3:10, 17:12) are not those things, just as the “hour” came in spiritual Egypt/Sodom for the great “earthquake” (Revelation 11:13); and also the “hour” of God's Judgment being come (Revelation 14:7), and the “an hour” of the “a day, and a month, and a year” are pointing to specific moments in prophetic time (such as the end of the 2,300 day/years; AD 1843/44), and yet the “hour” of God's Judgment has been ongoing for the last 170 years.

The word “half an hour” (G2256), while it can mean one half of one hour (G5610) of a natural day, it also generally means: half of a time, a moment, an epoch, an era, a season.

In this (contextual) instance it would be from about the time of the closing of the temple in Heaven, the cessation of the voices of the 3 Angels (and 4th), the finishing of the ministration of the Everlasting Gospel, the wrestling of the Saints in prayer (Heaven is at this time of trouble” (Psalms 9:9, 10:1, 27:5, 37:39, 41:1; Isaiah 33:2; Jeremiah 14:8, 30:7; Daniel 12:1) silent, the Saints apparently being “left alone”) in the final time of Jacob's trouble (Genesis 32:24,26,31; 2 Peter 1:19), until the time that God the Father speaks forth the Day and Hour:

Introduction to the 7 Trumpets:

Revelation 8:2 And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets.

Revelation 8:2-3 (tying to Revelation 4:5) “seven angels” ties into Revelation 1:12,13,20. To “stand before” God, means to be “across from”, “in front of” Him, which implicate the 7 Golden Candlesticks and the 7 “Angels” thereof. They were given “trumpets”, which being sanctuary language, points to the 7 “branch” candlestick.

The Candlesticks give “light”, such as “lightening” does, and “lightening” branches from the Heavens to the earth, followed by the “trumpet” or “voice/s” of “thunder”, see: Judges 7:16; Matthew 5:15,16, 24:27; Job 38:35 (lightnings as messengers/angels); Zechariah 9:13,14; Exodus 19:16, 20:18 (thunder gives 'voice' (and echoes), and lightning 'shines', reveals); 2 Samuel 22:13,14,15; Job 40:9; Psalms 18:12,13,14, 77:17,18, 104:7; Daniel 10:6; 1 Thessalonians 4:16; Revelation 14:2, 19:6.
