Very often there are posts on here where christians experience guilt and question their faith and/or their relationship/standing with the Lord thereby causing them anxiety and doubt even to the point they think they have lost their salvation. Just wanted to post some scripture of encouragement in that regard. Following are a few ... if you have more please post them.

May we all rest in Him, knowing we have been forgiven if we have sincerely asked Him to forgive us ... that in fact ... He has forgiven us and give us peace in our hearts and minds. Amen!

Please memorize this verse and carry it in your heart always and be at peace!

*** 1 John 1

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. ***

“For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved” (John 3:17). It’s not God’s purpose to condemn you; it’s His desire to take away your sins, to keep you from sin, and to save you through Jesus Christ.

“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:21). Jesus not only died for your sins, He took your sins upon Himself so He could give you His righteousness—His right standing with God.

“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace” (Ephesians 1:7). Through the sacrificial death of Christ, you are given forgiveness and salvation as a free gift.

“ ‘Come now, and let us reason together,’ ” says the Lord, ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool’ ” (Isaiah 1:18). God invites you to talk it over with Him, and He promises an outcome of great relief for you!

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). All you need to do is tell God where you went wrong, that you are sorry, and He will take care of everything else and wash it away—transforming you into a new creature.

“For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more” (Hebrews 8:12). In His great mercy, God erases your sin from His memory!

“As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us” (Psalm 103:12). It gives you a wonderful feeling of freedom to be separated from your sins and joined with God.

“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit” (Romans 8:1). If you follow Jesus and stay true to Him, you don’t have to worry about the judgment; your guilt is a thing of the past.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17). In addition to cleansing away all of your sins through the blood of the Lamb, God gives you a brand-new life—a new heart that will help keep you from sinning again.

God Bless all.

What I have found on these forums is most of the people complaining about guilt and condemnation, it is of the false guilt kind. God has already forgiven them and they know it but still are plagued by lies from the enemy that make them feel like dung.

It is one thing to know those verses intellectually. It is quite another to understand it emotionally. And that seems to be where the problem lies.

I agree ... negative emotions are difficult to deal with, however if we go to the Lord He will help us when we are struggling with them ... through His encouraging words and through prayer.

1 Peter 5

7Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

8Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. 9Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your Christian brothers and sisters all over the world are going through the same kind of suffering you are.

God Bless.

I don't think we are supposed to keep handling negative emotions of any kind. Nor even good emotions ....
Emotions / feelings/ are all of and in the "old man", the flesh, carnal.
When we get crucified with Christ, POOF! they are gone. No worries. No anxiety(in the New Testament believers)....

Instead they daily were "full of righteousness, peace and joy".... so forget what is behind,
forget what does not work, and press forward in Christ for the gift of Jesus, with all that all the New Testament Ekklesia rejoiced in - even UNION WITH JESUS DAILY.

Not just once in a while, not just sometimes, but every day union with Jesus.

I disagree... We were made in the Image of HaShem, and throughout scripture HE is described as being emotional. Our emotions are but a reflection of His own. But being fallen creatures, those emotions can go haywire at times.

The emotions are always haywire in the unregenerate natural man and woman.
Remember that that which is born of the flesh is flesh, and profits nothing. That is at least a good thing to always remember.

Also, the natural man, with the lusts(desires) of the flesh, the lusts of the eyes, and the pride of life, is what is "of the world", sinful, to be delivered from.

That is what usually rules men, countries, even religious men, and is hardly ever
anyone set free from. More and more are subjected to the enemy of Christ through
their emotions and feelings every day, and they continue sinning instead of being set free.

What about someone like me who doesn't feel guilt? I backslid very badly and I lost all convictions and guilt. Do those verses still apply to me? I don't even feel anxiety.

I did however feel a draw one day to start reading the Bible again so maybe there is hope? If only I didn't go to an OSAS church and allowed myself to be lulled into complacency...

I've been learning about sin. There's sin, transgressions, and iniquity. Sin is just "missing the mark" while transgressions are a willful disobedience to God's commands. Repeated transgressions will lead to iniquity eventually from where there is no repentance. Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. When someone is guilty of iniquity, their hearts become crooked and perverse to the point where sinning is their default mode. Their conscience no longer bites at them. If only I knew this before but then again the Bible says, "My people are destroyed by the lack of knowledge." Ignorance is never an excuse with God.
